Rsv symptoms for babies

Common Questions and Answers about Rsv symptoms for babies

rsv

Avatar f tn RSV is a very serious complication with children under the age of 2, but it can affect anyone. It is a severe upper respiratory infection. If you've taken her to get checked out she has a clean bill of health, trust your docs! They take RSV very seriously. My newborn niece had RSV. She had a rattly cough in her lungs and had to have breathing treatments.
Avatar f tn can adults get RSV and how old are u when u stop being able to get it
Avatar n tn Maybe go for a second opinion. I would.. It very well could be RSV. My daughter has alot of the same symptoms and they are tryign to figure out what it is.. does he seem to be in distress when his lips turn blue... or does anything about him change when he has a fever... or coughing??? If your doctor isnt giving you proper advice. Go get a second opinion.
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn If I were u I would take him to the hospital. Its better for them to catch it early before it gets worse if it is rsv. Trust me they will put your baby first before anybody else that's there. Thats what happened to me.
Avatar f tn My six month old has RSV! He was tested positive for it two days ago. He is not eating much at all and on amoxicillin. His fever is gone now but he is still breathing fast and still very raspy! The hospital told me that RSV would not affect his appetite it was because his nose was stuffed up???? How long does it usually take for his breathing to get better?? I always thought that most babies with RSV were hospitalized. Isnt there something else they could give him to improve his breathing.
Avatar n tn hard to believe that he had no blue around his lips), then they put him on oxygen and then they did the nasal test for rsv. the rsv test came back several hours later; positive. my son was not overly sick but his cough was horrible and he was not quite himself. he ended up staying in the hospital for eight days. if the doctors had not acted as quickly and responsibly as they did with our son, we could have ended up as unfortunate as you.
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
Avatar n tn I think going natural, especially for babies, is soooo wonderful. I am a nurse, but get disheartened to hear so many babies on Prilosec, etc. at the first sign of what's too often called reflux. It is good to simply keep an open mind. So much of what they say makes good sense to how our bodies work and cope. And anyone who's experienced a colicy baby will tell you "I'll try anything"! Do shop wisely for natural products, including probiotics. You often get what you pay for.
Avatar n tn try village naturals (brand) cold & sinus therapeutic formula, liquid mineral bath. we bought this at wal-mart in the section w/bath salts and aromatherapy stuff. i did not use while pg but when ds was 2months old he was having major congestion. dh and i tried everything dr prescribed and then we were told there was a liquid vapo rub for babies. so we went looking and didn't find it but we found this and it worked wonders.
220217 tn?1209679677 So glad your babies are doing great. I cannot believe that the meds for RSV are that expensive!! OMG! you'd think that the manufactures would have a conscience since it helps babies!! EGADS! Anyhow, Noah is doing good. He has/had tummy/gas issues and Mylacon drops didn't work but Gripe Water did...whew...He is now a little over 2weeks old.......time does go by fast! He wakes up every 3 hours to eat, no matter if it's night or day....so needless to say...
537497 tn?1292553056 Two of my daughters have this after having RSV when they were babies. One of my daughters was hospitalized. Both now have asthma, which is basically what reactive airway disease is. It is usually triggered by a virus, cold weather or exercise. To my knowledge it is not serious. I hope your little man gets better soon. Have you googled Reactive Airway Disease to get more info?
Avatar n tn said he had RAD from what the x-ray showed but said that it could show but never suffer symptoms, or a chronic cough maybe the only symptom, may not ever have wheezing again(which he had only when he had the RSV(bronchiolitis) infection. Nebulizer treatments did not work for him. He breathes a bit rapid when he has a cold and will be very congested, nasal as well as chest, but not in his lungs..phew... Now he has been cold free for 5 days and his breathing is fine.
602157 tn?1443562354 Iv been diagnosed with RSV (basically bronchitis with other cold symptoms). However iv had it now for 3 weeks. It started where I was bed ridden for 3 days with a fever and chills and now its just a constant battle with congestion and a cough. I still have odd pains around my body but it feels like its never going. Any help with how long this virus can last? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I just had my son at 33 weeks 6 days. If anyone on here has had preemies before my question is how long after you brought baby home did you stay in the house? I didn't get a definite answer from my doctor or the hospital. He is now almost 3 weeks and doing well just above 6 pounds. I've heard other moms say right away is okay another said one year!!! I have errands and appointments plus my 5 year old has to be taken and picked up from school during the week.
Avatar n tn a cold will, and if you are implying your baby is premature then you need to call his or her pediatrician as premature babies are eprone to RSV which is a very dangerous respertory illness in children yet alone a premature infant.
Avatar f tn My last child is 3 yo so I think he's still within the age range of being at risk for getting RSV. Since his older brother had it when he was 9 months old it was so scary I dislike the winters because I fear every cold/cough they get. Has the RSV season begun already? My kids just started getting this cough, all of them have been just fine even my 3 yo until an hour ago...7pm. He has been breathing rapidly (53) since then but he doesn't have a fever or crying.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. Her oxygen levels were still not staying up high but she is now doing better. She does have a partial collapse of the right lung and they want to no check her heart due to some blue around the mouth.
Avatar n tn I would like to know what the basic requirements are for a child, especially an infant going to the doctor when they are sick? Is it not a requirement by law for the triage nurse to take the babies temperature when they go in? Aren't they there because they are sick? Shouldn't a doctor know for sure if the child has a fever or not? If a nurse or doctor can give me any advice on this I would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn there are shots that the babies get once a month called synagisis (not sure if I am spelling it right) but they get it to help LESSEN the affects of RSV. insurance companies do usually cover them the shots are once a month for the winter season and they get it for the first 2 years of their lives. my son got RSV when he was 5 weeks old, he didn't get his first shot yet and he was really really ill.
229857 tn?1319029907 Whenever you look up what you can do for symptoms it always has what it could be and RSV and pnunomia showed up now it got me all worried!
172411 tn?1287086265 Okay, so for preemies it can be bad news, but for term babies it isn't that bad. My son was dx'd with it when he was roughly 10 days old, it is a virus with symptoms that are very much like the viruses that we get this time of year in the form of a cold. I was given a med, didn't use it as after a few doses we saw no improvement. You cannot get rid of a virus with meds and since it wasn't helping the symptoms, I tossed it.
Avatar n tn My wife took our son (6 mos.) to the care center the other day after he has been coughing, sneezing, and with a runny nose for about a week. I didn't know she took him until after I got home from work. But I found out that she was given a nebulizer and prescriptions for him. Now my question is: Why would our pediatrician prescribe him xopenex, pulmicort, and amoxicillin all in the first visit and BEFORE the mucus sample lab test results even came back?
