salbutamol in pregnancy

I am 19 wks pregnant and suffer from terrible allergies this time of yr and have to use salbutamol 100micrograms inhaler. I use it up to 3 times a day. My midwife is uncertain if I can use this while pregnant and I have read up on possible effects to the baby and I am terrified. Has anyone used this while pregnant??

thank you for your comments brooke, i also was told this by the doctor too but i have not taken my salbutamol in 3 days and are still getting these symptoms. i was told the effects of salbutamol last only a short while. thank you so much for your input, it is much appriciated.

Do you take these on a daily basis. Medrol is hardcore. What does your doctor say about medrol during pregnancy. I assume you mean albuterol in the nebulizer. I've taken that during pregnancy...but that's when my asthma's been out of control. Sound like the meds you are taking are "short-term". Those aren't anything you would take on a regular basis for controlling asthma. In any event...

bronchodilators and caffeine in tea are both stimulants and cause a rise in heart rate - when you combine them you may get even more of a response (called syngery) then you would see from either of them alone. You could try drinking herbal teas that are caffeine free and this help stop that affect.

I took her to the doctor who prescribed her Salbutamol cough syrup 3.5 mg 3 times a day saying that she has wheezing. Is it safe? It is not releiving the cough at all, already tried for one and half day. It is about the same.

Do not suppress them, instead cough as often as you can. If you have not already, give your MD a call since this has not cleared up in 2 months. Are you a smoker? Have you recently had the flu, pneumonia?

Hi, my GP has changed my meds today from seravent, becotide and salbutamol to Symbicort turbohaler. I have never used a turbohaler before and am finding it really hard to "suck" the drug into me! I have read the instructions and followed them to the letter but it just seems really difficult to suck through. Is this normal? or could the turbohaler be faulty? Also does it matter if i hear 2 clicks when loading? Please help as really need it to work!

Spirometry gave a figure of 82% (blow out in 1 second - cant recall the tech term). Improved about 7% with salbutamol. Suspect I did better than this a few years back. Had a scan (big white donut thing) - normal. Cholestorol normal/good. Apart from this, I'm not unfit - I do sports, jog 5k 4 days a week. I'm trying to find out if this is a) uncontrolled asthma and/or b) lungs settling down after stopping smoking and/or c) early signs of COPD.

I just feel sooo tired of breathing, i need to concentrate soo hard on breathing and its just not giving up. Ive used salbutamol a few times and it seems to help a little. But the worst came on thursday just past. had my annual physical exam, had my chest xray and found out that its impression is LINEAR FIBROSIS IN LEFT PERIHILAR REGION OTHERWISE NORMAL. the physician prescribed clarithromycin 500mg twice a day for 1 week. and salbutamol + guaifenessin cap 3x a day for 1 week. i am worried about this result. i planned to have the xray plate re-read by another radiologist for 2nd opinion and or have my repeat my chest xray before starting the regimen for the said initial result. pls help me.

He gave me antiobitocs, mucinex, allergy meds (As a precaution, he thought it may have been caused by this but I doubt it, never had an allergy in my life), cough syrup and an inhaler. Now this inhaler is a Qvar,40 mcg of beclomethasone. It says take it twice a day. This was prescribed for what I assume to be my shortness of breathe that I was having very very often. I start to experience shortness of breathe about every 4-5 hours after a puff of it.
