Skelaxin dosage medication

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin dosage medication

skelaxin

Avatar m tn Neither Skelaxin (metaxalone) nor Celebrex (celecoxib) cause dependence. Your body will not crave either medication. You will not develop tolerance to either medication, nor will you suffer withdrawal symptoms in their absence. The usual dose of Skelaxin is 800mg every 6 to 8 hours (three or four times a day). Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and don't mix Skelaxin with alcohol, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants.
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn You have plenty of other medication choices to move to and see if this helps. Oxycodone is the next medication up or even Oxycontin in a low dosage like 10mg twice a day as this would be a bit higher strength than what you are taking now but would give you more steady pain relief throughout the day. Oxycontin is just plain Oxycodone in a long acting formula. You are also on a very low dosage of the Gabapentin. It can be dosed all the way up to 3600mg a day.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar m tn Anyone know anything about skelaxin? My doc just sent a script for that To my pharmacy in place of soma....
Avatar f tn However I have learned from the psychiatrists I have seen over the years who at times did allow me to lower the dosage of a medication if they felt I could maintain stability was that what can appear as if a person might not need a medication or a specific dose could easily be because it is working. Also I didnt feel the effect of the lowering of the medication until two weeks later because it took that long to get out of my bloodstream.
1760800 tn?1406753451 I take Baclofen for spasticity. My initial dose was only 10mg, then I was bumped up to 30mg, and now I'm at 60mg. I think it may take a while for them to get the correct dosage set for you. You didn't say what dosage that you are on - perhaps, your current dosage just isn't enough? I'm not sure if the spasticity will ever totally go away. I know that it hasn't with me. I also tried Tizanidine (Zanaflex) and Skelaxin (not sure why this one was tried???
4762310 tn?1362165935 The same rules apply as with the initial adjustment period, so to be fair, you should give the medication another 4-6 weeks after your dosage was increased. Many times improvements can be seen before that, but to be safe, being that everyone responds differently to medications, 4-6 weeks will ensure you've given it ample time. If after that time, you STILL aren't seeing improvements, then it's definitely time to speak with your doc and reevaluate your regimen.
676302 tn?1237863491 In my experience I have found Soma to be helpful as well as Skelaxin. I would have a talk with your doctor and see what he/she suggests. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Your math is correct. Without knowing what medication you are describing, it's possible that the reason your doctor did not give you the smallest possible mg as you requested because maybe the medication you are referring to is not manufactured less than 0.25 mg. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn then you probably do need either a higher dosage or a change of medication. But talk to your doctor about this, he will know what to do. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn How long have you been taking the Prozac for? Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to get adjusted to medication. Also my psychiatrist told me alot of people who suffer from anxiety/depression will think the medication is making them worse because the are already struggling with anxiety/depression. However, some medications just don't work for people, or cause side effects such as fatigue.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar f tn I was told it would have to be doubled since the tablets are 50 mg each. Is there any other solution or medication that comes in a lower dosage for this problem?
