Avatar f tn I have asthma and I only have attacks when I caught a flu or cold and I usually just drink salbutamol cough syrup and it would go away after a few days. But now I had it for 3 weeks. and the doctor told me to start using an inhaler twice a day. Then I was told to take ventollin expectorant I took it but nothings happening to my cough. Then she prescribed clarithromycin and I took it twice a day for a week. It got better,I had no difficulty in breathing anymore the I rarely cough the whole week.
Avatar n tn I just went to the doctor, most likely viral bronchitis and he gave me an expectorant, and an inhaler (Salbutamol). The problem is that I am suposed to fly to South Africa on Monday and compete in a 3 day mountain bike race starting wednesday. The days will be very demanding and I am worried how my lungs will perform, moreover are there any possible short and long term effects. I feel totally fine.
Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.

Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
Avatar m tn can i give salbutamol in 1st trimister thretened abortion?
Avatar m tn The inhaler (if used correctly) will help open his lungs but he is going to need an expectorant and an antibiotic to get over it. Make sure though that if it is bronchitis he actually takes all of the antibiotics or it just comes right back! Make an appointment with your doctore and in the meantime try giving him some sort of expectorant/suppressant mix. Like Robitussin. It will help alot. Also, keep the air at a comfortable humidity level.
Avatar f tn I would like to ask if the ipratropium inhaler is available with the combination of salbutamol and what brand?

1580703 tn?1651904887 C is, however a mild diuretic and if you are on an expectorant (which requires good hydration) the mucus may not clear as well. It will in no way inactivate your immune system.
Avatar n tn If the fluid is due to an active bacterial infection (yellowish color of expectorant) you can endanger others by coughing and aerosolizing bacteria. As a rule of thumb, you will be contagious until the expectorant disappears or becomes colorless. It is best to stay away from the eldery or those with compromised immune systems while experiencing active bacterial pneumonia. The use of prednisone with these infections is controversial.

Avatar n tn Hi all, I am a 21 year old male living in Toronto, Ontario and do not smoke. I have severe allergies to most trees. For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning.
Avatar n tn It isn't really 'purging'; it is just the body adjusting to changes in autonomic tone as the narcotic receptors slowly return to normal. Everyone has a slightly different withdrawal experience; so far I would say to count yourself lucky. By now you might be having a more miserable experience. Opiate withdrawal takes from one to two months, for the most part.
