I need help with restless legs, i don't want to be on drugs. Calcium, magnesium, smells, lotions have done nothing
I am on half a milligram of clonozapam which is a small dose but its wearing off
Odds are i will have tried anything mentioned but ive asked over 40 forums with no answers.
our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
hi and welcome, your husband is doing well ,after being on the meds after so long, hot baths with epsom salts in will help his restless legs, also eating bananas, and drinking tonic water, its the potassium and quinine in them that helps, you can get some hylands restful legs remedy from walgreen/walmart, also make sure he drinks plenty of fluids such as gatorade, or juices, take care and god bless.
This is a measure of body iron stores-not just your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is what doctors test for when they suspect anemia. If it's below 30, supplement with iron for two months I like Solgar's Gentle Iron or a tonic from Germany called Floradix Herbs Plus Iron (although this one is pricier) -then check levels again in two months. Fixing the iron deficiency will often calm the restless legs.

Thanks for writing in. Restless leg syndrome is a common cause of painful legs. Restless leg syndrome also features worsening of symptoms during the early evening or later at night. The characteristic nighttime worsening of symptoms in persons with restless legs syndrome frequency leads to insomnia.
The cause of restless leg syndrome is unknown in most patients.
In response to others questions about RLS. I have had extreme pain and burning in my legs for years, but only when I try to sleep or recline. I don't get the jerking sensation as some do, but I do move constantly for relief. I've have various inaccurate diagnosis. My vascular dr. did an ultrasound and then did an EVLT procedure. This was wasted time and money as it did not help. Finally, just diagnosed with RLS.
Hi, Not sure about everyone else but I know that for me the restless legs is one of the worst symptoms. I told my doctor that I was struggling and he prescribed me Ropinirole tablets, one to take before bedtime. I took one last night and, fingers crossed, it seemed to work. Most of you are probably aware of this but for those who aren't, it might be worth a try.
Has anyone tried Requip for Restless Legs while trying to detox off of Subutex or Suboxone? This is the worst part for me in trying to get off of Subutex & I am literally scared sh**less of them. I had them so bad that I almost over-dosed on Klonopin & Somas (from a family member) to rid myself of them. I am on less than 1 mg of Subutex a day now & having anxiety & diarrhea. That I can handle, but the RLS I can not. Any advice or experience would be great!
There is no forum for this, Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), so I figured this was probably the best place to post this question. I have had RLS for about 2 years, and it has gotten progressively worse. I take 1mg of Requip in the morning, and NOW (I just started) I take 1 mg. in the afternoon, and 2mg. at night.
OHHH i had thee worst restless legs. I kept kicking things, and shaking my legs all day long and even at night I felt like i had to keep tossing and turning. My doctor gave me xanax to help that. I have had to stop taking it and my legs are at it again but its not as bad since coming off of opiates. It will take a couple months, maybe a few but it will lessen as time goes on. :) Be careful with the valium.
Have had Restless Syndrome for 25+ years. Had hyperactive thyroid nodules and this summer had RAI treatment to shut down the nodule. Recent blood test shows that my actual thyroid is also starting to shut down and my risk of being hypothyroid is very high. I read that Hypothyroid disease can cause Restless Leg Syndrome. Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried.
If you go CT from hydro 10/325 & 7.5, 10-15 a day, does it take longer for the restless legs & arms to stop, also the insomnia. This is what caused me to start taking them again, I could not handle, was scared I would have a heart attack from no sleep and the constant restless legs and arms!!! Please pray for me and my family. thank you.
