Common Questions and Answers about Rivastigmine patch dose

exelon

Avatar n tn I was on the Fentanly patch (50mcg) for almost a year. I used it as prescribed (changing the patch every 3 days) but started having side effects with my pancreas and all the pain medications I was taking. I talked to my doctor and he asked if I could add a day (changing the patch every 4 days). I agreed, cut down on my other pain medications and tried it. The morphine will build up in your system over time.
Avatar f tn I have been on the estradiol patch for 5 weeks! I was on the .725 dose. I have gained about 8 pounds and I am freaking out! I have been extremely co scoops of my diet and etc. my doctor suggested we lower the dose to the .375 to see if it will help! How long will it be before I see the weight come off?
Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
Avatar m tn I have been in pain managment for 4 year with back and neck issues. I am prescribed Oxycontin 40mg 4x's daily and hydrocodone 10/325 4x daily. Thinking of switching to the patch. Do I need to wean off oxy before using the patch. Do i need to worry about od ing because of the halflife of oxy? So one day I guess they will tell me to stop taking oxy and start the patch i am assuming 100mcg to = what I am taking now. Any help would e great. Pros and Cons to the patch?
Avatar n tn I was on the fentanyl patch many years ago, but for several years, and at a high dose. After developing diabetes, my body temperature made the medicine enter my body too quickly and so created problems. At that time, there wasn't the option of oral - only IV. The only question I'd have is that the GI tract absorbs medicines in oral liquid form quite quickly - unless in a time release form - thereby reducing the slow release quality of the patch.
326947 tn?1252591233 I was put on the patch 4 abot 2wks now 25mcg/hr, And i haven't felt much improvement. Just wanted 2 know is that a good dose 2 start on? Thank you.
1279189 tn?1275244868 Hi Sonya, I'm so sorry that you didn't bring your pain pills with you. When ever they start you on the patch they start you at a low dose and work up. So I have a feeling that this wasn't the intended dose that you will wind up with. You have to work up on the patches, they very seldom start anyone at a high dose. You may find that when you get to the dose that is right for you that you won't need very many pills if any at all.
Avatar n tn My wife found a great doctor in Tampa Florida and for the first time in 15 years is out of pain. She uses the flat patch, 25's. She is getting off all meds. On her next visit to the doctor she is going from the patch to a pill and she is getting off the pain medication. Yesterday she lost one of the patches. it fell off. can she cut the thing patch to make things last......it is not the gell patch.
Avatar m tn What is the dose of the fentanyl patch that you are applying? Is it the equivalent dose of what you are currently on? If not, you may not get equivalent pain relieve from the fentanyl patch.
767538 tn?1276575320 I can only tell you my experience of course, but I did not like it. First, I went from 180mg of Morphine a day to the 25mcg patch. First I got hot flashes, and a "roller coaster" effect, it would work early in the day, then not at all. It also woke me up a lot and my heart would be racing a bit. After about a week it didn't even work at all. I'm back on the morphine at a lower dose and glad to be, I won't use the Fentanyl patch again.
Avatar n tn Do NOT just take the patch off. DO NOT get the patch on your hands and then near your eyes. Depending on the dosage he most likely should not drive. The patch is good for before surgery to keep him out of pain. It's not great if he needs to function. Try not to mix it with any other pills or alcohol. He should not be taking pills from friends or family at all and especially not while on the patch.
Avatar n tn why I was allowed a high dose. Symptoms the same though since not replacing patch 3 days ago.
Avatar f tn I have been on the patch at a dose ranging from 50 to 75mcg moving the dose up and down according to how much pain I was in at the time since 2006. I think it is great for me. I went on the patch because my rheumatologist had me on 450 mg of lyrica a day which pretty much turned me into a drooling blob. My job reqired a lot of concentration brain skills and so i couldn't do my job as a drooling blob. So, I went to a pain management doctor and told her my predicament. she gave me the patch.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.
5602432 tn?1370728940 com and they were here in 2 days. I am on the lowest dose of Fentanyl patch, so I can cut them in half to cover the patch. They work very well if you cover your patch on a smooth area of skin. Good luck!
Avatar f tn The doctors know how to convert the right dose from one medication to another. It would be So dangerous to try and figure out the dose calculation on your own. They are not even close to the same type of Medication and if done incorrectly it could kill you. Be sure to be under a doctors care when going through any transition from one medication to a different one.
Avatar f tn I've been on the patch 50MG. Put one on every 2 days, been on the same dose for 12 yrs. my body is so used to it, it does nothing to pain anymore, I'm also on 8mg. Of Diluadid 3xday. Will I have with drawls going from the patch to the oxy? I used to be on OxyContin like 15 yrs ago, I got weaned off of the oxy too on the patch, I had no with drawls from the oxy, my dr. Slowly weaned me, no problem at all.
Avatar f tn m questioning is that after the overdose from the patch, is it ok to go to a lower dose patch w/o problems, and if he is stupid enough to try smoking after this will there be more health problems? Right now he says he isn't smoking, but boy is he Bi___y! Thanks for all the input And good job Kathyjo!!!
Avatar f tn I then started usin the fentanyl patch and within 5 months was 200-300- mch for a few months. I just cut my dose in half for a week and felt terrible and decided to go ct from them. I took hydrocodone for almost a week then got off them and dont feel that bad. If I were you since you are on a high dose and for so long I would (if you can afford it) doing a slow taper or if you cant doing a faster taper. I wish you all the luck and hope you find something for your pain.
Avatar f tn What dose of the patch are you on? How long have you been on it? Did you get sunburned (even slightly) when you were out the day before your accident? The day of the accident, had you changed your patch and put on a new one or was it still the same patch that had been on the day before?
11214965 tn?1416269155 The difference between the therapeutic dose of tylenol and the dose that causes liver damage is not that much. In my opinion a "breakthrough" dose of percocet is not a good idea. Percocet is liver damage city.
Avatar n tn I had a hip replacement a couple months ago and was taken off suboxone while placed on Fentyl patch 50 for the pain. I was on it for over a month and took off my last patch on Thursday. I am aware that Fentyl is very very strong so is this why the suboxone isnt taking away all the wthdrawal symptoms like it did when I took it after stopping vicodin? I know that no ones an expert or Dr. in here, but I was just wondering what some of you might think about my question.
Avatar f tn I am currently on the fentanly patch (Thanks for the answers about that!). I am using Hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. I am getting a refill of the patch and was wondering if it is okay to ask for a refill of the breakthrough meds. I don't know how often i should be getting that refilled and don't want to alarm them. I have been using the breakthrough med quite regularly as we are still trying to adjust the patch levels.
385161 tn?1270081218 I am on the lowest dose of the patch and obviously having trouble kicking my habit still. I know its not safe to smoke w/patch on and I am well aware it is dumb to smoke at all when I am trying to quit. I just need some advice.
Avatar f tn On first visit, they changed me from Norco 10/325 one every six hours, prescribed by my PCP to fentanyl patch 12mcg. I have severe tmj (have had 4 surgeries) and am waiting for a jaw replacement surgery. I am 31 years old. Today I saw a different doc at PM clinic who prescribed 50mcg patch. I thought the Norco was working well and didn't really want to switch, but they insist I try it. To make a long story short, the patch makes me feel like crap and I am not having relief.
Avatar f tn But it seems that you may have come off of Methadone at a rather high dose. Usually you would taper down to a much lower dose and make the switch to whatever you are using. Are you a pain patient? Have you spoken with your doctor about this?
