Avatar f tn Most of the time when you miscarry its not cuz of anything you do, the primary cause is genetic malformations that aren't conducive to life. Heavy lifting won't cause a miscarriage but as you get bigger it can cause back problems. Other things that can cause a miscarriage are accidents/ trauma or severe acute infection... You do need to watch what you eat though.
Avatar f tn I would get a note from your doctor saying you can't lift over a certain amount. I am now on bed rest because I was still lifting a 5 gallon bucket of ice plus other heavy stuff because my manager was understaffing.
Avatar f tn Look up your pregnancy health and safety leglislation for your country. In ireland if you work in a job where there is a health and safety issue e.g heavy lifting and where the job can not accomadate u in another suitable line of work, well then u are entitled to go on pregnancy related illness leave and your employer must pay u in full for this. They are under no obligation to pay u for maternity leave though.thats up to the employers discretion.
Avatar f tn I clean vacation cabins and we are in the process of shutting them down for the year. So im doing a lot of climbing up and down on chairs and counters and stairs and stools lol. Also, heavy lifting, running around, and working with harsher chemicals. Then I go home and clean. Needless to say, im a little worried. But I don't want to bring my baby girl into this world without being able to give her the life she deserves.
Avatar f tn All everyone tells me is britax or gracco, are they the only options for best car seats? And what is really important other than safety of course?
Avatar f tn If you've been exercising prior to pregnancy, then it's completely safe - so I was told by my doctor, and I didn't have any problems, even in the first trimester. My GP just advised me to stop lifting weights.
Avatar f tn t know any of your background information. Your doctor might not want you to for the safety of your baby. It just depends. Next time discuss it with him/her.
Avatar n tn Yes you're still very early.
Avatar f tn I currently work for a Veterinarian which is more large animal then small. So i am around vaccine both cat, dog, cow, calf, bull etc I am avoiding contact with them. I'm still early and the individual I work for really likes to talk/gossip... what do i do? I would rather tell them and have everyone and their dog know, then risk the health and safety of the baby. Just need some answers ...
Avatar m tn John, I think it is not too wise to leave a compression over your nerve for more then 2 months؛‎ I mean pain, bad life quality, high possibility of recurrence each year or 2, bad quality of life-continuation (no lifting for life, no jumping, no safety in minimal efforts!) more over the muscular damage could be chronic, and all this danger could be canceled with a total discectomy done via traditional safe surgery or through the relatively new mini incision surgery under microscope.
Avatar n tn There is also consideration taken of the size of your aorta compared to the dialation. My surgeon is waiting to about 4 before surgery but, I am female and my normal size is on the low end. In your case though I'm wondering why you aren't having surgery now-dissection is very dangerous and needs to be avoided. I would get a second opinion right away. I was also told to avoid heavy lifting as it can cause too much pressure on the aorta and cause it to rupture.
Avatar n tn Try to do as many standby assists as you can or try to be a float between halls (assuming you work for a nursing home). Never be afraid to ask for help even from the nurse. I'm a nurse and I help my aides when they ask.
7763771 tn?1510501652 Ok, I understand we all have different types of jobs and every pregnancy is different-but- I am currently 19 weeks (due in Oct), I work in a very demanding field and dont really have the luxury of just taking another break. I am not really showing yet although it still gets sore and uncomfortable when im working- lots of bending down pushing and lifting ect. My position will be changed later on although its still pretty much the same line of work.
Avatar f tn Can anyone give me any tips for working? I work at McDonalds and still have to do heavy lifting and do just as much work as everyone else.. I also don't get to pee when I need to which is painful. Any tips on how I can get them to go a bit easier on me without people thinking I'm receiving special treatment?
Avatar f tn What is the weight limit for lifting when you're 5 weeks??
Avatar f tn Really! Ok that makes me feel better. Hate having to always ask for help. When im not even that far. But thank you!
Avatar f tn I was told I shouldn't lift but I'm finding it hard not to I've moved a few months ago and still have a room full of boxes to sort out. Should I get someone to lift em for me? I just don't know how much I can lift without causing damage.
Avatar f tn I probably wouldn't, just to be cautious. I went through a bleeding scare at 5 weeks and the doc told me not to lift heavy things at all, but the first trimester is always the most fragile period for the baby. After going through my big scare, I don't try anything risky or lift anything heavy. Finally learned, after a lifetime of stubborn independence, to ask for help.
Avatar f tn I'm 21yrs old and 9 weeks pregnant. I work for an airline and sometimes lift 50lbs bags at check in. I've heard lifting heavy weight can be bad and lead to miscarriages. However I've also heard that because I have done this job for the past 2 years I should be fine because my body has adapted to it. I told management and they said the only thing they could do is congratulate me...
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I was wondering how you all are feeling about lifting items that are somewhat heavy. I have been super careful not to lift anything heavy and then today (for some unknown reason) I picked up the laundry basket and walked it to the other end of the house. It probably weighed between 10-15 pounds. Could that be bad for me or the baby? Please tell me I am being EXTRA PARANOID about this.
Avatar f tn depends what you are talking about... weight lifting, if you were doing it before you were pregnant then your fine to continue doing what you did at the gym if it still feels comfortable. if you mean things around the house and so on i carry loads of laundry at home up and down are flight of stairs since the beginning im 32 wks now ( no problems) i also have a 4 year old niece i carried early in pregnancy she's probably about 25 or 30 lbs.
Avatar f tn Your doctor should tell you at one of your next appts how much is appropriate to lift for your situation.
