Common Questions and Answers about Restasis doctor hot

restasis

Avatar f tn Hello, I suffer from dry eyes and I have read that a hot compress on the eye lids can help ,so I have been soaking cotton wool in hot water , rinsing them then placing them onto my closed eyelids and gentley massaging them ,I was wondering if the heat can have an ill effect on the pigments (melanin) in the iris causing a hyperpigmentation (darkening of the iris color)?
Avatar f tn Is that cause it was a bit too hot???? I thought you were suppose to put it as hot as you could stand it, cause it felt hot, but not to where it burned me or bothered me. Any info of help would be great...........
Avatar f tn discuss your concerns with the doctor that ordered the restasis and tell her/him about the new floaters.
Avatar f tn I have not seen this in my Restasis patients. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn I use Restasis before plugs. Restasis increases quality of tears and reduces inflammation. Plugs best put in by ophthalmologist Eye MD.
Avatar n tn Its simple to put these in and give them a try. They would be less likely to help a watery eye than a "bone dry" eye. You should be on Restasis and that would be more likely to help than anything. Also consider fish oil enteric coated high quality manufactuer (example Cardiotabs ) 3/day or one of the oral over the counter pills specific for dry eyes. TheraTears Dry eye oral formulation.
Avatar m tn My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
Avatar f tn Just a goof. Cannot get ahold of my doctor and info about this on the web says - Call Your Doctor! So.....two hours later - what do I do - not do? Thank you.
Avatar n tn m more aware of my left eye. On days which gets hot, the problem gets worst. when I sleep it makes my left eye feel more comfortable. Is this anything I can fix or doe I have to live with it forever? since its a constant thing its making me go crazy.
429949 tn?1224691579 My opthalmologist has just put me on Restasis eye drops. Does anyone have any experience with these drops or have had any bad side effects from using them? I know what the information on the prescribing list says, but I trust someone who has actually taken them more than what that insert inside the box says! Any info would help!
Avatar f tn I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar m tn Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
Avatar f tn On my patients I use tear duct plugs only AFTER a 4-6 month trial of ReStasis. ReStasis is a revolutionary eyedrop that has changed the treatment of dry eyes world wide for the better. In the USA it is the second most widely prescribed medication. My wife and many of our friends are on restasis. Also recent studies indicate that 2 or 3 Omega 3 (enteric coated fish oil) greatlyhelp dry eyes. Takes 3-4 months to kick in.
Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
Avatar n tn I prescribe Restasis and I use Restasis. I am not familiar with a blue vial holder. I Googled the term and nothing comes up so I don't know anything about it.
Avatar n tn Thank you very much for your response. I have use Steralid, after while it caused eye irritation. Fish oil made me sick to my stomach. I did ask my eye doctor for antibiotics and his nurse told me he declined that and also restasis. The only two left are the minocycline or deoxycycline and the restasis. So, should I beg the guy, I went to high school with him 30 years ago.
Avatar n tn 1.Restasis does work with eye plugs; it takes however 4-6 months to "kick in" 2. Use the search feature and archives and read about dry eyes. 3. Go to Dr. hagan's blog and read the article about dry eyes.
Avatar m tn I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
Avatar n tn I found this doctor myself. My doctor did say I could try the Restasis on the outside chance it may help or he would send me to see a woman doctor whom he claims also puts in a lot of these multifocal lenses. I still have faith in my doctor (he's pretty convincing) and I think he did a good job. He claims I've healed well, the lens is perfectly centered, etc.
Avatar f tn I have a small blur in the left eye. I had my surgery with a doctor who does not take insurance. As a result, I have had to see someone else for care. At the 2nd doctors office I had tests and there is a small amount of opacification healing film in the back of my eye. This could be the blur although the doctor thinks its possible he uncertain as it is tiny. I am also using Restasis which has given me great relief from dry eye.
Avatar f tn My eye doctor just Rx'd Lotemax (4 weeks) & Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab.
Avatar m tn I have been using the restasis for about 3 months and have not really noticed a difference. My right eye is worse that the left. The doctor plugged the lower lid, however I cannot tell much of a difference. The irritation is coming from the upper lid. I look in my right eye and can see tears along the lower portion. If I plug the upper lid and unplug the lower would that help? Also based on the Schirmers score would this be considered mild/moderate or servere dry eye?
427279 tn?1210919821 but eyes have changed first time in years ...and he said i had extremely dry eyes....wants me to take restasis but kept saying "you may not think it's working for you but it will be just keep using it...hmmmmmm....so anyway all is good just so tired dont want to move...
Avatar m tn s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
612876 tn?1355514495 I know we've discussed the dry eye quandary before, but I was hoping we could revisit it because I don't recall the subject of punctal plugs ever coming up before. (And we all know my powers of recollection are top-notch ... sarcasm, sarcasm.
Avatar n tn ve had a dry eye test done and I have been on restasis since I was 23 years old. I also have permanent punctal plugs in my eyes. I have been suffering from this problem since I was 19 years old. I also switched to wearing glasses and no contacts. I'm worried that this is a sign of something more severe. I also have some dry mouth problems and I also feel dehydrated a lot.
Avatar m tn I had cataract surgery 5 days ago and wan't to restart my Restasis. Can using it negatively effect the healing?
