Restasis and systane

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis and systane

restasis

Avatar f tn I think I once posted about my opthamologist telling me to avoid any drops that say they get the red out. He told me to look for those labelled "artificial tears". He gave me samples of "Blink" and "Systane" and another one that had no preservatives and thus came in little single-use packets. He said he liked Systane best, but any were okay if they were artificial tears. I couldn't find much difference between them.
Avatar f tn He said they have a 2 year window before there is permanent scarring to the muscles and we on on 15 months. He took her off the Restasis and she is currently on the Systane during the day and Systane gel at night. I think I will try the GenTeal as the gel doesn't seem to help.. I'm just so concerned because she is so young. Thanks for the title of the book, I have read so many books but I don't recall this one. I will have to read it....
Avatar f tn (You may have to be placed on eye drops for the duration of treatment. Several of us are on eye drops and will stay on them until treatment ends. I am on Restasis and Systane. Restasis is prescription.
1819252 tn?1317092002 I have both Restasis and Systane. Systane is over the counter and you can get it in any pharmacy. Restasis is prescription and it would be prescribed only if you had your eyes examined by an eye doctor and your eyes were inflamed.
Avatar f tn I currently use refresh gel drops, systane artificial tear drops and some natural stuff. A long with my fish oil pills. What are other supplements I can use to improve my dry eyes? I want to avoid prescribed restasis at all cost :) please some advice?
Avatar f tn He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open. ( looks like a lazy eye) never had it before. He says my inplants look great. yesterday i saw him my right eye had raised pressure to 26.5 he took me off the steroid drops left me on the timolol -glaucoma drops.
Avatar f tn sort_by=date Both my wife and I have moderately severe dry eyes. Both of us are on restasis with complete success. She for 6-7 years and me for one and a half year. IT WILL TAKE 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEE THE FULL BENEFITS OF RESTASIS SO DON'T STOP THEM. Restasis eye drops does not cause cancer if it did neither my wife or I would be taking them. I personally would not have plugs put in. they fall out, they can scratch the eye. If you're not on Omega 3 I would start them.
Avatar n tn Gritty, burning, painful. Dr used the plug. Have tried systane, refresh, with ointment at night and restasis. Warm cloths. Can you help?
Avatar f tn I know how you fell. I had itchy dry eyes for months on triple. I started out using Systane Balance which was very soothing. Towards the end of treatment I had to go to the prescription Restasis. I'm finished with treatment and happy to say my eyes are back to normal. Good luck!
Avatar f tn L eye wash with Boric acid occasionally which really helps and use Systane refresh or balance with great experience and occasionally use the Systane gel at night which is also nice, but occasionally wake up with puffy eyes. They go away fairly quickly and are far better than the dry eyes. I will read through the other posts. Out of curiosity, can you give me a quick primer on why the puncta enlarge (with or without pain/itchy/irritation)?
Avatar m tn Initially ophthamologist told me my symptoms are from dry eyes, I have used, systane, refresh, restasis, steroids, dry eye multivitamins, fish oil, and now I have punctal plugs. I have tried antiglare coating for glasses, nothing takes the glare, starburst and halos away. Symtpoms are worse at night. I never had any kind of eye surgery done, used to wear contacts, but discontinued contacts 6-7 years ago. I do not know if any one has any clue, regarding what could be the potential diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Because the problem is so prevalent the pharmaceutical compies are coming out with new products all the time. Some of the newest are Systane preserved and unpreserved drops and Optive drops. Eye drops for dryness are classified as preserved drops (individual vials that must be used within 24 hrs), preserved drops, gels and ointments. The preserved drops are more expensive and usually only help the small percentage of people that are really allergic to preservatives.
Avatar n tn For aqueous deficincy you can try artificial tears like hypotears and standard dry eye treatment or if nothing works restasis. It is unlikely you have ocular candidiasis.
Avatar m tn I have dry eyes, all year round but I use Systane and ALERGAN optive eye drops and it works fine but only for dryness! 10.Problem becomes worse and worse every year, it is the 8th year already 11.Eyelid skin burning 12. During that months, My eyes scratches all the time, but if i scratch, it will irritate the lid of my eyes immediately and everything will become worse. What I did. 1.Checked for general allergies around 30 allergies, i have no allergies from the ones i have checked.

1357151 tn?1277306837 also was prescribed Restasis. But nothing helped. I am still using artificial tears and wear computer glasses. I am a software professional,so my job requires me to sit infront of computer screen. I cant even explain how much worried I am now. this problem has severly affected my life. I can't do anything after going home, I avoid driving, I can't play with my kids etc. Infact I have now thinking of changing my career.
Avatar m tn I HAVE PLUGS IN BOTH LOWER DUCTS. I NOTICE HOWEVER WHEN I USED DROPS(RESTASIS, SYSTANE ETC) THAT THE LIQUID STAYS IN ONE EYE MUCH LONGER THAN THE OTHER. THE EYE THAT HOLDS THE LIQUID LONGER HAS A SMART PLUG. THE OTHER EYE IS A DIFFERENT PLUG(SORRY I CANNOT REMEMBER THE TYPE). WHEN A TEAR DUCT IS PLUGGED CORRECTLY DOES IT COMPLETELY ELIMINATE TEARS FROM DRAINING IN THAT DUCT. THE UPPER DUCTS ARE NOT PLUGGED BUT I STILL THINK IT IS STRANGE. THANKS.
Avatar n tn said it was strain from studying for my MBA and should go away on its own. He took eye tests and put me on restasis. The redness went away but the prominent vessel stayed. It's still there to this day & the eye dr. now says it will be there forever since it's there so long. About 2 mo. ago, my eyes started getting red on the whites and my mom said that my lower eye lid (where women put eyeliner--i don't use eye makeup) also looked red--didn't hurt or itch just red.
Avatar m tn I have discussed restasis eye drops with my optometrist and he told me that it wasn't a good idea. He also told me that he sees no signs of blepharitis and that it's probably allergies and gave me Opticrom to use (which were unsuccessful and stung my eyes and made them redder temporary -- as the side effect). He also said that the tear film over my eyes is very thin.
939968 tn?1294948736 So I lead the kind of lifestyle that I would lead if I had no cronic liver disease. I have a cocktail and some wine every night, and it relaxes me and makes me forget about the stupid Hep C.
Avatar f tn Now that it is winter I am also using Systane eye drops in between the Restasis drops. (Restasis in am, Systane in the afternoon, Restasis again at bedtime. I have had no further problems with the dry itchy eyes.
Avatar n tn Discuss with your eye MD going on restasis and startinng enteric coated fish oil 1/day with evening meal and over three weeks build up to 2 or 3 per day.
1549643 tn?1495759353 artificial tears (Optive, Systane, Blink), multivitamins and fish oil (Omega 3) supplements, Restasis, and others.
Avatar f tn You can use preserative free artificial tears (like refresh celluvisc or systane) about every hour and take oral flaxseed oil and omega 3 fish oil supplements by mouth. Punctum plugs can be helpful as well. Restasis can take several months to help and will give no immediate help. Nasonex can help sinus allergies but I'm not sure how that will help your dry eyes.
Avatar n tn I have dry eyes and so far Doctor's can't help me. I have been on restasis and it is not helping. Will I go blind...
Avatar f tn Restasis twice a day, ointment at night, I've ordered TranquileEyes to use at bedtime, and I use TheraTears single use containers when needed. I thought about using the Dwelle drops before bedtime instead of an ointment. I do warm compresses daily also. The flourescent lights at work really bother me by 1:00pm every day. I'm not sure how I can avoid this. Do you think the Restasis is a good eyedrop to help with dry eye? I know you've said it takes 2-3 months to see results.
Avatar m tn Read it. This is on ongoing problem, gets worse with time, requires daily treatment and you may need Restasis somewhere down the line.
Avatar m tn I am hoping to narrow down the possibilities because I have spent a decent amount of money and have not been able to get the proper answer to solve the problem. The red eyes has lasted for a month or so, my eyes are white through out the day but red/pink when I wake up.
