Avatar n tn There is never an easy way to lose weight in my experience. Dieting and losing weight is not easy for anyone, but I do understand the particular challenges for diabetics. After going through a few lows, you often just feel like giving up. The one nice thing about diabetes is that it provides you with the basics for a healthy balanced diet, so we already know what we should eat.

614508 tn?1265281722 My understanding from the drug handout is that it is normally prescribed for migraines, seizures and weight loss. My doc has just increased my dosage to 100mg 3x per day. I have experienced some deterioration in my eyesight however I'm not sure if that's attributed to age (hadn't had my eyes examined in 2 years) or the Topamax which I've been on a lower doze for 6 weeks. Other meds: Lithium, Zoloft, Ativan. Any advise would be welcome.
Avatar f tn I was feeling a bit hyperthyroid previous to the 2 weeks without (possibly due to the weight loss). Weight loss was a good thing, I've been trying via Weight Watchers to lose weight. It was lost over several months, so at a normal rate, I believe. My last test result for TSH was .094 uIU/ml and the standard range is from .3 to 5.6 (my doctor wants me at around .
Avatar n tn Don't overdo the green tea -- it has a stimulant in it. L-carnitine (in moderation) should not be a problem. These supplements will not likely help with weight loss though....that is more of an issue of calorie balance.
Avatar f tn Hi, Salbutamol is contrindicated in asthma. It is a long acting beta2 agonist that can be dangerous for asthmatics to take without an inhaled steroid. Also, they take too long to be effective which makes them useless as a resuce inhaler as you have been trying to use it. I would recommend that you request further testing from you doctor. The methylcoline (sp?) challenge is the standard and definitive test for asthma. You are give puffs a methylcoline to try to induce an asthma attack.
Avatar f tn You should be aware, though, that weight loss medications are, typically, not meant for long term use, and while weight loss may result, you risk regaining the weight, as soon as you stop the medication, if you don't adopt a healthy lifestyle. Before you resort to weight loss medication, I might suggest that you first determine if your thyroid hormone dosage is optimal.
Avatar m tn In the last year she has had her thyroid dosage upped three times. ANd when she went to the alergist Dr. for her check up, he said that her lung function improved to the point that he cut her dosage of Advair in half.
Avatar n tn I'm on week 31 of tx. The HepC is no longer active and I only have 17 weeks remaining on the program. The results are very positive. However, I still suffer from all the major side effects and had to go on leave to try and just focus on my health. The most important one to me has been my weight loss. Since the beginning, 03/09, I've lost 60 lbs and am still loosing. My appetite has been little to none, but I am attempting to change that.
Avatar n tn Hello, Over the summer, I started having symptoms of hyperthyroid (anxiety, heart palpiltations, insomnia, weight loss). My tsh in my bloodwork came back low (.3 i think) They retested me a couple weeks later and it was within range (.6 i believe). The symptoms cleared, but recently I noticed a few returning - got tested again and now tsh is borderline (.45). My doc said to get tested again in 6 months. All my other levels are in range, but in some cases barely.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but a mom of a type 1 child, and the daughter of a type 2 diabetic. I know that from experiences with my daughter it was hard for her to gain weight. When she was diagnosed the endo wanted her to gain 5 pounds. It took her over year. I have a sitter that is a type one diabetic, she needed to lose weight.
Avatar n tn I'm still confused about how long is too long to be on this medication and will the weight loss adventually stop or at least slow down? What is non-stimulant Strattera and how will it help my son?
Avatar n tn Topamax (Topiramate) is not a weight loss medication; I'm surprised you'd find a doctor to prescribe it for that. I take it daily, for peripheral neuropathy. I've been on it for about 2 yrs and it's done nothing to help with weight loss. Of course, the dosage has a lot to do with it... what dosage are you on?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Phenterrmine for 3 months and after needing to up the dosage have been loosing 1-2 pounds per week. I have 2 months left of the prescription and am very happy with how I feel. More energy, reduced appetite, better will power. I have 80 more pounds that I want to lose and am very worried about what to do when the prescription runs out. My doctor has suggested switching to another weight loss drug, possibly Qysmia Belviq, or Saxenda. Wondering what others have done.
Tbd Weight loss can definitely affect dosage! If you've lost weight, definitely have your BP checked. The cause of weight loss can also affect meds. (Has happened to me; I am not an MD, but am a pt interested in BP matters.
Avatar f tn Lexapro can cause weight loss or weight gain. I have heard about Wellbutrin for weight loss. But I wouldn't recommend that he just starts using it again for weight loss. It was for sepression so the dosage prescibed was for that condition. Encourage him to see a doctor.
Avatar n tn It has for me. I just have no appetite. I'm hoping that turns around once my levels are up!
Avatar f tn Severe weight loss, nausea, debilitating cough and shortness of breath, migraines, severe mood swings, extreme fatigue, insomnia, leg cramps, etc. Still managing to eat a little with Riba doses, and so far water intake is good. Food starting to be repulsive to him, as he says it tastes like pure salt no matter what the food is.
