After I got the Dr prescription, contacted Allergan and many online pharmacy, I just found that Restasis is still not official for sale (it is approved) in Canada till end of Oct. If someone can tell me some online drug stores can ship it to Canada, that will helpful.
Now, I need to try the option of punctal plug to treat my moderate to severe dry eye. I plan to try a temporary one first.
My wife and I are both on restasis. Surely you don't mean you're paying $420/month for restasis. That surely is for all your medications. You can buy restasis for cash, no insurance for much less than than and also there is a discount coupon available from the manufacturer. You can also buy on internet from pharmacies e.g. Canada. MOREOVER if you use one vial up completely it will last 2 days. If you used as directed you would use 4 vials. This cuts your cost by 75%.

All i can tell you is Restasis is typically used to treat dry eye to increase tear production, and it also helps decrease ocular surface disease, lessen the severity of dry eye symptoms and significant reduction in ocular pain postoperative with Glaucoma but i'm unaware of Restasis being used to treat Glaucoma specifically.
My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Buy ENTERIC COATED fish oil you can get it in Walmarts or from Cardiotabs. Put them in the freezer and freeze them. Take one per day with your evening meal for one week. Second week take one with breakfast after a month take two with evening mean and one with breakfast. After two months you can probably stop freezing them. Enteric coated means it goes through your stomach into the small intestine before its absorbed.
What you do is up to you. You present yourself as at the end of your rope.
The redness cont...fine in a.m. to red in eve.--more so in the left. After a 1 mo. of this, I saw my eye dr. for my yearly. I told him I work on the comp. all day and have for yrs and no itchiness. He said it was allergies & gave me Pataday. It stung so I discont. & called & he put me on Elestat. After 2-1/2 wks, the redness cont.,+ still using artif tears 6x a day+ felt dry on the inner white of my eyes where red.
Ask your surgeon but restasis is not stoppeed by our surgeons. Steroid drops are not a problem, in fact I often put the patient on steroid drops when they start restasis to reduce stinging/burning. Use the steroids about 2-3 weeks. Good luck. Be patient. Restasis is a wonderful medication.
My wife has been on it about 3 years with wonderful results.
I have been visiting the eye care doctor a lot in last 6 months, because nothing (all kind of antibiotic drops) seems to take away the whitish discharge and visibly red blood vessels on my eye-whites. Also, sometimes my eyes are sore even when using mild artificial tears.
Today I was told that there is more than enough lipids and mucous, but aqueous layer is almost missing in my tears, and therefore the eyes are irritated. I can see the oily layer in my outer eye corners myself.
My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
You need to ask your surgeon.
If you eyes are that dry and you are on steroids then its likely you need to go on restasis or Xiidra. The latter is very expensive. If restasis is used in vials, not multidrop bottle, it is not that expensive. I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective.
Restasis is the #2 most widely used prescription in the USA and most people are post menopausal females. Over 4-6 months it works to make a younger more effective tear and reduces inflammation on the surface of the eye.. My wife is on it and has had tremendously improvement as has several of her friends.
My permanent plugs have fallen out and even though I dont feel I am experiencing the same high level of discomfort in my eyes due to month long use of restasis, contacts are almost impossible to have in my eyes.
I wear proclear dailies which are thinnest and most comfortable on market.
Any other advise?
Just diagnosed w/ all three. Doc sez to use Restasis and artificial tears w/ no preservatives. Everything I read about Fuchs sez to dry it out, even w/ a hair dryer. Doc sez eye is damaged by current dryness and he cannot do the cataract 'til tears function better in a month or so. Will the Restasis increase the moisture and worsen the Fuchs? What is the failure rate on cataract w/IOL combined w/ dry eye combined w/ Fuchs? He is concerned w/ this combo.
I've recently posted that I just recently started Restasis, but my question is will the red eyes start getting better as the Restasis starts to work. Does dry eyes cause them to be red.......... I mean they are not horribly red, but are somewhat irritated. Will my eyes be like this always or will they get better eventually. My eye Dr. said they're not too bad, but I know that this is not they way they were before.
On my patients I use tear duct plugs only AFTER a 4-6 month trial of ReStasis. ReStasis is a revolutionary eyedrop that has changed the treatment of dry eyes world wide for the better. In the USA it is the second most widely prescribed medication. My wife and many of our friends are on restasis.
Also recent studies indicate that 2 or 3 Omega 3 (enteric coated fish oil) greatlyhelp dry eyes. Takes 3-4 months to kick in.
Hi. I have posted several questions regarding my dry eyes but think I realize what really is irritating them the most. It's the fluorescent lighting at work. My eyes seem fine in the morning then around 1:00, at the SAME TIME every day, my eyes get real watery & hurt. I don't work on the computer at work but do get on quite a bit a home. That also aggravates my eyes. This all came out of the blue 2 months ago. I have been fine up until then which is puzzling..
