Avatar n tn I recently went on a a 7 day cruise and wore the scopolamine patch from the first day and changed at 3 days. A total of 2 patches. I removed the patch the day I got home within 24 hours of removal I became very ill vomiting and nauseated. This continured throughout the next day. I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better.
Avatar f tn I have an exploratory laparoscopy in a week and a half for infertility issues and suspected endo. I haven't really had surgery aside from my wisdom teeth, and as a complete and utter emetophobe I am petrified of being sick that day or so afterwards from the anesthesia/pain meds. I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!
Avatar n tn Hello, my husband and I returned from a cruise three days ago and he seems to be experiencing scopolamine withdrawal--no nausea, but all the other symptoms including anxiety. Thanks so much for this information. I'm going to call his doctor as soon as he's awake again and can tell me which doctor prescribed it.
Avatar f tn No migraines, no nausea. GP gave me meclizine, did nothing. EENT did a hearing test and ENG, both normal. She prescribed scopolamine patch, did nothing. I told her my vision was getting blurry. I went to optometrist since I wear glasses, got new glasses just in case, no improvement. CT with contrast and inner ear normal. First neurologist said I have something like disembarkment syndrome but I did not disembarkment anything.
1903798 tn?1333905288 I think I am going to talk to my PCP about it tomorrow it says it is a anticholinergic agent used for preventing nausea and vomiting associted with motion sickness and recovery from anesthesia and surgery. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. They said when you remove it to wash your hands really well because the med on the sticker can dialate your eyes and I don't remember what else.
746917 tn?1234571359 I told the nurse and she removed the scopolamine patch behind my left ear. I had never been given that before and have no idea why they decided to use it. I went home from the hospital with blurry vision and 2 weeks later not much has improved. Symptoms: bright light hurts eyes- must use hat and sunglasses outdoors dizzy and distorted vision when in bright light cannot drive riding in car makes me sick if my eyes stay open can only use the computer limited time approx.
Avatar f tn Zofran 8 mg that dissolve and scopolamine patches the only thing that saved me.
Avatar n tn You are suffering from sea sickness which is characterized by a feeling of nausea and in very severe cases vertigo after spending some time on the sea craft. OTC prescription medicines like Dramamine and Scopolamine help. Apart from these ginger capsules and wearing special wrist bands also help in managing this condition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasickness Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn What is the best way to wean off the scopolamine patch in an elderly person? Can we use the cream instead and slowly increase the time between use?
Avatar f tn My primary manifestation is severe and debilitating nausea. I also now have heart involvement and am pacer dependent. I have an excellent gastroenterologist. He and other doctors have said that it's a very difficult case to treat. It is unusual as it is marked by very few remissions and has become drug resistant. On a typical day I will wake up with severe nausea, and it sometimes lessens after 3-4 hours. I can feel perfectly fine and am able to eat and drink.
617846 tn?1231553233 I have an old dear patient that I have known for years, who is going on a cruise soon out of Port Canaveral near my house and she wants to use the same scopolamine patch. She is going to give it a test run tomorrow and see me at 2 pm to see if it causes any changes in her eye pressure.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.
Avatar n tn Has anyone with scopolamine patch withdrawal just tried to go cold turkey and tough it out? IF so, how long did it take you to feel better?
Avatar f tn I was at the OB today as he wanted to check on baby xyz before I headed from my home town 8 hours away for 6 days of camping, then back home for 48 hours and then 8+ hours in the opposite direction for more camping. I asked for Zofran as I am familiar with it due to the beginning of my pregnancy, I am 14 week + 6 days now, and I was unsuccessful in getting it. (I do have 5 or 6 left from my prescription).
Avatar f tn I was put on a scopolamine patch in Sept.'10 and have been wearing it fr the last 8 months. It is pute HELL everytime I try to get off of it. The Dr.s have diagnosed me with Meniere's Disease but I can't get off the patch for them to do definitive testing. My Dr. has put me on an oral for of scopolamine but if I am even an hour or two late taking my dose I am deathly ill. And each tinme I get sick it is worse than the time beforel.
Avatar f tn The dizziness and nausea started occuring about 3 days after that and has gotten a little worse. I talked to my doctor and he told me to take Benadryl and Dramamine for the dizziness and nausea. The nausea is gone, but the dizziness is still there. I have to work and it is really hard when you are dizzy. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn It seems clear that the meclizine taper is the way to go to get off of the transdermal scopolamine patch and I will attempt it. In this scenario, from what I've read, Zofran does not appear to be an essential part of the taper. I have also read elsewhere on the web (not only here) that lamictal together with magnesium sulfate is sometimes used to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I saw one person mentioned lamictal but rejected it as a possible solution. Here is my question.
Avatar f tn Thank-you to everyone here who has helped me through these last 10 days of c/t off stadol and lortab. Today is my first day back from summer break to teach, and I still have not eaten anything to speak of, and diarrhea is constant. I have tried BRAT diet but goes straight through me even if I can get it down. I have taken Immodium after Immodium with no results. I can't teach like this, and I feel so run down. Help!!! I am taking B-6.
Avatar f tn Everything I eat causes extreme pain in my upper abdomen, extremely watery diarrhea 6+ times a day, constant nausea and vomiting. The nausea has gotten so bad that for the last 4 days I have been unable to keep food down and am only able to take small sips of water. I have lost 10 lbs in the past 7 days, 5 of those over the past 4 days. I have been to the er 3 times, I had a endoscopy and flex sigmoidoscopy on Tuesday and all pathologies came back normal.
Avatar n tn I have also copied this down and for more information we have a Dermatology forum on MH Triggers for Mast Cell Disease Physical stimuli: Exercise, heat, skin friction, hot baths, hot drinks, cold exposure (especially swimming), sunlight, emotional stress, spicy foods.
Avatar f tn I went on a cruise this past weekend and decided to try the scopolamine motion sickness patch. I removed the patch after wearing it for a day and a half because I noticed my right eye had fully dilated. Its unclear if my eye was directly infected by me touching the patch and then my eye or if this was just a side effect (i don't remember touching my eye). My right eye has been dilated for four days now, each day going down a little.
Avatar n tn I have been going to my doctor about my problem of spitting mucus every 20 minutes especially after eating but after taking injection and the drugs he gives me, the problem never ease. I have lot hope about the curing my spitting mucus a lot. Do you know what my problem may be? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I too have major depression and have tried all of the drugs that are out on the market and they have not worked for me. I tried a patch years ago but I don't remember the name but that did not work either. There is an old drug that you might want to ask your doctor about and it is called Parnate. This was the only drug out of all the drugs that I have tried that has worked for me.
Avatar f tn i've been recently tested for POTS - look it up, it may be something that will ring a bell to you.
Avatar f tn I'm scheduled to have a VNG on Tuesday at 3:15pm. I'm a migraine sufferer and I haven't gotten a clear answer from the audiologist about whether Effexor and Topamax will interfere with the results of the VNG. My neurologist has told me that I'm not allowed to stop those. I also have a question about muscle relaxers like Amrix and Zanaflex. I'm trying to go off of my meclazine and this morning has shown me that the next four days are going to be really rough.
17620464 tn?1458443586 I will say that I have had constant crippling nausea since my second decompression this past november, where my surgeon removed the rest of my tonsils ... and the drug that worked BEST was the scopolamine patches. People usually get those for motion sickness on cruise ships. Maybe it is coincidental? and maybe it will eventually pass? When my nausea is not managed with medication I can not keep food or fluids down, period. Not even a sip of water.
