Avatar n tn I had gastric bypass surgery 14 years ago and have lost 140#. Needless to say I have may of the dificiencies that go along with it. A recent physical indicated that my liver emzymes are elevated to about double the normal range. This is the first time I have ever had this issue. I' m curious if it could be due to the medications I am taking or if it might be wine or the possile combination of both.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar m tn Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D. Advised to take 1000mg of Vitamin D per day. Follow up appt. set for 7/10 where they will do a urine test again.
Avatar m tn Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
Avatar m tn When there is nothing else someone can take, narcotics is better than living in severe pain for some people. Some people are allergic, or it does nothing for them so they turn to narcotics. I think the warm shower in the morning and stretches are very good! I've heard around that certain foods can aggravate fibro. caffeine, gluton, fake sugars, msg. I don't know of any other non narcotic meds, but if you don't want to take narcotics, I would look into more natural healing.

Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either. I was just started on Lyrica and have noticed a slight decrease in pain but I still have flares that are unbearable. I wish I could offer you suggestions but so far, I'm in the same boat as you.
Avatar m tn I have had a headache for now 31 days in a row without any real relief. It started out (I think) with a stiff neck- Couldn't touch chin to chest) and the same day I started with a headache. They almost follow a pattern everyday, I wake up with it, it gets better after I'm up for awhile and almost gone into afternoon, but around 4 pm comes back and keeps going for the rest of the night (almost worse when I lay down).
Avatar f tn Hi and sorry about your neck/back injury. Flexeril does work a lot better. I was on it for 9 months. It wasn't too hard to get off of. Skelaxin didn't work as well for me either but did work some as I felt it after I got of of it. For short term I would take Flexeril at night (5mg). Apparently Skelaxin doesn't work for you.Flexeril only works for 3 weeks then it is a sleeping pill really. I would go on an off as needed.
Avatar f tn s like they are on fire hurting. stiff neck and all. was taking the tram for degenerative disk disease in the neck so i was wondering, is this a symptom of w/d? or is this the pain that i am to endure after being clean? this *****.
517902 tn?1314715429 I GET MEDS FROM HIM FOR SLEEP (ELAVIL- WHICH IS ALSO AN ANTIDEPRESSANT, AND HELPS YOUR BODY PRODUCE ITS OWN PAIN KILLERS, ENDORPHINS), FOR ARTHTITIS (MOBIC), FOR FIBRO (LYRICA), FOR RESTLESS LEG (KLONIPIN), AND ONLY IF NEEDED FOR SLEEP (BECAUSE THE ELAVIL MAKES YOU DROWSY) HALCION WHICH PUTS ME TO SLEEP, BUT IS NOT A MED THAT WORKS TO KEEP YOU ASLEEP, YOU MAY NEED ANOTHER TYPE FOR THAT. ANYWAY, THIS IS A SHORT SYNOPSIS OF MY FIRST 25 YEARS WITH FIBROMYALGIA.
Avatar f tn Hi, I started taking ultram for multiple vehicle injuries. Ultram didn't work, they tried Tylenol3, tylenol3 didn't work they tried hydrocodone, that didn't work..so they tried percoset 5/325 6X a day. I got used to that dose now im on 7.5/325 6x a day. The more I NEED them. The more I want them. I am definitely addicted but it is not a good addiction. I get very mean, and emotionless over nothing. I go to physical therapy 3x a week. So it is all legit.
Avatar m tn Take the pills and try the therapy and message for awhile and then let us know how your doing. I had got down to 1 1/2 a day through my weening process but my back was hurting the whole time. I think I am still going to try to keep cutting back and see if I can quit when I can take a few days off work. Just thought I would let ya'll know where I am and how disappointed I am that the dr said he could not fix it for me.
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar m tn 1:) the pain/nerve issues that I have, weather from the injury etc. 2:) My OCD nature, and anxiety are not helping. I have always been llike this, just in this case it is not helping me. I am trying the best I can to step back and take it easy but then the pain kicks in and down the crap shoot I go. He also thinks that it will help restore my balance, then ween off of it. I hate hate hate drugs. Especially after the research I did early on with Cymbalta...! ugh.
Avatar f tn I have been taking norco for over 7 yrs for various things including fibromyalgia, well now its never enough and I take too many and keep running out. This time I have to wait 2 + weeks and my body is freaking out and I am in such pain and mental agony. Its been 4 days and still seems worse, now I have run out of my anxiety med, klonopin for sleep and am having severe withdrawls from both. Legs and arms shaking, vomiting, can't sleep, pain, and I can't say anything to the dr.
Avatar f tn Fiorecet, Imitrex, topomax, effexor, lortab, skelaxin, and others. We have been the migrane route, the cluster route, and the tension route. I have had a CT that came back normal, Blood work to rule out infection, hormonal causes, pregnancy, thiroid issues, and other general causes. I am having issues functioning at my job and in my life. These headaches are terrible and very frustrating. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn My dad was taking Skelaxin and when he would take it he would be a little messed up. My dad quickly stopped taking it and they put him on Effexor which caused some side effects such as dizziness, insomnia, and upper respiratory problems. Never taken them personally, but that is what I have heard. I would immagine those would also be addictive also, maybe not as bad, but still dependence would set in. GOOD LUCK ...
Avatar f tn soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...my brother takes it for migraines and i have it prescribed for back pain...also an AD in higher doses...hang in there.
402205 tn?1230481005 Hi everyone, I have a question. I am 13 days clean from hydrocodones (about 4-8 a day for 4 months). I just had a car accident and don't want to take anything for the pain. I was wondering about muscle relaxers. I've never had a problem taking them before. Should I take them? Will it make me relapse? Any help would be appreciated!
387113 tn?1313512083 Believe it or not, I mentioned this to my Rheumatologist the other day. She said that "cramps" CAN be relieved by Quinine. The old, tried and ture method. But she didn't say this was for the spasms caused by MS. This is for those muscle cramps that wake you up in the middle of the night, making you jump out of bed screaming. I guess it's trying to figure out what is a cramp and what is a spasm. I have found nothing that truly takes care of the spasms.
Avatar m tn ve seen say that my condition could most likely be fibromyalgia or some type of chronic neuromuscular pain, but are still perplexed at my condition. I've already seen a Rheumatologist although the pain is not in the joints, just the muscles. I have also seen my family practitioner. The pain has always affected my quality of life, I dread doing simple housework and daily activities. I feel like I can't enjoy life to it's full potential and nothing is fun.
585414 tn?1288941302 I understand some of these questions are complex but given that the tardive conditions cause respiratory convulsions and myoclonic spasms any idea that its been of some use would be of great help to me.
