620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Dog Hi, I take Ropinirole (Requip), and this mefication over the years has worked really well. But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Avatar f tn There are certain concerns for people with parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome taking ropinirole. Requip causes sedation, fainting, light headedness, dizziness particularly in patients with heart disease. hallucinations is reported but in people with parkinson’s taking requip, rarely in people taking it for restless leg syndrome like your dad and more commonly in elderly taking requip in combination with levodopa.
230948 tn?1235844329 I have heard the side effects to these drugs are not nice but can make a difference to your life, i just talked to another lady under the same consultant and she has been on this drug and she is struggling with the side effects but it has changed her life around and she has fibro. The drug she was on was called pramipexole but there are many but do the same thing mirapexin, ropinirole (requip) which is what you were on.
Avatar f tn Hi, Not sure about everyone else but I know that for me the restless legs is one of the worst symptoms. I told my doctor that I was struggling and he prescribed me Ropinirole tablets, one to take before bedtime. I took one last night and, fingers crossed, it seemed to work. Most of you are probably aware of this but for those who aren't, it might be worth a try.
487070 tn?1313665952 I hate the side effects but it seems to be working for the most part. I understand it is mainly used for Parkinson's diasease and sometimes RLS. Does anyone take this for their RLS? If so how much? Supossedly it helps increase Dopmine levels which PLMD and Parkinson disorders have in common.I'm not sure if RLS is caused by low Dopamine or not. I feel like YUCK. I have had a dry, horse throat all winter & I think it may be a side effect.
Avatar f tn He determined this to be rare side effects from Requip. Took me off straightaway. I hated that because it worked so well, but side effects were intolerable. This as of April 28th. Was started on Sinemet. Was told this does not work as well as Requip, but was less likely to have same side effects. Said he could add darvocet if necesary. Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since the brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made above symptoms worse.
Avatar f tn Have had rls once or twice a month for ten years. Then bam, it's full blown, unreal, can't do this, rls. I don't need to tell you all how it feels... But discribeing it to a small town doctor feels like I'm talking to a book. Short story, I moved to Idaho from California. Seeking the small town, farm, slow pace and American dream of life. Digging in deep with enjoying the mild winter and active from dawn to dusk.
230948 tn?1235844329 Patients should be informed about very rare cases of sudden onset of sleep without any prior warning or apparent daytime somnolence and of dizziness (including vertigo) and should be cautioned that their safety and that of others is at risk if this happens whilst driving or operating dangerous machinery.
689327 tn?1240229164 Hi I take ropinirole, see my other note. It makes me feel sick half an hour after taking it and I can only take up to 2mgs otherwise feel too bad. It helps - doesn't cure.

Avatar m tn ) are not very helpful and many medications actually cause RLS. Ropinirole (Requip, Ropark, Adartrel) -- Rx only -- has been approved in the last couple of years for treatment, and I have personally found it effective. There is a good detailed article in Wikipedia on RLS.
Avatar f tn I looked online and found out that Tramadol ( a generic for Ultram 50) will help it and it has no side effects. I told my doctor and he prescribed it for me and it works wonders! I take it about 2-3 hours before I go to bed. I have restless leg real bad. I used to control it with a glass ofmilk and a banana every night but it progressed beyond that. Try it!
Avatar n tn A couple of years ago I was taking requip and after awhile I started having symptoms just like yours. After doing some research on this drug I found out that it can actually make your symptoms worse. My doctor put me on Ultram and it really helps with the RLS and my lower leg pain. Please talk to your doctor. These symptoms you are having are not right.
Avatar f tn So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night. I had some psychosis and was up all night long, but laying and I had the shakes at first but I'm actually proud I made it through the night without popping that pill. Took my medicine this morning and slept for about 5 hours and no psychosis, hallucinations or anything.
649926 tn?1297657780 Shell, I read that long list they give you with your rx and it did list muscle/tendon pain as a possible side effect under the less often but can happen section. I never get the "normal" side effects so it probably is from the equip. I really do choose sleep - like you said everything declines without it but I am going to call the neuro tomorrow and let them know and see what they say.
Avatar f tn Take a look at a drug called Requip (Ropinirole) It might help.
Avatar n tn Not a good idea at all with all of those medications almost anything could happen, including blackouts, fainting, etc.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar n tn This seems like an odd question, but since I am affected by this, here goes. My RLS is in high gear about 4 days before and 4 days after the full moon. I had been on Requip for about 2 years and although it was helpful, those 8 days the medication did not seem to help. My health care company decided that Requip is no longer a formulary drug,so I have switched to benztropine.
Avatar f tn It is a parkinsons med, but at the amount that is taken for RLS I have had no side effects at all. They take 36 a day for parkinson's and I have to take anywhere from 3-8 a day depending on how severe.
