Avatar n tn hello there, I have had RLS for 5 years now, 2 years ago I sprained my neck and was given Tramadol,it helped my neck but also took away that nasty sensation in my legs my doc has kept me on it since. I had tried everything and this is the only thing that worked for me besides warm baths, good luck to your daughter.
Avatar f tn Hi, Not sure about everyone else but I know that for me the restless legs is one of the worst symptoms. I told my doctor that I was struggling and he prescribed me Ropinirole tablets, one to take before bedtime. I took one last night and, fingers crossed, it seemed to work. Most of you are probably aware of this but for those who aren't, it might be worth a try.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from a form of restless leg for over 20 years, when my brain wants to relax especially at bed time, my leg muscles in top & bottom start to go into spasm, causing my legs to kick out. Its so sever that if prevents me from falling asleep. I am on tablets called Ropinerol they work to a point but the older I get the worse the spasms get.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar f tn I was dx with RLS after feeling like my legs had a mind of their own....ropinirole 2x a day.
Avatar m tn I am a 39 year old male that has suffered for years with restless legs, leg/joint pain, both of which have caused many sleepless nights. The pain is more noticeable during weather changes (doesn't matter if its warm to cold or cold to warm). My legs twitch almost constantly and is very noticeable especially when sleeping, I have been told i have had my legs have spasmed to my chest. I have also had multiple arthroscopic knee surgeries due to a parachuting accident when i was younger.
Avatar f tn I found this forum by mistake whilst having an annoying reaction to my pain medication for my lower back. I'm 26 and have had lower back issues since I was 7. It's only in the past 6-8 years that I've been properly medicated and only found out in the last two years that I have a protruding disc. I have had a lot of pain medication but tramadol works for me MOST of the time.
Avatar f tn The leg pain of RLS typically eases with movement of the legs and becomes more evident at rest. Therefore, medicine dosage is usually prescribed before going to bed. Though there is no permanent cure of RLS, it is advisable that you take regular & sound sleep to get relief from your symptoms. Supplements of iron/vitamin deficiency certainly help in elderly patients with RLS to ease out symptoms.
689327 tn?1240229164 I take Celebrex, Cymbalta, and Lyrica for these conditions...also Baclofen (muscle relaxant) for other spinal injuries. Am fused L-3 to S-1. Last night (early this morning), my husband reminded me that compression hose helps, so I put one on....did help enough to get some sleep. I am now wondering if it might be RLS. Guess I will try a rheumatologist again, and see what they say. It does help to read other tales....maybe I am not really crazy.
7126533 tn?1388405470 Ropinirole, once I was put on it in 2007, was a Godsend and just about covers it as long as I don't miss a dose (currently 4 x daily starting at 10am) My consultant has now suggested trying Slow Mag (Slow release magnesium) in hopes that I can reduce the number of Ropinirole I have to take to be able to function normally.
Avatar f tn Have had Restless Syndrome for 25+ years. Had hyperactive thyroid nodules and this summer had RAI treatment to shut down the nodule. Recent blood test shows that my actual thyroid is also starting to shut down and my risk of being hypothyroid is very high. I read that Hypothyroid disease can cause Restless Leg Syndrome. Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried.
1004161 tn?1252481849 Unpleasant sensations in the legs, uncontrollable urge to move them for relief, sensations as burning, creeping, tugging, or like insects crawling inside the legs. The sensations range in severity from uncomfortable to irritating to painful. RLS is generally a lifelong condition for which there is no cure. Symptoms may gradually worsen with age. Regular follow up with a neurologist is required.
Avatar f tn I take carbidopa /levo ER when my restless legs kick in and it has not failed me yet. I get it almost daily. It is a parkinson's med, but I only take 3-6 a day when it gets bad and those with parkinson's take 36 a day. So the warnings are for those larger amounts. The non generic name is sinemet cr.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar m tn In my personal experience, muscle relaxants are not very effective for acute leg cramps or rls -- they are much more effective for sustained muscle tension, spasm and limitation of movement. It depnds on the cause of the leg cramps, but most often mineral supplements are the most effective - calcium, magnesium and potassium. A banana (potassium source) at bedtime can work wonders! RLS (restless leg syndrome) is a different matter.
717440 tn?1292743742 Does anyone know how to deal with the restless legs syndrome part of the withdrawals? My boyfriend says it's the only thing stopping him from quitting oxy's on his own... we can't find subotex here :( He was prescribed clonodine before, but the 0.2mg dosage wasn't enough for him, even if he took a few. Has anyone been through this and can help? Please??

I take it about 2-3 hours before I go to bed. I have restless leg real bad. I used to control it with a glass ofmilk and a banana every night but it progressed beyond that. Try it!
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with a form of dysautonomia since 2006, with symptoms that are ringing in the ears, Raynaud's, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea, a sensation of choking at times, but most troubling a sensation of being drunk/ dizzy...I have had high blood pressure in the past which resolved on its own. Avatar m tn Naturally, I have been told that it is probably all in my imagination (NOT!!). I am on low doese of ropinirole for restless leg syndrome and lorazepam at bedtime to help me cope with the claustrophobia of a CPAP mask, and no other regular medication. I am 64 and female and overweight.
1154672 tn?1262222616 I have severe Restless leg Syndrome. I have been on Mirapex for about 6 years now, and never had a problem. I am unemployed now, and do not have any health insurance. My doctor has been great to give me samples, however; they are out of them right now. My doctor tried giving me clonazepam 1 mg 2 nights ago, I walked the floors and tossed and turned all night. I called my doctor, and she said to increase my clonazepam to 2mg before bed.
Avatar f tn Muscle relaxers might work but not for long. Hylands RLS worked wonders for me and for others but everyone is different. It's over the counter.
1591337 tn?1297101349 try my fetal stretch. I have been suffering with severe restless legs syndrome for 35 years. A month ago, I accidently found a method to eliminate the symptoms for approximatel 24 hours. I call it the fetal stretch and it has changed my life. When i feel the symptoms resuming, i simply lay on my side, get into a very tight fetal position, really stretching the back and legs, hold for 2 minutes, release, and symptoms disappear for about 24 hours.
Avatar n tn I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my second child and my restless legs are giving me a fit. Does anyone have this problem or any things I can try for relief? I'm at my wits end because it's affecting my sleep and my sanity! Thanks for any suggestions.
