666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar f tn I cannot take any antihistamine or steroids orally because I am nursing and now have been using steroid cream for over 2 months. The condition will improve with the creams but still won't go away completely. Is there anything else I can try?
Avatar n tn Doxycyclene is safe for the queen, but not her developing fetuses or nursing babies. They do not have viable immune systems yet and any antibiotic could result in abortion, still births, or deformities. The purpose of any antibiotics is to kill bacteria but it is non discriminatory. That is it kills both the bacteria cause the queen's URI as well as beneficial bacteria needed for the kittens to grown and develop.
Avatar f tn Nursing tank tops, bring a few different type of nursing pads. Like period pads some will feel more comfortable than others. Def. Your nursing pillow, maybe a regular pillow. My little one was small and I had to put a regular pillow under my nursing pillow for nursing to be comfortable for both of us. Def. The nipple cream. Snacks! The first few weeks every time I nursed I became so hungry. And 3 am at the hospital snacks were kind of limited.
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar f tn Is anybody going to give brestfreeding a try I really want to for the baby's sake hope I will be able to but I have heard it's fairly hard
Avatar f tn Go with the safe option and buy a couple sports bra type nursing bras for now and then buy fitted ones after your milk comes in. When my milk came in I went from a 34B to a 36E overnight. No way would I have guessed the right size, and there's no way someone else would have been able to pinpoint the right size for me either. Some women get much bigger right away and some women barely get bigger at all.
1431734 tn?1421011671 good news tho no more nausea or need for zofran for weeks. funny how sx change.wish i had a source for unused meds. i will do some research as i have 30 zofran left.
Avatar m tn Many educational websites and other resources list exposure as a risk, because infants can be infected by nursing. But those sources rarely tell the full story. Among babies nursed by HIV infected mothers, only about 10-15% catch HIV; and typically it takes 6 months before they become infected -- all the time swallowing several ounces of milk ever day. Given that low infectiousness, what can the risk possibly be through exposure to a drop or two?
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, I had seen some where making use of Benadryl antihistamine oral for dogs... making some adjustment for weight. Thus a 20 pound Westie would be a small fraction of a pill. I just now wonder too if the antihistamine oral might also be of some help with the skin.... I'll stick to one experiment at at time, otherwise the results can't be mapped to one action. I may try Gold Bond, that too had come to mind, in fact I tried a little a few weeks back and decided not to continue.
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
1661682 tn?1313135396 Its not re-opening. You need to get some Lanolin creme they have it at most grocery stores by the nursing pads. I have a scare from a surgery I had in 05' and I had the same problem each time and I breast fed all 3 of my babies after the surgery. The creme does wonders.
Avatar n tn I meant to say that azithromycin is safe and effective in nursing mothers, with no adverse effects for the child.
Avatar f tn I recently found out i am expecting again but am also still nursing my 16 mnth old. so far it doesnt seem to bother me or the baby. i've googled it but have been getting mixed answers so now am confused. just wondring if anyone has had this experience and can tell me first hand.
Avatar f tn I take hydroxyzine for anxiety. Its a antihistamine and also helps with my insomnia. However I only take it when needed because it is unknown how it affects fetal development. I also started seeing a mental health counselor for my PTSD and other anxiety disorders.
Avatar f tn I'm 33 and prego for the 1st time. I'm 5 weeks along and so terrified of doing something wrong. I suffer from migraines several times a month, and normally take Excedrin Migraine daily. (Although stopped this week when I found out I was pregnant.) My hubby thinks I'm going over the edge because I refuse to drink the diet ginger ale we just stocked up on, but at least understands the no lunch meat thing.

Avatar f tn now is 5 weeks pregnant again and everything is looking good. I have been TTC for two years and am wondering if I should try it. Is it safe? I actually took Mucinex for sinus congestion for two days & today I have the egg white, stretchy, CM. That is what made me think of my friends situation. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn In mine I have a going home outfit (very loose and comfy), a set of shorts, pj bottoms, and 2 shirts in case I get stuck another day for some reason, body soap, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, nursing cover and nursing pads, cell charger, hairbrush, slippers, socks, a book and a deck of cards for entertainment. Also my friend told me to get lanolin, which is nipple cream for when you start breastfeeding because it hurts, and its safe for baby.
