Restasis glaucoma

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis glaucoma

restasis

Avatar m tn Generally the IOP is checked before placing someone on steroid eye drops. You should see your glaucoma MD. This doesn't mean you have glaucoma that needs to be treated, the least it could be is you are a steroid responder without glaucoma. Generally the IOP returns to normal within several weeks (2-4) of stopping steroids. I have seen very rare instances in which it remained elevated for 4-5 months.
Avatar f tn / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open. ( looks like a lazy eye) never had it before. He says my inplants look great. yesterday i saw him my right eye had raised pressure to 26.
Avatar n tn So talk to your eye MD team about getting off Lumigan and that entire class of glaucoma meds (prostaglandin inhibitors) and about starting restasis for the dry eye.
493068 tn?1224765315 Is there any other new treatment? I also have glaucoma and have Sjogrens. I have some days that I am unable to read or drive.
Avatar m tn Your profile indicates you live in the United States. So Ivig eye drops must be used in an experimental study as it is not an FDA approved medication that a regular RX can be written for. Also it is important you understand the risks of chronic steroid eye drops which include cataracts and glaucoma. Generally speaking we do not want patients with Sjorgren's syndrome on steroids for long periods.
Avatar f tn I then tried Restasis for 3 months.and all it did was burn, so I stopped. If you read the fine print, Restasis only works in 15% of the people. I found that liquid eye drops can aggravate the situation because they don't seem to contain the "oily" tears that are needed to protect the eye from drying. Often I would get headaches that started with my eyes hurting. I finally found that eye ointments works and Genteal PM was the best.
Avatar f tn Ask your ophthalmologist if you have GPC (giant papillary conjunctivities) which is an allergy to contact lens wear that causes bumps under the eyelid. If so ask him/her about opticrom for treatment of GPC. Google and read about. More likely you have dry eyes. Probably why your contacts started bothering you and lasik can make dry eyes worse. Go to my website and scroll through the blog posts and read the updated article on dry eyes.
493068 tn?1224765315 My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I would suggest a trial of cyclosporin (Restasis) as it is much safer long term because of the steroid side effects of cataracts, glaucoma and cornea infection. Not in some cases it has lasted 30-40 years and is more commin in females. So you are probably asking for trouble continuing to wear contacts. You should place yourself under the care of an ophthalmologist Eye MD that specializes in cornea and external disease.
Avatar m tn Have been to ophthamologist and cornea specialist, had cornea topography, glaucoma, cataract, all sorts of workup but nothing positive, no diagnosis could me made. I also have rapid eyelid twiching, which I do not know is whether is part of the same disease or no. Initially ophthamologist told me my symptoms are from dry eyes, I have used, systane, refresh, restasis, steroids, dry eye multivitamins, fish oil, and now I have punctal plugs.
1357151 tn?1277306837 It all started 3 years back and since then i have visited lot of Opthalmologist. Had gone through multiple tests like glaucoma, dry eyes test. I tried using Artificial Tears ( Refresh Plus, systane, Refresh PM,Genteal etc.). also was prescribed Restasis. But nothing helped. I am still using artificial tears and wear computer glasses. I am a software professional,so my job requires me to sit infront of computer screen. I cant even explain how much worried I am now.
Avatar n tn However, he discovered that since my exam in August I had already become more myopic and he said I had a thin tear film and diagnosed me with k sicca not from sjrogrens. I did a round of steroid eye drops and then I have been on restasis. He admitted the spots were weird and theorized they may be dry spots, but he didn't know. Now I know it sounds weird when I say my eye color is changing, but I have always had VERY dark brown eyes...even with a flash on the camera.
Avatar f tn Inflammatory conjunctivitis describes a mechanism but not a cause. Chronic steroids are a bad deal for many reasons including cataract formation, glaucoma, reactiviation of your Herpes and bacterial or fungal infections. I suspect your contact lens where will greatly make your eyes more red and irritated. I suggest you get an independent second opinion from a different cornea/external disease specialist.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have been on and off Doxycyline for over a year and about a week off of it the rosacea comes back worse than ever. I am using erthromycin ointment and Restasis. I use Travatan Z for the glaucoma. I do the lid scrubs religiously because I have chronic blephritis. What are we missing? Thanks you so much!
Avatar n tn I have used Restasis for a year now and, while it did start working well after I had used it for about four months, it stopped working about three months ago. The dry eye is terribly uncomfortable, makes my vision blurry, and causes eye pain, redness and bad discomfort in general, and OTC lubricating drops don't help. I have cataracts and holes in my retinas in both eyes.
1549643 tn?1495759353 Narrow or shallow anterior chamber angles can predispose the eye to narrow angle glaucoma, which can present with pain. I am not worried about the twitching of the lids, which is common and usually short-lived. Do not rub your eyes. If the exam determines that the eyes are dry, there are many remedies which you can discuss with the ophthalmologist: artificial tears (Optive, Systane, Blink), multivitamins and fish oil (Omega 3) supplements, Restasis, and others.
1755649 tn?1312478290 t work well at all. I have punctual plugs in both eyes, I used Restasis twice a day and my prescription for glasses changes continually. I am 66 years old, if that makes a difference, and I do not have glaucoma or diabetes but the doctor says my optic nerves are different in each eye, and they should be the same but they haven't changed since he found them. This is probably too much info. I really want to know what to do about the eyelid not opening.
Avatar f tn m not sure how you might get Restasis (cyclosporine) check out their website. www.restasis.com Restasis is the most widely prescribed eyedrop in the US. 90% are post menopausal females; 10% males and pre-menopausal females. Seems there should be some way to get the medication. a factor raised is the cost. The drops are non-preserved and you are dispensed two dropperettes to use each day. Everyone, myself and my wife also, use up one completely before opening another.
Avatar f tn Had cataract surgery 5 weeks ago on right eye . I have been a glaucoma suspect for years and within the last three onths my eye pressure began to steadily increase even with the drops being used twice a day. My opthmologist at the hospital eye clinic stated I needed to be seen bya specialist in glaucome immediately for possible removal of cataracts with drainage system for the pressure rising. I consutled physician he agreed that surgery neeed to be done done. ASAP.
Avatar f tn eyesight, I have never heard that the growth of cataracts necessarily means blindness. The second condition oral steroids can cause is glaucoma, which leads to destruction of the optic nerve and in fact, if untreated, can make you blind. What is the "white spot" problem? A virus? I haven't been able to find anything on the Internet.
Avatar m tn The IOP in an eye post RK is not reliable and to determine if you have glaucoma in the eye you need visual field test, optic nerve photos, corneal thickness, gonioscopy and OCT of nerve fiber layer. your increase IOL could be due to the steroids you were on. If you IOP was elevated still then I would do a glaucoma work up.
Avatar f tn I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar f tn I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
Avatar m tn Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
Avatar m tn The companies that could pursue this may well be those who offer very expensive eye drops for glaucoma, for dry eye (eg, Restasis), and for macular edema. But thus far, I've seen nothing being considered. The medical community has to start making noise about this problem, louder than they have to help us sufferers. It is not simply 'coping', nor is it something 'the brain will eventually overlook'.
Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
