It's not the holder, i'm worried about, it's the vial being re-used. Would obvious blood in the vial stain the vial if it wasnt sterilized?
We put our opened vials in the fridge in a measuring cup. Some people after being on the drops for several years can get by with once/day however don't recommend it as my wife tried it and break through symptoms then it took 3 months of misery going back to twice/day for the restasis to kick back in.
My wife and I are both on restasis. Surely you don't mean you're paying $420/month for restasis. That surely is for all your medications. You can buy restasis for cash, no insurance for much less than than and also there is a discount coupon available from the manufacturer. You can also buy on internet from pharmacies e.g. Canada. MOREOVER if you use one vial up completely it will last 2 days. If you used as directed you would use 4 vials. This cuts your cost by 75%.
and no problem with Reused Vacutiner Plastic Holder... But Now I am freaking out that, if TUBE is REUSED... Instead of negative pressure inside the Tube, Postive pressue in tube injected some thing into my vein ??????????/.....Also I saw, the TUBE (With Blood draw) was kept in Horizontal Postion on the Table, the blood was not coming out....
I might be using the wrong term, it is the holder that holds the tube where the blood goes and the needle screws into it.
The nurse drawing the blood used a vacuette quickshield with a needle attached to it and then filled 4 vials of blood. My problem is when she got to the last vial it appeared that blood was in the vial all ready from a previous patient. I know vials are not reused but if there was a human error and she drew my blood into a vial with someone else's blood would there be a risk there. If there is no risk can you please explain.
If you vision was down due to dry eyes it would clear after blinking or when you put a high quality lubriacant in the eye like Blink. There is a new type of intraocular lens out called a Light Adjusted Lens that works well in our practice for people with previous RK which leaves scars and an irregular surface on the cornea. Many surgeons are just learning to do this. Find one that has done 50 more more.
You open a vial and use it as many times as needed during the day, and then discard the vial at night. This way you eliminate preservative exposure on the eye surface. I would also recommend a good multivitamin and Omega 3 (fish oil) supplementation. It is very important to see an ophthalmologist, because some ocular surface problems are associated with systemic diseases, which also need to be treated.
i looked down once and saw her insert the vial into the tube holder, fill it with blood, then grab another one to insert it and start filling it with blood. she did this 4 times. i also dont remember her throwing my needle away either, but again i wasn't really paying attention from what i remember.

I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
I had cataract surgery 5 days ago and wan't to restart my Restasis. Can using it negatively effect the healing?
The nurse take a blood sample for the predonations screening tests. She used a new needle, new vacutainer, but a REUSABLE VACUTAINER HOLDER!. I didn`t saw any blood spot inside or outside the vacuntainer holder, but who knows..
The predonations screening test was negative for all test such HIV, Hep C, Hep B, Treponema Pallidum. Also, the blood collection kit was new !
