Avatar f tn I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!
Avatar n tn My husband had the Transderm Scop Patch on for a total of one mo.,due to the fact that when he removed it he would have dizziness & nausea. One week ago he removed it for 48 hrs. and had vertigo & severe nausea. He then had a sudden loss of memory, went to hosp.via ambulance and spent 2 days having MRI,CT,numerous other testing and was diagnosed with Transient Global Amnesia. Fortunately memory returns in 24-48 hrs. but he still has symptoms of dizziness and headaches.
1903798 tn?1333905288 Before surgery they put a sticker behind my ear for nausea. They replaced it 3 days later (they last 3 days). I was really sick to my stomach the morning I was to fly home so I asked for NS to call in a sticker and I have been fine since (3 days now). I am just wondering if those with nausea problems have tried transderm scopolamine 1.5 mg dis.
746917 tn?1234571359 He was convinced I had a bad reaction to the scopolamine patch. He said it would take days to weeks for it to go away. He said the scopolamine affected the focusing mechanism in my eye. My blood vessels and eye nerves looked perfect, he said. He could tell my focus distance was off. My OB/GYN sent me to a neurologist. He couldn't determine what was wrong from the office exam, but ordered a MRI and bloodwork, including thyroid tests.
Avatar n tn You are suffering from sea sickness which is characterized by a feeling of nausea and in very severe cases vertigo after spending some time on the sea craft. OTC prescription medicines like Dramamine and Scopolamine help. Apart from these ginger capsules and wearing special wrist bands also help in managing this condition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasickness Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I havent been able to keep anything down for about 3 days now. I've been to the ER and they prescribed me pills the pills only made it worse. I've tried to eat popsicles and peppermint but nothing seems to help I'm over dehydrated and I'm helpless.. I need help from other moms who have experienced this.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your input --- we ended up using the cream and slowly decreasing the amount of cream within a 24 hour period, per the Hospice nurse's suggestion. Of course the nurse was not at all concerned about weaning off Scopolamine since the patient was only on it for a couple months. I was concerned, so she agreed that we can do it with the cream if we felt safer.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! I also suffer from chronic debilitating nausea, so I know what you are going through, even though it is for a completely different reason.
Avatar f tn The second neurologist is testing me for vitamin deficiencies Lyme DX, ANA. Just waiting for results. Thank you for reading this. It's been 4 months and I'm losing hope.
617846 tn?1231553233 I am currently using a transdermal scopolamine patch for vertigo. I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.
Avatar n tn This was told to me via a pharmacist. For reference, I was on it for 6 mths, sometimes having 2 on, due to violent vomitting because of a pelvic mass.
Avatar f tn I was at the OB today as he wanted to check on baby xyz before I headed from my home town 8 hours away for 6 days of camping, then back home for 48 hours and then 8+ hours in the opposite direction for more camping. I asked for Zofran as I am familiar with it due to the beginning of my pregnancy, I am 14 week + 6 days now, and I was unsuccessful in getting it. (I do have 5 or 6 left from my prescription).
Avatar f tn I was put on a scopolamine patch in Sept.'10 and have been wearing it fr the last 8 months. It is pute HELL everytime I try to get off of it. The Dr.s have diagnosed me with Meniere's Disease but I can't get off the patch for them to do definitive testing. My Dr. has put me on an oral for of scopolamine but if I am even an hour or two late taking my dose I am deathly ill. And each tinme I get sick it is worse than the time beforel.
Avatar f tn other anticholinergic meds would include benadryl (an antihistamine, but with anticholinergic side effects) or scopolamine. In that light I might try scopolamine- skin patches are sold over the counter and are placed on the skin behind the ear-- place your right over the.... that was going to be a joke, sorry-- they don't have to be on any particular area of skin, even though many people think they go behind the ear to affect motion centers there..
Avatar f tn Everything I eat causes extreme pain in my upper abdomen, extremely watery diarrhea 6+ times a day, constant nausea and vomiting. The nausea has gotten so bad that for the last 4 days I have been unable to keep food down and am only able to take small sips of water. I have lost 10 lbs in the past 7 days, 5 of those over the past 4 days. I have been to the er 3 times, I had a endoscopy and flex sigmoidoscopy on Tuesday and all pathologies came back normal.
Avatar n tn I have also copied this down and for more information we have a Dermatology forum on MH Triggers for Mast Cell Disease Physical stimuli: Exercise, heat, skin friction, hot baths, hot drinks, cold exposure (especially swimming), sunlight, emotional stress, spicy foods.
Avatar f tn I went on a cruise this past weekend and decided to try the scopolamine motion sickness patch. I removed the patch after wearing it for a day and a half because I noticed my right eye had fully dilated. Its unclear if my eye was directly infected by me touching the patch and then my eye or if this was just a side effect (i don't remember touching my eye). My right eye has been dilated for four days now, each day going down a little.
Avatar n tn If an underlying cause is not found, anticholinergic medication can help, such as atropine, scopolamine, or even benadryl. The blood in your sputum is concerning, this needs to be checked by your doctor since that does not commonly accompany sialorrhea.
Avatar m tn Has anyone tied the scopolamine patch to alleviate depression? I have been on so many different anti-depressants for over 15 years; nothing alleviates it. I heard that many people have had relief from the patch when no other drugs seem to work, but I am scared to try it after reading the posts above. Please let me know if you have tried this patch to alleviate depression and what your results were/are. Thank you.
Avatar m tn They did some blood work, which came back clean, pumped Valium into me and it at least settled my stomach (which by the way, had no pain, just nausea/dry heaves). I was sent home with scripts for Valium 5 mg, Meclizine 25 mg and scopolamine patches. I was able to get through most days by taking 1 Valium and 1 Meclizine per day to get through work, sometimes with the patch, sometimes without. I thought the symptoms were getting better, but I went to an ENT doc for a second opinion.
Avatar f tn Can someone pllease tell me why when sitting down i get so dizzy i have to throw up. The numerous doctors cant find anything, they do believe me the just can't find out what the problem is. My blood work is excellant. This is becoming very annoying. Sometimes when this happens i get a headache, but catscan shows nothing. always when this happens i can't eat anything for 3 days to a week and sometimes can't even keep fluids down. Can someone please help me understand why?
Avatar f tn They should have someone in the office who can tell you which medications you need to stop. If not, ask them to give you the phone number of another audiologist who performs VNGs. They should be clear about those things with the patient! After all, they want to get correct test results, and without confusion or undue discomfort to the patient.
Avatar f tn s eye, you may accidentally instill some of the medication in your eye if you touch or rub your eye. I have seen a patient present with one dilated pupil after he placed a scopolamine patch for sea sickness behind one ear, and then touched one eye without thinking. Do you use OTC eye drops for redness? See the ophthalmologist for an evaluation, and let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn My PCP did blood tests and found high levels of the Ebstiein Barr Virus. Like MS it has different symptoms for different people. Low grade fever is a give away.
