Avatar f tn Mean pulmonary artery pressure is ≥25 mmHg at rest Mean pulmonary capillary wedge pressure <15 mmHg This should not be affected by the size of the individual.
Avatar f tn pulmonary pressure, reduce symptoms, increase the capacity for activity, and prolong lifespan. Treatments for pulmonary arterial hypertension range from medications to transplant surgery.
Avatar f tn I know that drugs like Viagra etc,,, are used for pulmonary hypertension as well as erectile dysfunction. I'm a nurse and had a guy come on our floor with sildenafil as a regular medication. I asked the doctor why and he said the pulmonary hypertension. So I could see a use for what your husband said.
Avatar m tn Does Sildenafil or actually having sex drastically lower blood pressure? I made the following measurements and I do not understand the BP fluctuations? 1 hour after taking 60mg of Sildenafil - BP 146/94 After having sex - BP 125/77 In the morning - BP 160/102 Can Sildenafil be taken as a medicine to lower a BP? What might have caused such big BP fluctuations specifically after night rest?
Avatar m tn Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a relatively rare disease that has no cure yet. However, treatment can lower patients' pulmonary pressure, reduce symptoms, increase the capacity for activity, and prolong lifespan. There are three major therapeutic classes of PAH treatment that address 3 key pathways: There is medication that blocks the agnet that narrows blood vessels, and medciation that stimulates the cells to cause blood vessels to expand.

High blood pressure in the blood vessels of the lung Pulmonary hypertension means high blood pressure in the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs.
Avatar n tn There is only a method of controlling the disesse She has been suffering from this disease for the past 12 years now and she has been on the below given medication all this while lenoxin -50mg ecosprin -75 mg(asprin) lacilactone- 1/2 tablet in a day Recently i took her to our cardioligist and he suggested that there is a way of reducing the arterial pressure by using sildenafil which is a viagra(it reduced the arterial pressure significantly) And indeed she has been taking this for the past 3
547253 tn?1398187995 Patients with pulmonary hypertension may get some symptomatic relief with oxygen and oral medications for pulmonary hypertension, such as sildenafil (Viagra) and some others. Your cousin's family needs to discuss things in detail with the cardiologist, to make sure everyone understands the serious nature of this condition and its impact upon long term survival.
Avatar m tn the scan also shown a borderline enlarged heart and pulmonary artery enlarge suggesting pulmonary arterial hypertension. on a previous ct scan 6 months earlier it shown no findings.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, My 15yr. old male, neutered, Pekingese, Petey, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 renal failure. He does have some other health issues as well. He has insulinoma (tumors in pancreas), as well as pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs due to "leaky" heart valve). He was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension around March of this year by a cardiologist.
Avatar m tn Now I have a Left Ventricular Bundle Branch Block, Ejection Faction/Left Ventricular Function depression, Hypertension, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, Left Ventricular Dilation, Left Ventricular Asynergic contractions, Excentrical, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Early Diastolic Function, Tricuspid Valve Regurgitation, and Limited Oxygen intake in blood. Could all this have started because of the ASD residuals?
1980771 tn?1326279497 Therefore, I recommend you to search domestic pulmonary hypertension center in your country. To my knowledge, following hospitals are known as pulmonary hypertension center in your country. SAL Hospital & Medical Institute, Ahmedabad, India Narayana Hrudayalaya Inst. Of Cardiac Sciences, Bangalore, India K. S.
Avatar f tn 3. Persistent enlargement of the main pulmonary artery suggestive of pulmonary arterial hypertension. My dr. just told me to watch for hemoptysis. I know pulmonary AV malformations are not that common and even less common in the upper lobes. Should they be treated? I have read about possible complications from them. Also, my pulmo. told me I have alveolitis. I assume that is what the groundglass nodule is. Any insight you could give would be helpful.
Avatar m tn on the ct scan the heart was borderline enlarge and the main pulmonary artery was enlarged suggesting pulmonary arterial hypertension, 6 months earlier a ct scan shown none of these findings. how bad is this scan?
Avatar m tn 9. There is mild to moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation. 10. Moderate pulmonary hypertension, estimated pulmonary arterial systolic pressure is 63 mmHg. 11. Atrial septal defect demonstrated right to left shunting by agitated saline. Qp/Qs is 0.87. 12. There is no pericardial effusion. New cardiologist. Appointment scheduled with cardiac surgeon. Should I ask for a heart cath to confirm PH? Could this be an anomaly?
Avatar f tn With out knowing which part the measurement came from it would be hard to tell. But it not a bad number for any of those diameters. As far as pulmonary hypertension goes it is also known in the medical world as PH and what it means is that the arteries inside of the chest wall basically are having high blood pressure and its easily treated by docs. I would say that your doc needs to sit you down and go over all of this with you so that you aren't in the dark here......
Avatar n tn I also had an echocardiogram, which showed a high pulmonary arterial pressure of 42mmHg. I have been a figure skater for the last 10+ years, logging several thousand hours of vigorous training at 8000 feet elevation. I live and work at 5500 feet. I am assuming that this high altitude skating has raised my pulmonary arterial pressure. I still train and generally feel well. Am I inflicting damage on my body by continuing to do this?
Avatar n tn Were you diagnosed with pulmonary venous hypertension or pulmonary arterial hypertension? There is a difference in treatment. Primary pulmonary hypertension is a term that is no longer used. It seems to me you should be going to a PH clinic.
1856046 tn?1330237245 Some diseases raise pulmonary pressures to cause pulmonary artery hypertension for unclear reasons. Perhaps an unknown toxin or chemical effects the blood vessels by causes constriction or inappropriate growth of the tissue within or around the vessel. For example, there is a condition known as portopulmonary hypertension that is result of liver failure.
Avatar n tn Will improving LV diastolic dysfunction help lower pulmonary pressures due to secondary pulmonary hypertension? The facts (echo): 1. LV "mildly" hypertrophic (posterior wall thickness- 1.5 cm, septal thickness 1.2cm). 2."suggestion of concentric left ventricular hypertrophy". 3.LV ejection fraction normal. 4.Mital valve and aortic valve areas are reduced (although I have researched this, and according to the #'s on the echo, the aortic area is normal at 2.5cm) 5.
Avatar f tn Having scleroderma would also predispose you to SPAH (secondary pulmonary arterial hypertension). If those values are elevated, then that could also be contributing to your shortness of breath. Just an idea to consider if your doctor hasn't already. I wish I could help with the other questions, have you presented these to your doctor? They certainly are great questions. I wish you luck and hope you get relief soon.
Avatar m tn HI, Im trying to figure out if i have pulmonary arterial hypertension, or a lung disease, or if my symptoms are just anxiety/asthma/allergies or something else. about two months ago I was on prednisone for very bad inflammation, breathing problems, presumably caused by mold exposure.
Avatar m tn But even more importantly, ECHO is NOTORIOUSLY unreliable for evaluating pulmonary hypertension. It is wrong ALL the time. Moreover, the number 42 is barely abnormal anyways (and again, if accurate, this was during pregnancy). What is most important is your symptoms. We do not treat "numbers" by echo. I suspect that as you continue to get reconditioned, sleep more (as your baby sleeps more, etc) your fatigue, etc will improve.
Avatar n tn Hi, pulmonary hypertension is defined as an increase in mean pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) ≥25 mmHg at rest as assessed by right heart catheterization. PH can be found in multiple clinical conditions. And the if the oxygen levels are chronically below 88% then oxygen therapy is indicated, as this might cause damage to vital organs. Regards.
370638 tn?1298295911 X-rays of the chest and ventilation-perfusion or V/Q scanning to exclude chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Normal pulmonary arterial pressure is around 12–16 mm Hg. Pulmonary hypertension is present when mean pulmonary artery pressure exceeds 25 mm Hg at rest or 30 mm Hg with exercise. You may opt to repeat the test or have further evaluation done to determine if a diagnosis of pulmonary hyper tension is present. Take care and do keep us posted.
