Since his older brother had it when he was 9 months old it was so scary I dislike the winters because I fear every cold/cough they get. Has the RSV season begun already? My kids just started getting this cough, all of them have been just fine even my 3 yo until an hour ago...7pm. He has been breathing rapidly (53) since then but he doesn't have a fever or crying. He's sitting down now watching a video now.
Avatar n tn This virus is so common that it probably visits us once or twice or even more ( depending on how many people actually live at home ) . It shows up as ( the common cold) in older children and adults and can present with sneezing , coughing , sore throat and lots of nasal discharge . This virus is not unique in producing these symptoms , there are many other viruses that can do the same .
Avatar f tn RSV is a very serious complication with children under the age of 2, but it can affect anyone. It is a severe upper respiratory infection. If you've taken her to get checked out she has a clean bill of health, trust your docs! They take RSV very seriously. My newborn niece had RSV. She had a rattly cough in her lungs and had to have breathing treatments.

Avatar f tn Does any one else have ungrateful and lazy older children? It is hard on my pregnancy with stress. My kids do not care how stressed they make me or how much I have to do to clean up after them. All I hear is I want this or that and dinner was not what I want so throw it away and make us each something different. I have one with a birthday in a week and two with birthdays in December.
Avatar n tn I copied this form a web site Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common viral disease of the lungs. It usually manifest itself as a cold in adults and older children, but can cause serious problems in infants. RSV can cause lower respitory infections, breathing problems, pneumonia or even death. According to statistics, over 125,000 infants are hospitalized annually with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, resulting in more than 500 deaths.
Avatar n tn Bronchiolitis is usually caused by a viral infection, most commonly respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV infections are responsible for more than half of all cases of bronchiolitis and are most widespread in the winter and early spring. ___________ It sounds like the relationship of bronchiolitis and asthma is still being studied. In the meantime, I would work to ease the other factors, such as exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke, that he might be exposed to. Good luck!

Avatar n tn My eleven year old daughter has experienced odd symptoms from about four weeks of age. It seems as though she gets everything that comes along. We are frustrated to say the least. The list seems long: -Elevated biliruben for 5 weeks at birth -RSV and double pneumonia at 6wks -ongoing colds and pneumonias (no less than annual) and strep rashes -RSV at age 2 again requiring hospitalization -Age 2-4 spontaneous vomitting on about a 30 day cycle.
Avatar n tn having a simple clear runny nose and occasional cough that can be treated at home, to severe difficulty breathing that may require hospitalization. Other symptoms might include a low-grade fever, sore throat, headache, and irritability. Younger children, especially those under 2 or 3 years old, are most at risk for more severe symptoms, such as high fever, wheezing, difficulty breathing, a persistent cough, or apnea. I hope this helps.

Avatar n tn S and released within 8 months after several Respigam infusions. The older she is getting the more she develops a chronic croupy cough and is congested often. Rarely does she have any fever to speak of. She doesn't cough anything up. She has had pneumonia once and 2 bouts of RSV neither requiring inpatient care. Also her hands will turn red white and blue when she gets chilled and sometimes even when she isn't chilled. There are no smokers in the household.
Avatar n tn The most common viruses in children are the influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rhinovirus and adenovirus, hepatitis viruses, cytomegalovirus etc You need to maintain proper hygiene of him/her. Also you can give him healthy food like milk, fruits, vegetables, regular exercise to increase immunity. Allergy problems are less seen in children’s who are breast fed.
Avatar f tn I have a 2 1/2 month old granddaughter who was disgnosed with RSV pneumonia, my daughter took her to the er on sunday for really bad coughing and wheeezing. The ER doctor sent her home telling my daughter it was only upper respiratory she got worse a few days later and when she got to her peds doctor she was told her daughter has tested positive for rsv pneumonia and had to be admitted to the hospital ASAP. My daughter was so upset and didn't understand how she got this illness.
Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
