Common Questions and Answers about Side effects of asacol hd

asacol

Avatar n tn I started taking Asacol HD about one week ago. I noticed this morning that I had 3 whole pills in my stool. One pill looked like it was open on one side, but had something white still in it. Not sure about the others. Is this normal to see whole pills in stool, and to see three at one time?
Avatar m tn I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?
Avatar m tn tell her the prednisone is worse than most of the drugs they will put her on. the side effects from them are horrible. best to get off of them as quickly as possible. best wishes to her.
Avatar m tn I am happy to say i only tried it for two days and gave up bc of the side effects! Two days after being off asacol bleeding cramping headache everything stopped... . I was actually on a 20 day spell of bleeding in my still adacol continued to make me bleed!!!!
Avatar m tn Aloe will calm inflammation. Psyllium husk helps immediate effects of diarrhea. Red meats are not good for you right now, lunch meat has sodium nitrates, breads have mycotoxins...take it easy on your system...start treating it right!
Avatar f tn hi there, i have UC (diagnosed in 2001) and have been on asacol most of the time. however, i had about a year of experience with pentasa... the doctor at the time told me that it was the same thing as asacol, however, i found it to be less effective. another doctor later told me that they have the same active ingredient mesalamine, but pentasa reaches a different part of your track... i think asacol stays intact longer, so it gets released lower down in your system.
Avatar f tn I have been on Asacol since my dx in 2005. I haven't had any side effects and it really helps to keep my c.d. under control. Good luck and I sure hope it has helped you.

Avatar f tn Hello , i have uc and my GP as just prescribed prednisolene 30 mg a day reducing weekly and omeprazole 20mg a day( plus calcium supplements.) Worried about all the side effects i've read about . Anyone had a positive outcome usi these please????
Avatar n tn people with problems are more likely to post on these forums. There are thousands of patients receiving cataract surgery each week with every kind of lens, and the actual number of posts here describing "intolerable" side effects with Crystalens, even the earlier versions, are few compared to the number of procedures being done.
Avatar m tn Pilicorpine 1% helps but I do not view it as a long term solution because it affects my contrast sensitivity, wares off after a couple of hours and has potential long term side effects. I also have 2+ PCO. Would the Pilocarpine eliminating the symptoms suggest the problem is the smaller optic of the Crystalens or is it more likely the problem is the hazy capsule and the Pilocarpine masks the haze through the pinhole effect?
686769 tn?1236272131 I am still waiting for an answer from the pharmaceutical company on the Humira, as I also have NO insurance. I am on Endocort (steroid with a LOT less side effects than prednisone), Pentassa, Depression meds, Trammadol (pain), percocet (pain), azathioprine 75mg. Still, I am in pain almost daily. Every once in a while I have a good day. I am really having a hard time, mentally and physically. I have always been very active, early to rise and then go go go go...
Avatar f tn Depression is a very common co-disorder of AD/HD. A lot of the time its the AD/HD that is the reason for the depression. And for good reason. If you don't understand what ADHD is doing to you - you are going to be depressed. By the way, anxiety is also a common co-disorder for the same reason. So yes, there is probably a very good chance that you are depressed. Vyvanse can last 8 to 12 hours. Too small a dose will not last as long.
Avatar f tn I have been on it for the last year straight and am not totally sure how much it really works. I had some side effects from it such as nausea and hair loss to a certain extent. The nausea was fixed by taking it at night which seemed to really help. Being on it did not eliminate me from other meds as I am currently back on prednisone 40mg for a month due to a flareup. Pentasa and Asacol never worked for me either. I guess in short every medication works for different people in different ways.
Avatar f tn I had the same issues when I first started taking levothyroxine. Everyone kept telling me that the levo doesn't cause side effects, but I felt like I drank about 25 cups of coffee when I took it! That was 50mcg, my doctor kept increasing the dosage because my TSH was so high. Between 300 and 800. with every increase I just felt worse. I have Hashimoto's Encephalopathy which is a lot different from HD, but still effects the thyroid.
Avatar f tn So I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis just about two years ago and I'm 9 weeks 1 day today, and I've noticed my symptoms of uc are flaring up again, even with being on asacol hd. This poses an issue, because I need to eat healthy for baby. Normally I can adjust what I eat and everything balances out after a few days, but with the pregnancy going on not much of anything sounds good, especially uc safe foods.
Avatar f tn I assume you have a prescription cause you have ADHD or ADD. Depression is a very common side effect of those things. And it will help you with the AD/HD and the depression. You should take it every day as prescribed. However, if this is not the case an you just got some to try out - then you do have to be careful. It is an addicting medication if used in correctly. If you do have AD/HD and follow the guidelines, there will be no problem.
Avatar m tn He was on medication when he was younger but has got off them due to the side effects. I am trying to help him cope with this with out medication. Any suggestions would be great or tell me where to start looking for help.
