Well, augmentin can also cause seizures as a side effect of its amoxicillin component, even though the incidence is low. Other antibiotics likely to cause seizures are ciprofloxacin, cefdinir, cephalexin, and penicillin (there are others too like metronidazole and TB drug INH etc). Usually taking vitamin B along with antibiotic prevents the likelihood of seizures. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

My doc prescribed Metronidazole for that, and two days later I had a horrible fever and chills all night long (which I thought was a side effect of the Metronidazole) and my right breast was horribly red and really sore! I also had a cramp in the right side ovary. I went back to the doc, for the ovary pain (thinking the breast thing would resolve itself I stupidly didn't mention it to him).
I used a condom from beginning to end. Also I freaked out and got script augmentin 875 that I started taking 3 days after said encounters. These were 2 different encounters. Am I at risk for stds?
It is possible for your infection to be resistant to azithromycin, the typical treatment for NGU. The Augmentin will have no effect on chlamdia, which is what I think your doctor suspects you have. Go back into the doctor. He/she will most likely do a culture and sensitivity to identify the infectious organism as well as determine what antibiotic or combination of antibiotics will work best.
The diarrhea could be a side effect/adverse effect of the Augmentin. If it was present prior to use of that medicine, you could have had a gastroenteritis going on and that could explain why you still have an axillary lymph node enlargement. Have you recently had a diet change (added something that you never had previously). Have you increased dairy in your diet? Increased amount of fried foods?
Dr. asserts exam was not the cause; I was on my 7th day of augmentin at time of exam for a UTI. Saw a new opthamologist, who diagnosed blepharitis; with no explanation of the vision change. Help! I'm suffering inflammation of the tonsils and taking now augmentin 1g (875mg amoxcillin + 125mg clavulanic acid). Also, i take some antiseptic and anti-inflammatory medication like bradoral 0.5 mg (domiphen bromide ). The augmentin probably isn't working as it may be a viral infection by your description. Sometimes these things take a while to go away.
Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions.
1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this?
2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS?
3. Do you think that the thrush is medication related or HIV related, would it show up after 3 months?
At about 3 weeks I developed a mild sore throat and sometimes a feeling of pressure in the ears. I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. hi, im 28 years old. I have a red pimple in the middle but more on the right side of the breast for around 4 years. it was small than the nail of my first finger but over the period of four years, it just had increased a little larger than that same nail's size. it used to hurt a little but now it frequently hurts and causes much disturbance sometimes. A surgreon told me that its benign and may be removed by taking augmentin for 5 days. I took but had no effect on it.
I am on birth control pills (never really had a problem with them) and for the past few weeks I have been on 2 different antibiotics (Augmentin 875mg) and (Doxycycline 100mg) I am also supposedly positive for Lymes Disease. If I were your treating dentist, I would look for other potential source of infection. In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.
