My wife is suffering from severe eye pain whenever she reads the book for more than 30 min or watches TV or computer monitor for more than 10 min. The pain does not come instantly but develops and intensifies gradually even after the reading or TV watching is done. Local ophtalmologist has diagnosed her with dry eye syndrome, even though the only symptom that she has is pain. He was not able to find anything else wrong with her eyes. She was tested for Sjogren's and it came out negative.
I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
So my eyes seem to have changed since Restasis, namely, no more astigmatism in the right. It was a LONG and expensive road to figure this out, long story. So I finally got new RX, bought online and I can see pretty clearly at every distance...EXCEPT flat screen tvs! Any. Small or large, set hogh, low...if I am almost on top of the TV or literally straight on my eyes work together to see the image. But the tiniest tilt in any way or more than.
m not sure how you might get Restasis (cyclosporine) check out their website. www.restasis.com Restasis is the most widely prescribed eyedrop in the US. 90% are post menopausal females; 10% males and pre-menopausal females. Seems there should be some way to get the medication. a factor raised is the cost. The drops are non-preserved and you are dispensed two dropperettes to use each day. Everyone, myself and my wife also, use up one completely before opening another.
My eyes are burning when I try to watch TV, computer or when is strong sunlight. In 2004 I had a lasik surgery for medium myopia and before that I had contact lenses. Now I wear glasses for small myopia and astigmatism. I had this problem before the lasik surgery but it was rarely, after the lasik it became permanent. I've seen many doctors and the only cause they could find was dry eye.I 've tried many eye drops for dry eyes but no result. What else could cause me this photophobia?
I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
Tear duct plugs are often used, oral omega 3 (fish oil or kreal oil or flaxseed oil by mouth are often used). In some cases the person is started on restasis but this takes 4 to 6 months before it starts to work.
I would try and see your cornea specialist and tell him/her your desperate and want to move up to a higher level of treatment. Ask about the things I've outlined above.
They said have patience for three months and we will try restasis but I think my eyes being dry is just a complication do to the strain of what I am seeing.
When I view an object that is bright on a dark background I get a hazy bright border around it that appears at different depth of the object. Depending on how bright high it contrasts with black the more I see it.
Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
diquafosol is an eyedrop for dry eyes. It was approved for use in Japan in 2010. It is not available in many countries including the USA. So I have no experience using it nor do I know how it can be obtained in the Philippines. You would likely benefit from getting several other opinions about your problem including one from a specialist in cornea/refractive surgery. Also use the search feature and archives and read the many posts about dry eye treatment.
s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
