Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin and zanaflex

skelaxin

Avatar m tn have you ever tried zanaflex?
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.5) and try this Skelaxin and let me know in 3 months how your doing. I have really tried to cut back on the hydro but my back hurts so bad it wakes me up (when I can sleep). Please let me know if any of you have had any experence with this for back spasms. Thanks.
Avatar m tn you can use ice, heat, alternate Tylenol and Advil, rest, hot showers/baths, and take the Zanaflex when you are home since that won't matter if it makes you drowsy. I just think that if you go to the ER and they know you are a chronic pain management...they aren't going to do much for you and then it's going to look bad on your record with this new Dr. you are going to see. Obviously your choice...just sharing my thoughts...
676302 tn?1237863491 In my experience I have found Soma to be helpful as well as Skelaxin. I would have a talk with your doctor and see what he/she suggests. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn My dad was taking Skelaxin and when he would take it he would be a little messed up. My dad quickly stopped taking it and they put him on Effexor which caused some side effects such as dizziness, insomnia, and upper respiratory problems. Never taken them personally, but that is what I have heard. I would immagine those would also be addictive also, maybe not as bad, but still dependence would set in. GOOD LUCK ...
Avatar n tn The following is from my surgical notes: I recently had a shoulder surgery (2 months ago), in which I had Impingement Syndrome with limited space for the rotator cuff beneath the anterolateral acromial margin and Labral Detachment. Shoulder Capsule was repaired and two sutures were placed in my shoulder towards the superior apex. I was told that the decompression was successful.
Avatar m tn I have taken muscle relaxers, migraine meds, prednisone (6 days) and more and more Skelaxin. I started seeing a neurologist two weeks ago and he put me on the prednisone and skelaxin he also did a MRI (w/o contrast) that came back negative.
Avatar f tn Same thing with having a muscle relaxer to take as needed. Flexeril, Skelaxin, Robaxin, Baclofen, or Zanaflex. This is very useful for those times with bad muscle spasms... Again...an opiate does not target spasms. An opiate just makes our brain not "care" as much. And sure, it can be a small part of one's treatment...but it should never be the main part.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
703238 tn?1297098358 and no..That is absolutely NOT a bad thing..You are human, it is natural to want to feel good..Please don't hate yourself for it..My mother takes Flexiril and that really helps her..It eases you into sleep and you sleep all night. It is also a muscle relaxer and not so 'hardcore' Or maybe try Skelaxin?
1168718 tn?1464983535 I will be on 4mg at bedtime, and still my baclofen one in the orning, and one at night with the Zoplicone and the Zanaflex..... so, here's hoping that we can sleep longer that 2 or 3 hours at one time without either shaking myself awake, or we have to go to the bathroom, and that also has increased.

Avatar f tn Hi, I started taking ultram for multiple vehicle injuries. Ultram didn't work, they tried Tylenol3, tylenol3 didn't work they tried hydrocodone, that didn't work..so they tried percoset 5/325 6X a day. I got used to that dose now im on 7.5/325 6x a day. The more I NEED them. The more I want them. I am definitely addicted but it is not a good addiction. I get very mean, and emotionless over nothing. I go to physical therapy 3x a week. So it is all legit.
Avatar m tn At night I take 1/2 of a Skelaxin (muscle relaxer) and some Melatonin, that relaxes me enough to sleep. EXERCISE! I'm here to tell it helps - a lot. You don't have to go crazy - just a walk around the neighborhood is good. Best of luck to you!
338416 tn?1420045702 Tell me if you've heard this one before! I have prescriptions for Baclofen, Zanaflex and Flexaril. Since I've recently gone insance and decided to try for pregnancy, I need to get off the Category C drugs. So I stopped taking the Zanaflex (except for the worst spasms) and I'm titrating down on Baclofen. Here's the weird part. When I was taking 6 baclofen a day, I had less pain overall, but I had just as many spasms as I do now.
Avatar f tn This time I have to wait 2 + weeks and my body is freaking out and I am in such pain and mental agony. Its been 4 days and still seems worse, now I have run out of my anxiety med, klonopin for sleep and am having severe withdrawls from both. Legs and arms shaking, vomiting, can't sleep, pain, and I can't say anything to the dr. because he won't refill them. I don't know what to do for 2 weeks, not sleep, walk around all night.
373683 tn?1218997212 You start slow, and work up to the dose that relieves your nerve pain. There are some side effects, and some people gain weight on it, but it has helped my fibro and diabetic neuropathy a lot. Is this a GP you are seeing, or a rheumatologist who specialises in fibro? A specialist would be best. Good luck.
Avatar m tn s almost like pushing on a fresh bruise. I brushed it off as I do most medical concerns and took a zanaflex and a nap. Upon waking I realized that my face is beginning to become sensitve to touch as well. Is this a reaction to the medicine, the back injury, or something completely different? Should I seek attention?
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have taken Zanaflex off and on the last year and am currently taking it after acdf surgery. It has been the only muscle relaxer that really helps me other than taking valium. I have only taken it for a month at the longest and there were no side effects for me when i had stopped taking it earlier in the year.
Avatar m tn Zanaflex is Tizanidine which is used to relieve the spasms and increased muscle tone caused by multiple sclerosis, stroke, or brain or spinal injury. Tizanidine is in a class of medications called skeletal muscle relaxants. It works by slowing action in the brain and nervous system to allow the muscles to relax.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
