Restasis onset of action

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis onset of action

restasis

Avatar n tn Had never had dry eyes before nor had I ever heard of it or used eye drops. Have now taken Restasis (3 months), Polysporin, Lotomax, Azacite, topical antibiotics and a bunch of over-the-counter products, plus lots of Omega 3, black currant and ground Flax Seeds and around-the-clock humidifier. The first year was horrible; now 3 years later it's somewhat short of horrible but getting worse in other areas.
Avatar m tn After I got the Dr prescription, contacted Allergan and many online pharmacy, I just found that Restasis is still not official for sale (it is approved) in Canada till end of Oct. If someone can tell me some online drug stores can ship it to Canada, that will helpful. Now, I need to try the option of punctal plug to treat my moderate to severe dry eye. I plan to try a temporary one first.
Avatar f tn I had plugs in my tear ducts, but the one in the right eye seems to have popped out as my surgeon removed the mask the day of the operation (other also missi g in action). We laughed about this but I think this may be part of the problem. I too am worried about all the hundreds of tiny, tiny dots as I thought it might be evidence of bleeding somewhere.
Avatar f tn I saw 3 ophthalmologists and had all kinds of tests done. My tear quality was poor among other things. I was put on restasis and steroid eye drops which helped immensely with the irritation. I eventually stopped the restasis (the steroids were of course a short course) and everything has been pretty good with only occasional issues that with a day or two of warm compresses have alleviated symptoms. I tried to keep a mental note of what might have caused the flare.
Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with ekc. i went to see a corneal specialist 12 days after the onset. i had th virus in both eyes. the docto prescribed lotemax- to be tapered as well as restasis. my questions are as follows: 1) how long do i need to be on the steroids before my vision begins to improve? 2) by taking the steroids- did i increase the time i am contageous for? if so for how long? 3) what is the point of the steroid taper?
Avatar f tn Hi there, You may not be aware but your question has landed in the MS community which is probably not the right community to answer this question... All i can tell you is Restasis is typically used to treat dry eye to increase tear production, and it also helps decrease ocular surface disease, lessen the severity of dry eye symptoms and significant reduction in ocular pain postoperative with Glaucoma but i'm unaware of Restasis being used to treat Glaucoma specifically.
Avatar f tn I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
Avatar m tn My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly. Read the section on dry eyes on my blog page.
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
Avatar n tn I prescribe Restasis and I use Restasis. I am not familiar with a blue vial holder. I Googled the term and nothing comes up so I don't know anything about it.
1276940 tn?1564515084 In any case it will not change the treatment of either disease. Restasis has been a huge benefit for the dry eye of SS and many products such as Biotene are available for the dry mouth.
Avatar m tn I use Restasis before plugs. Restasis increases quality of tears and reduces inflammation. Plugs best put in by ophthalmologist Eye MD.
Avatar f tn I've had difficulty with intermittent blurred vision for over a year. All neurological tests have been negative. Two months ago, my eye doctor changed my prescription slightly, and also suggested I try Restasis to see if maybe my eyes were just dry. I haven't noticed much of a change. I went today for a recheck. I read the eye chart with my right eye and did OK, but I could barely see the top line with my left eye. I was very shocked, as this has never happened before.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was losing my eye sight about 2 weeks ago. It just came out of the blue. I had lens inplants in 2004. Been doing just fine. Until 2 weeks ago. My eye Dr. / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open.
Avatar m tn I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
Avatar m tn s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
427279 tn?1210919821 but eyes have changed first time in years ...and he said i had extremely dry eyes....wants me to take restasis but kept saying "you may not think it's working for you but it will be just keep using it...hmmmmmm....so anyway all is good just so tired dont want to move...
Avatar m tn My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
Avatar n tn Thank you.I don't think either of those products are available here in Ireland though.
Avatar f tn Hi Kristylew: First of all I would hope that you were on Restasis for a minimum of 6 months. Anything less is not a fair trial. Both my wife and i are on Restasis with miraculous results after 6 months of nothing happening. We both have different forms of Tears Dysfunction Syndrome (AKA dry eye syndrome). Botox injections is the treatment of choice for blepharospam. I have had many patients had it done and it was covered by a variety of insurance plans including Medicare.
Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
Avatar m tn I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective. Read about it on their website and see an Eye MD that specializes in cornea diseases and discuss.
