Restasis ointment

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis ointment

restasis

Avatar f tn I then tried Restasis for 3 months.and all it did was burn, so I stopped. If you read the fine print, Restasis only works in 15% of the people. I found that liquid eye drops can aggravate the situation because they don't seem to contain the "oily" tears that are needed to protect the eye from drying. Often I would get headaches that started with my eyes hurting. I finally found that eye ointments works and Genteal PM was the best.
Avatar n tn Gritty, burning, painful. Dr used the plug. Have tried systane, refresh, with ointment at night and restasis. Warm cloths. Can you help?
Avatar f tn I also had an infection in the left eye which cleared up with an antibiotic/antiflammatory drug and the Ophthalmalogist then started me on Restasis. The left eye still has pain. Can you still have dry eye with Restasis? Maybe this is the cause of the pain. Also the floaters are still in the left eye. Can the floaters cause pain also?
Avatar f tn Hi. Last week I started Restasis for dry eyes. I tried temporary collagen plugs but they did not help.. My dry eyes just seemed to come out of the blue last month. (I've had minor dry eye problems for many years). Now, it's all I think about. My main problem is a windy feeling to my eyes, even in my own home. I am actually dealing with that right now. My eyes actually feel better when they have a dry feeling, if that makes sense.
Avatar f tn So i went to see an Opthamologist and he said i have dry eyes. Since then i have been using various lubricant eye drops, Restasis, and sometimes antibiotic as he suspected eye infection. But till now it only gets slightly better, i still have to use the artificial eye drops at least 6 times a day, plus Restasis. Will that mean i have to stick with the eye drops forever? Are my dark circles related to dry eye? I have performed blood tests and result shows that i don't have any allergies.
Avatar n tn Still, I will reconsider the Restasis and give it more than 3 months. Perhaps a generic Restasis comes along. 110/mo for years will be quite an investment. I do hope that your wife continues to have relief from this horrible condition, and thank you again. There is a website dryeyezone.com. Perhaps this advise and your blog would be of benefit there. I'll include it in my next post. All the best.
Avatar f tn Restasis twice a day, ointment at night, I've ordered TranquileEyes to use at bedtime, and I use TheraTears single use containers when needed. I thought about using the Dwelle drops before bedtime instead of an ointment. I do warm compresses daily also. The flourescent lights at work really bother me by 1:00pm every day. I'm not sure how I can avoid this. Do you think the Restasis is a good eyedrop to help with dry eye? I know you've said it takes 2-3 months to see results.
493068 tn?1224765315 Can you explain why this condition is so painful? I am off and on Doxycyclines and Erythromycin ointment. Is there any other new treatment? I also have glaucoma and have Sjogrens. I have some days that I am unable to read or drive.
Avatar f tn I used Restasis (which is prescription) because the over the counter Systane was not working all by itself. I used the Restasis when I got up in the am and before bed. In between I used Systane. This worked well and I had no trouble with my eyes during treatment (before starting on Restasis it felt like I had sand in my eyes all of the time.
Avatar n tn I told the doctor my eyes appear to look wet and moist. The doctor told me who has the medicial Degree that is dry eye.The doctor has put me on Restasis two drops a day.I don't want to start using something for the rest of my life if that is not the problem. What is your opinion.
1819252 tn?1317092002 I have both Restasis and Systane. Systane is over the counter and you can get it in any pharmacy. Restasis is prescription and it would be prescribed only if you had your eyes examined by an eye doctor and your eyes were inflamed.
Avatar f tn t tell if it has added to already existing discomfort. Have beenn Restasis, Alrex , Pataday and now Muro ointment. I see a well known Corneaologist and he wants me to have the Amniotic Membrane Transplant especially now that I have developed the eye cysts. I don't know what to do -- wld like other opinions on this procedure and its history on long term resolution of Conjunctivochalsis. Also, are my cornea issues related to the extended use of Restasis? Alrex & Pataday?
Avatar m tn About 5-6 years ago I went to our Kansas City Discover Vision cornea expert and asked him if he thought I needed to go on Restasis. He agreed. Restasis takes about 4 to 6 months to work. At the end of 6 months my eyes were very comfortable and I infrequently use artificial tears, just restasis twice/day. I have been on restasis for 6 years. NEXT STORY; my wife has the second type. Her eyes watered all the time, she also was using artificial tears (tried many types) 6 times/day.
Avatar m tn to taurus1203: keep using the artificial tears with the plug. Try using an oil based drop during the day, like Bausch & Lomb's Soothe XP (it will blur your vision for a little bit), and at night use an ointment. When you do get the Restasis use it with the artificial tears, until the medicine "kicks in". Or you might try Lacriserts, an eye insert that works like artificial tears. to des900: dry eyes can be severe and in some cases can lead to corneal damage.
Avatar m tn Did you read the post about the A&D ointment? My eyes get a lil crusty n watery. Created redness on skin around them. The ointment works good. I've cleared up. I also use a wetting solution for contact lens wearers. Good luck. The sunglasses sound like a good deal.
Avatar m tn If younger female or male blepharitis #1 cause. You could also have exposure keratitis. Try Refresh-PM ointment in both eyes at bedtime and be sure you do not sleep with a fan or draft blowing over you.
Avatar f tn Consider using sodium chloride ointment (Muro 128 or similar) at bedtime and preservative free artificial tears every two hours during the day. I'm assuming he's already tried Restasis for this.
Avatar f tn MD states dry eye reason for problem. Using Restasis twice daily, also Genteel eye drops several times daily and Genteel lubricant at bedtime. Problem is unresolved. Is there a solution to this problem or do I just have to learn to live with the constant burning. I am concerned that all of these drops may eventually have an impact on my vision.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have tear duct plugs, use Trvatan Z, arithromycin ointment, Restasis drops, and po Doxycline for ocular rosacea. I just went to my eye doctor and have a corneal scratch and this has been happening very often. My vision is so blurred in this eye and both my eyes hurt all the time Could something more be causing this? I am not scratching my eye or had any injuries. I apprciate any feedback.
917763 tn?1311628896 t live without), over the counter night eye ointment (Refresh or Systane), goggles at night. Eye Dr said not to use fan and gave me Lotemax for short term use (I use it occasionally but not too often because of rebound effect it can cause). He also gave me Restasis eye drops but I decided not to use them because they work thru immune system and I am on week 49 of 72. Didn't want to chance it. May try them post tx though. Dr also said contacts only on occasion.
Avatar f tn Currently I am experiencing eye pain and blurring, also double vision at times even though I am following the regime of Muro128 5% Nacl ointment and drops.Ointment at night and Muro drops twice a day and also Bion drops several times a day,as prescribed by the optometrists. Sometimes at night and early morning I waken with a deep pain which can also occur in both eyes although it is my right eye which is the problem one.
Avatar f tn Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.
Avatar f tn I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
