Avatar n tn It would not be possible to make a comment without having a look at lesions and also medications in young children should be taken under a certified doctor's supervision. You should review with the pediatrician and also rule out allergic reactions. Let us know what his doctor advises and how she is doing. Hope this helps. Regards.
Avatar f tn My 1 year old has had a runny nose for almost 5 months now. He has always been a little snorty/congested, but when he got a mild case of RSV in February the runny nose never seemed to go away. I have taken him to several allergists. He did have the skin test which came back negative. One doc. said he needed to be treated for nasal infections (each test seemed to show a different bacteria) but after several rounds of different antibiotics I didn't feel comfortable and left that doc.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been reading your post and researching a bit to see if I can be of help, as your child sounds quite ill in his lower respiratory tract. The RSV can be a serious virus in young children. Were you told much about it? Did the pulmonologist (hopefully you're seeing a specialist!) explain why he/she thinks your son was having these difficulties? Usually a full term baby - even one with asthma doesn't have so many other respiratory disorders.
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
377012 tn?1283965435 well, i know i should post in the maternal and child forum but i know most of u and most of u have children already so here goes!!!!!!!! my 2 1/2 yr. old has asthma and allergies.....had a flu shot on the 11th.......on the 17th he started wheezing, breathing rapidly, running a fever of 102.6...18th ne started getting diarrhea, nasal congestion along with the other symptoms, last night he began vomiting and his cough sounds croupy....could this be from the flu shot or could it be pneumonia...
Avatar f tn My 4 year old son coughs constantly at night. It's a dry, hacking cough which does not bring up any phlegm. It doesn't sound "sick" at all--it's the type of cough I wouldn't even notice except that he does it so frequently. During the day, often when he laughs or cries, it turns into the same dry, hacking cough. Otherwise, I haven't noticed that he does much coughing during the day. Does this sound like asthma? He has never wheezed or had difficulty breathing.
Avatar n tn having a simple clear runny nose and occasional cough that can be treated at home, to severe difficulty breathing that may require hospitalization. Other symptoms might include a low-grade fever, sore throat, headache, and irritability. Younger children, especially those under 2 or 3 years old, are most at risk for more severe symptoms, such as high fever, wheezing, difficulty breathing, a persistent cough, or apnea. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn There can be honest disagreement among experts about the management of RML atelectasis, bronchiectasis and recurrent pneumonia, despite appropriate, intense medical treatment, in young children with a normal immune system. There is general agreement, however that, when localized bronchiectasis, especially of the RML, becomes refractory, more severe or resistant to medical management, lobar resection may be warranted.
Avatar n tn you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.

Avatar n tn I am very sorry your baby nephew is having these problems at such a young age. I don't really understand about being a 'blue baby' although my half sister was one. From what i have learned thru the years, it happens because of the mother and father's blood not being able to mix very well which produces a 'blue baby'. Click on the link below. It will give you helpful information to better understand the pulmonary problems. (Pulmonary is a major artery in the heart).

They can get an terrible infection called RSv its dangerous can cause respiratory problems and if not treated soon enough a hospital stay! My granddaughter had this and we had no clue it was so bad she had to take breathing treatments on a machine they bought her. Please don't hesitate we were shocked when we found out she had this.
Avatar f tn While being there caught rsv and since her immune system is already in overload rsv became the croup. She went into respiratory arrest,bp & o2 dropped. Scariest nights of my life. For now we have to keep her isolated until they know why her immune system is compromised.

593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar f tn So I have a dilemma. My husband and I have a 13 month old son and we don't have any close by family or friends that can stay with him during delivery....anyone know hospital policy on young children in the delivery room? I can call my parents once I know I'm for sure in labor but they live 5-6 hours away and I truly don't want to have to labor/deliver alone while my husband stays with our son. Any advice??
1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar n tn My eleven year old daughter has experienced odd symptoms from about four weeks of age. It seems as though she gets everything that comes along. We are frustrated to say the least. The list seems long: -Elevated biliruben for 5 weeks at birth -RSV and double pneumonia at 6wks -ongoing colds and pneumonias (no less than annual) and strep rashes -RSV at age 2 again requiring hospitalization -Age 2-4 spontaneous vomitting on about a 30 day cycle.
377012 tn?1283965435 he was diagnosed with RSV THURSDAY!! went to doc this morning with new symptoms...wheezing....bright green eye drainage, low oxygen levels, bad ear drainage(dark orange), croopy cough........he was labeled highly asmathic too!!!
Avatar f tn Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information. Stroke is a structural injury to an organ. It can be ischemic (caused by blockage) or hemorrhagic (i.e., bleeding). Patients with cardiac abnormalities may be at higher risk of having a stroke.
