Common Questions and Answers about Safety of augmentin in pregnancy

augmentin

Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn There are antibiotics that are considered safe during pregnancy. You can also ask your pharmacist about safety of penicillin or other antibiotics during pregnancy. You need to treat the infection, because that in itself is risk for you babies.
Avatar f tn Under these circumstances where you do not have knowledge of his status I think it is better to err on the side of safety.

Avatar f tn docs are aware of what could hurt your baby and would not give it to you if it would compromise your pregnancy. Feel better it is all gonna be alright. I'm almost out of first trimester and can't wait!
1932244 tn?1323292210 For this reason, you should be sure to consult with a high-risk pregnancy specialist or other experienced OB/GYN early in your next pregnancy and ideally before conception. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you waiting till your in your second trimester to start exercising cause the baby's so small and fragile any wrong move could cause your body to try to expel the baby but it is safe as long as your body is excepting it & your comfortable don't push yourself to hard or lift to heavy I'm 25 weeks & still work out like a champ every other day
Avatar m tn The augmentin probably isn't working as it may be a viral infection by your description. Sometimes these things take a while to go away.

Avatar f tn most ob/gyns advise the use of condoms as well as the b/c pills to help even more with the prevention of pregnancy.
Avatar n tn You can sleep on right side as well . You can try doing it now though to get used to it . Later on in pregnancy if you wake up on your back just roll over baby is ok . He or she will most likely make you uncomfortable before anything bad happens your body will signal a response to you most likely . I had thos worry and sometimes I still wake up on my back just get used it your side sleeping now while its still comfortable for you .
Avatar f tn Normally it is safe thru your whole pregnancy but it would be best to talk to your doctor since you did have spotting! Need to make sure the baby is ok.
Avatar f tn and i was prescribed with augmentin antibiotic and panadol. Can i ask if any of u who have went through pregnancy and have to take so much medications..especialy the local anaesthesia.
Avatar f tn In general, drugs such as Ultram (or tramadol) are not recommended during pregnancy or during breastfeeding because there is a lack of safety information. This does not mean that it will necessarily cause problems for the fetus or baby, but since the information is not known, it might. Animal studies have shown that the drug crosses to the developing fetus, but the danger to a developing human fetus is not known.
Avatar m tn At about 3 weeks I developed a mild sore throat and sometimes a feeling of pressure in the ears. I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. The symptoms have not gone away....and some days the symptoms are very mild and I feel it has gone away.....only to come back again. (1) Would the antibacterial treatments I received have cleared gonorrhea in the throat?
Avatar f tn no she is not pregnant.
Avatar f tn If I were your treating dentist, I would look for other potential source of infection. In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn He thought I had a secondary infection in the uterus and gave me Augmentin to take along with the other I am taking. It has been 36 hours and my breast is still really red and sore. I don't know what to do! I am worried that it may lead to sepsis?? Or should I not be worried since I am taking augmentin? It is the weekend, so I can't call my doc again. I haven't had a recurrence of fever or chills. Was the fever just a symtom of Mastitis?
Avatar n tn using microwave in preg is really dangerous esp if ur warmg thgs.don stand in frnt of it.the waves hav bad effect on the feotus.so all of u b careful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn I don't see palpitations listed as a side effect for Augmentin. http://www.medhelp.org/drugs/Augmentin/show/5288 It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
Avatar f tn I dont know... It might depend on the gun... But I could be totally wrong. What I do know is that early on in your pregnancy you're most prone to losing the baby so the most important time to take precautions is now. Definitely check with a doctor...
Avatar f tn Every woman and situation is different.. Most doctors recommend some form of moderate exercise during pregnancy(as long as there are no complications) and if you have been exercising regularly you should be fine. I would suggest doing light exercises and see how your body reacts. If you have any bleeding, cramping etc... I would stop. Congratulations.
