Risperdal side effects diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Risperdal side effects diabetes

risperdal

Avatar n tn Abilify is somewhat different than Risperdal as it is a SDA (Serotonin Dopamine Agonist) and as well it is the least likely out of the antipsychotics to cause weight gain and diabetes and less sedating. If it has helped you better or caused less side effects for you than Risperdal your psychiatrist needs to write a letter documenting why. What you need to do is to call your insurance company and find out how to contest a denial of coverage.
Avatar n tn Yes But Is'nt the dose of 25 mg very subclinical?.All AP"s have scary side effects like TD,Diabetes,Akithisia which can occur even with low doses and even short duration of treatment so all I was saying was it should be used for the purpose it was made for.I am scared to get any of the these side effects and that is the reason why I am so eager to get off Risperdal at the earliest which is now 2 days away..
Avatar n tn I am on risperdal and I was wondering what the possible side effects are of smoking marijuana while on this medication.
Avatar m tn There was one side effect that I read that sort of concerned me aside from the movement side effects. Does the inability to move the eyes always go away or can it be permanent? How long does it take for it to go away if it occurs?
Avatar n tn Neurologists have considered my movement disorder to be a diagnostic dilemma, since it occurred an hour after taking the 2nd dose of Neurontin -300mg. The doctor was contacted, and their answer -"Side effects wear off." They kept getting worse, and I was plagued with uncontrollable laughing episodes, which made me too embarrassed to go to the ER.
Avatar f tn The neurologist put him on risperdal. I just read horrible side effects, like breasts on boys. Is there a more " beginner" drug? Since we see a neurologist instead of child psychologist, I am fearful he doesn't know as much about behavioral medications. Sorry so long.
337492 tn?1212458836 I have a job interview Monday and I really want it. Anyone have luck on a low dose of Risperdal w/o yucky side effects? I need a reliable sleep aid!
2010625 tn?1329372056 I really dislike medication changes...it is always a roll of the dice to see what it is going to do...
Avatar m tn I am Ok and am on Tegretol as a mood stabilizer and encountered plenty of side effects from Risperdal like lethargy, dullness so He decided to take it off me.I wonder how long this will go on.I wonder how long this will go on.Hope it stops earlier than 2 weeks as you suggested.I have Three days left before I stop the Risperdal and will be happy to be off it.
Avatar f tn Risperdal 1mg @ bed and he will increase it next visit just getting me level as possible first. Pdoc gave me a pill for side effects, most common, shakes.....I've had this before and as long as it does not inhibit my life too much, I'll deal with it....I am shaking a little....the side effect drug is...Benztropine Mes 1mg. Hope this is of use to you, I'm almost out of drugs as well, sorry to hear you are fuzzy.
Avatar n tn Risperdal could be causing side effects. It caused a lot of side effects in me and when I got better I had my Pdoc taper it to 0.5 mg and will soon stop it.
17218185 tn?1454677673 ve learned that Risperdal has potentially VERY bad side effects like a 1 in 10 risk of Diabetes! The doc said Guanfacine was worthless anyways, but it worked for us...we'll keep waiting for it to be released here in Belgium. Oh, by the way, my eldest son has Tourettes, too, but I didn't know meds existed for it back then. My little brother had TS also, so I am overly familiar with this illness.
Avatar m tn Okay, let me ask this a different way? I want to get off the saphris because of the side effects but am afraid of being suicidal again. I'd heard Risperdal is used as a "booster" med for people being on anti-depressants. I take 40mg citalopram (generic version of celexa) and 225 mg Venlafaxine (for effexor) each day, then went to 5mg saphris in am and bedtime. I wondered about using Risperdal hoping not to have the same side effects.
561706 tn?1333947274 I am on Seroquel XR 600mg and the doctor never told me of cataract nor sent me for eye examination. I was told I had cataract in a community health check and asked to go for operation. I went to a specialist eye hospital where the doctor told me I don't have cataract. A second examination in a university hospital, the doctor I have very slight cataract. I think I will go for a third opinion. I am thinking of stopping my medication.
886552 tn?1241590297 Someone I now was on the same medication because of being diagnosed with schizophrenia. He had side effects like you describe. Turns out he was misdiagnosed and is now off the meds. He no longer has any of the symptoms and is perfectly fine. He was on the meds. only 6 months however. So if you feel you are in a similar situation, I encourage you to discuss it with your doctor and see if the meds. are really needed. Never just stop taking meds. though.
1798419 tn?1315810427 told me that Effexor may attribute to weight gain, and it DOES state this in the side effects printed from the manufacturer, so your Dr. is incorrect. Do your homework and don't trust all the Doctors, find a good one, and also consider natural health options if you possibly can. Good luck!
1625195 tn?1332178662 Is there any way possible to cut the hunger side-effects? Or any tips to battle the nausea that it causes? Before this whole medicine nonsense was happening, I was trying to lose weight (safely!) and this hunger pain and headaches are making this goal really difficult. And the nausea is making day to day tasks harder than the depression was making things. And this is the last round of questions, promise! Its about the Citalopram/Celexa. There is a suit going against Celexa.
886552 tn?1241590297 My comment is kind of void! My side effects were just at start up of the drug! Good luck, I truly hope things get better.
Avatar f tn But for me any kind of medication is the last resort, especially whilst their brains are growing. All medicines have side effects. Some of the medication prescribed for autism/ADHD can have permanent effects such as tics etc. Also, you don't have a diagnosis yet, so how do they know what to prescribe? I know other parents who have had hormes prescribed to help with sleep.
Avatar m tn Haldol is a typical (older antipsychotic that is from Thorazine to Haldol) and has twice the potential of causing short term and long term movement disorders than the atypical antipsychotics (from Risperdal to Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris) but has less of a potential to create diabetes. Some people, especially people with a condition that has psychosis as part of it require an antipsychotic but you could discuss that concern with her psychiatrist.
