Common Questions and Answers about Restasis prescription

restasis

Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
Avatar f tn I have not seen this in my Restasis patients. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn I have dry eyes, so I recently started to use Restasis. But I also have allergy eyes, what can I take that will alleviate the itching, redness withone interfering with the Restasis.
Avatar n tn 30 am, and today at 1pm. At each visit he was able to get my vision to 20/20 with a different prescription. He is puzzled; has never seen anything like it. Suggested trying Restasis even though I don't have classic symptoms of dry eye. He claims that if he explants the Restor there is no guarantee that I won't have the same problem with a monofocal. Anybody hear of anything like this?
Avatar f tn You should be able to buy restasis on the internet.
Avatar f tn I am wondering how well the Melanin Tint Eyeglasses work for this problem? I do not wear glasses so they would be non-prescription. This would be a big step for me as I've never worn anything but sunglasses, but if they'd help, it would be worth a shot. Also, am I right that the above is from dry eyes?? They just never feel dry but watery to where I squint a lot. It's very embarrassing!!
Avatar m tn No restasis works with a plug. What usually would be done is a "permanet" plug that won't disolve but that is easy to remove because it has a cap would be put in and left till you switch to restasis. Collagen and dissolving plugs usually just last several weeks at most.
Avatar n tn Pred Forte is a ultra stong steroid with many possible side effects. It is not a long term treatment for either dry eyes or blepharitis. You should try and get off it as soon as you can and see an Eye MD ophthalmologist for treatment. Also read below: General Information on Dry Eyes a Schirmer test of zero indicates that you have severe dry eyes.
184420 tn?1326739808 does anyone have any ideas how to relieve this, preferably a natural way i dont want to take anymore prescription meds haha ..... i am wearing sunglasses over my glasses outside right now and it is still bad...
Avatar f tn Restasis is the #2 most widely used prescription in the USA and most people are post menopausal females. Over 4-6 months it works to make a younger more effective tear and reduces inflammation on the surface of the eye.. My wife is on it and has had tremendously improvement as has several of her friends.
Avatar f tn Restasis has been found to help both. See an eye MD ophthalmologist, consider a specialist in cornea and external disease. Find one at www.aao.org Superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis is NOT a part of dry eye and blepharitis.
Avatar f tn Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.
Avatar f tn When you call the opthamologist, remind them that you are on the triple med treatment and they should see you right away.
Avatar n tn By far at her age and her gender the most common cause is "Tears Dysfunction Syndrome" this is poor quality tears. It use to be called "dry eye syndrome". However the syndrome ranges from an eye dry as a bone to an eye that waters all the time. This is some information about the conditon. Best RX is usually Restasis and 2 or 3 omega three enteric coated fish-oil. It will probably take 4 months to see an improvement.
Avatar f tn I have used Restasis and have tried allergy drops. My eyes are always red and feel as if I have something in them (which is the bumps under my eyelids). Does anyone know what I can do about this. I've been to so many eye Dr's. and I cannot get them cleared up. I used to wear contact lenses and now I can no longer wear them. It has been almost 5 years since I was able to wear my contacts. Some Dr's. want to give me steriod drops, but I do not want to put them in my eyes.
Avatar f tn This could be the blur although the doctor thinks its possible he uncertain as it is tiny. I am also using Restasis which has given me great relief from dry eye.I might add that although I have seen several eye care professionals none of them suggested Restasis, I had to demand it. The blur predate the Restasis. I know that burning can be a side effect for Restatsis as it wakens the eyes system to create moisture. I don't mind it but it has reminded me of the plug.
Avatar n tn I went to the optimist and told her my problem. She found out my right eye need a more powerful prescription. But she did made a comment that she cannot make my right eye see as good as my left eye. That because my right eye already see the blurriness. I then have the new glasses made, and also a pair of computer glasses as suggested, but it did not help. The symptom still happens and my right eye still cannot read well.
Avatar f tn My wife and I are both on restasis. Surely you don't mean you're paying $420/month for restasis. That surely is for all your medications. You can buy restasis for cash, no insurance for much less than than and also there is a discount coupon available from the manufacturer. You can also buy on internet from pharmacies e.g. Canada. MOREOVER if you use one vial up completely it will last 2 days. If you used as directed you would use 4 vials. This cuts your cost by 75%.
Avatar f tn I used Restasis (which is prescription) because the over the counter Systane was not working all by itself. I used the Restasis when I got up in the am and before bed. In between I used Systane. This worked well and I had no trouble with my eyes during treatment (before starting on Restasis it felt like I had sand in my eyes all of the time.
Avatar m tn My opinion mainly a way of sucking more money out of the pocket of patients and insurance companies. Plus once you buy this you have to get patients to use it in order to pay for it. There is a big movement now in optometric and ophthalmology circles to proclaim oneself 'Dry Eyes Center of Excellence" and this supposedly can addd $500K to $1M extra revenue/year. I think it is a racket.
Avatar n tn In the summer of 07, I became aware of visual difficulties that I thought were resulting from my prescription. In the Fall I began to have dizzy feelings and headaches. The Internist did a neurological and it became clear that I was seeing double on the right side. Could this be related to the cataract surgery? I also have dry eye and am on restasis. That is my only medication.
Avatar f tn I know how you fell. I had itchy dry eyes for months on triple. I started out using Systane Balance which was very soothing. Towards the end of treatment I had to go to the prescription Restasis. I'm finished with treatment and happy to say my eyes are back to normal. Good luck!
343006 tn?1314446471 I can't say for sure if the dry eyes are a side effect but there are treatments for it. There are OTC drops to help keep the eyes moist; there's something called Restasis (sp?) that the doctor gave to my Mom for her dry eyes. Hers were so bad the corneas were scratched up and her eyes were painful all the time. The Restasis wasn't comfortable to use at first because of the damage but now her eyes have healed and feel so much better. I do believe that's a prescription however.
1819252 tn?1317092002 I have both Restasis and Systane. Systane is over the counter and you can get it in any pharmacy. Restasis is prescription and it would be prescribed only if you had your eyes examined by an eye doctor and your eyes were inflamed.
Avatar m tn About 5-6 years ago I went to our Kansas City Discover Vision cornea expert and asked him if he thought I needed to go on Restasis. He agreed. Restasis takes about 4 to 6 months to work. At the end of 6 months my eyes were very comfortable and I infrequently use artificial tears, just restasis twice/day. I have been on restasis for 6 years. NEXT STORY; my wife has the second type. Her eyes watered all the time, she also was using artificial tears (tried many types) 6 times/day.
