Restasis and lotemax

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis and lotemax

restasis

184420 tn?1326739808 I went to my eye doctor and he put me on Lotemax and Restasis drops and they have helped immensely. He said he is going to keep me on the Restasis for the entire time I am on treatment. Personally I would see an eye doctor for this problem. An eye doctor can examine your eyes to be sure there is nothing else gouing on with them. The drugs can cause some eye problems so, in my opinion, it is best to get to the bottom of any symptoms .
Avatar f tn sort_by=date Both my wife and I have moderately severe dry eyes. Both of us are on restasis with complete success. She for 6-7 years and me for one and a half year. IT WILL TAKE 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEE THE FULL BENEFITS OF RESTASIS SO DON'T STOP THEM. Restasis eye drops does not cause cancer if it did neither my wife or I would be taking them. I personally would not have plugs put in. they fall out, they can scratch the eye. If you're not on Omega 3 I would start them.
Avatar m tn I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective. Read about it on their website and see an Eye MD that specializes in cornea diseases and discuss.
Avatar f tn My eye doctor just Rx'd Lotemax (4 weeks) & Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab.
Avatar f tn After 2 steroid drops, Sooth XP, Freshtears gel at night, and now finally Restasis and Lotemax, I see no improvment. I have been taking the Restasis for 5 months now. If it was going to work, would it have worked by now? I show no signs of improvment. After spending lots of money that is hard for me to come up with, I am at my wits end. Any other suggestions?
Avatar m tn I went to my eye doctors office as a work in and diagnosed with concretions and dry eye. This doctor prescribed Lotemax, Restasis and told me I had chronic inflammation. He didn't check my pressure for glaucoma I didn't realize it until I went for my 6 week follow up and my pressure was 25 last year it was 14 and 16 and field tests looked good. So I may have drug induced glaucoma due to my family having it.
Avatar n tn After taking restasis for over a year and my dry eyes was not getting better the Dr. gave me lotemax but said only use that. Now after using it for 2 months only, he said I shouldn't have stopped the restasis. Now I am really annoyed.....have I lost what improvement I may have gained with the restasis having stopped it for two months? Should I be seeing a opthomologist rather than a Dr. of Optometry???
Avatar f tn I have said this before on this forum but my wife has been on restasis for about 4 years and it has made a world of difference in her tears dysfunction syndrome (formerly dry eyes). I have no experience with the resection, none of my SLK patients have been that severe.
Avatar n tn They then put 4 silcon plugs (upper and lower both eyes) and started me on lotemax drops twice daily, lotemax ointment at bedtime , xiidra twice daily and oasis tears four times a day and as needed. Am i on the right path? My eyes still burn when I use the computer and my left eye (has residual myopia) is constantly heavy, I feel like I need to close it or squeeze it shut really hard.
Avatar n tn I have had severe dry eye and blepharospasms since June 2008. I have been on Lotemax & Restasis for at least 6 mos. After I lubricate my eyes, why do they close? I need to work and how much longer until the blepharospasms go away? I have been to many doctors and stopped all medications I was taking over 2 mos. ago. The blepharitis is mild now.
Avatar n tn i went to see a corneal specialist 12 days after the onset. i had th virus in both eyes. the docto prescribed lotemax- to be tapered as well as restasis. my questions are as follows: 1) how long do i need to be on the steroids before my vision begins to improve? 2) by taking the steroids- did i increase the time i am contageous for? if so for how long? 3) what is the point of the steroid taper? 4) what is the likelyhood that after roughly six weeks on the steroids i will be healed?
Avatar f tn I tried OTC preservative free drops, lotemax, restasis, omega 3 fish oil, and am drinking a lot of water. My remedies are helping but this condition is awful and I'm not sure if I'm doing enough to reduce the symptoms. Is there anything else I can try to help my condition? I know that my pink eye had something to do with my tear production so I was hoping someone else had a similar experience and had a successful remedy to deal with this.
Avatar n tn He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
Avatar n tn t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
Avatar n tn m sure its not from dryness. I went to the doctor and he said he would like to try Alrex and Restasis on me, but its very expensive and I'm afraid it won't work like Lotemax didn't 1 year has passed from the time I had GPC and it doesn't seem to have got any better. sometimes my left eyelid swells to a point that I can't look up. Is this a permanent thing now? What should I do about it?
Avatar m tn I put a punctual plug 2 days ago and it seems doesn't help. The only difference is I when I put a artificial drop, the staying time of the drop increase from 10 min to 20 min. I ordered the Restasis on line but it will not come in 2 weeks plus the kick in time will be at least 1 month. Can the topical corticosteroids like Lotemax be used to treat irritation caused by dry eye ? Is it safe to just use it for a temporary like 2 weeks.
493068 tn?1224765315 of Doxycycline, Erythromycin Ointment at night and during days of extreme pain. I also use Travatan and use Restasis. and yesterday the opthamologist doctor put me on Lotemax. I can see some better today but still have full blown rosacea in both eyes...To live with pain in your eyes you can not escape it. Do you know of anything we are missing? Thnaks again!
Avatar f tn Forget the castor oil and use standard artifical tears, gels and ointments. IF really bad use Restasis.
Avatar f tn t help, so next she perscribed Lotemax along with the Soothe XP. Still no help, so now I am on Restasis, Lotemax, and SootheXP. Along with this I have to apply cold compresses , & bought an extra humidifier for my bedroom. It's getting to the point of impacting my jb, which is driving as a Courier 8 hrs a day. Will this go away as quickly as it came on? One day I was fine, the next day I had to let someone else drive, as my eyes were watering and so painful I couldn't keep them open.
Avatar n tn "Lotemax is the only steroid that can be prescribed for long term therapy" This statement by PDophthalmology is incorrect. Any steroid drop can be prescribed for long term use. The question is should they be and if they are needed what is the best choice. First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important.
Avatar n tn While there discuss with him/her going on long term restasis and using a topical steroid such as lotemax for the first couple of weeks to reduce the stinging you likely will have. The use of restasis for long term eye for surface eye inflammation is a very promising new use. Another very promiscing drug that might benefit you is Azasite which is an eyedrop that has emerged as the favorite for resistant and chronic blepharitis.
Avatar m tn she said I probably dont have rosacea (The second opto said this as well) **She prescribed restasis and Lotemax**. She said the Lotemax will jumpstart the restasis and hopefully i could maybe have my symptoms cleared up before two or thr emonths for the possibility of surgery. She said that I should come back in 6 weeks unless there is a problem. I want to get this cleared up, surgery or not. if its not degressing then i dont need it ***My question - I am a little worried.
Avatar m tn My doctor told me to go off of durezol and onto Lotemax 2x a day. He also took a look at my retinas and overall eye health and said the increased pressure didn't cause any obvious signs of any major side effects. Before surgery, I tried all that (restasis for 1 year, xiidra for 4 months, Toyos IPL, lipiflow, gland probing and expressions from Maskin, supplements, dieting, lifestyle changes, doxy, PRP serum, etc).
Avatar f tn 2%, Tobradex Ointment 3ml, Ciprofloxacin 3.5, .3% GenTeal lubricant eyedrops and Lotemax .5mg using twice a day. I have taken and I am still using most of these meds as directed. The ophthalmologist tells me that my tear ducks are blocked and that I have dry eyes. My quality of life is almost non-existence because I can not hold my eyes open. I have to keep them closed of day because they burn and hurt almost to the point I can not tolerate it.
917763 tn?1311628896 Eye Dr said not to use fan and gave me Lotemax for short term use (I use it occasionally but not too often because of rebound effect it can cause). He also gave me Restasis eye drops but I decided not to use them because they work thru immune system and I am on week 49 of 72. Didn't want to chance it. May try them post tx though. Dr also said contacts only on occasion. He said being a woman and long term contact use is the culprit. Tx just makes it worse.
429949 tn?1224691579 My doctor prescribed Lotemax drops to be used the first two weeks of starting Restasis treatment. He said it makes the eyes a little less sensitive and increases compliance with the Restasis treatment. I will have to wait until my three month follow up to see if the damage to my eyes have healed. On a previous thread I read that you might have Shrojen's Syndrome. I haven't followed your story, what are your symptoms? I have just recently started researching this for myself.
Avatar f tn As the foreign body pain increases so goes the tightening to the point both lids are drawn together. Happens a few times a day to where it is interfering with my professional life. Restasis, Lotemax, AcuVail, lubricants..... Nothing changes the outcome. This has been going on for years and ophthalmologist shrugs and doesn't know what to do. I have caught this 'eye fit' on video several times. Anyone else have this problem?
Avatar f tn My eyes were still getting red and irritated and so he gave me a prescription for Lotemax, to be used twice a day. That helped for a while, but my eyes were still getting irritated. Then, almost a year ago, my right eye started drooping. It was sudden; one morning, I woke up and it was "droopy". I have a few medical issues that may be complicating factors.
