requip

1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
Avatar f tn There are certain concerns for people with parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome taking ropinirole. Requip causes sedation, fainting, light headedness, dizziness particularly in patients with heart disease. hallucinations is reported but in people with parkinson’s taking requip, rarely in people taking it for restless leg syndrome like your dad and more commonly in elderly taking requip in combination with levodopa.
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
Avatar n tn I am not in the medical field, these suggestion are only from my personal experience. They are magnesium supplements, leg elevation, a sugarless diet, use of an inversion table and COLD WATER, COLD WATER, COLD WATER! Many times I hang my legs in the pool on cool nights or I fill the tub with cold water and sit in it. This calms me enough that I usually can fall asleep. Also, I notice, in my case, ibuprofen makes it worse. Today my primary gave me my first prescription for requip.
7091144 tn?1387989943 I have restless leg and tried all the different RL drugs (Requip etc...) and none worked. I was finally given a prescription drug to try called clonidine which is actually a blood pressure drug that has been around for a long time. NOTE it is CLONIDINE NOT klonipine. I later found out that this same drug is helpful when going through withdrawal. It is a prescription med but your GP or family doc might be willing to help you out by prescribing this. The dosage I take for my restless leg is .
Avatar f tn Have you had a sleep study and neurologist or a sleep specialist consultation? Are you able to sleep well these days and how about the restless leg movements? Are you still continuing requip? Go through this link for few updates on the RLS treatment: http://www.medicinenet.com/restless_leg_syndrome/page2.htm Do try to overcome your stress and keep yourself physically active. It is better to get the sleep study and a drug review by a sleep specialist. Keep updating on your progress. Take care.
Avatar f tn Have had Restless Syndrome for 25+ years. Had hyperactive thyroid nodules and this summer had RAI treatment to shut down the nodule. Recent blood test shows that my actual thyroid is also starting to shut down and my risk of being hypothyroid is very high. I read that Hypothyroid disease can cause Restless Leg Syndrome. Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried.
1542096 tn?1293162924 Hi, restless leg syndrome (RLS) can be treated by underlying illness, if known. For example, a search for iron deficiency by blood testing to reveal underlying iron deficiency anemia by supplying iron. Elimination of caffeine, smoking and alcohol can be very helpful. Getting better sleep and exercise can help some persons affected by restless legs. Drugs include carbidopa-levodopa, opioids , tramadol for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, and clonidine.
Avatar m tn Hello dear and welcome to the medhelp forum. Restless leg syndrome is seen in association with stress, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, caffeine use and if you have been withdrawn from sedatives. You must try massaging your legs, warm baths and gentle stretching exercises. There are medicines, which have been effective in controlling symptoms like requip. Take iron supplements if iron deficiency has been detected.
Avatar n tn You could ask your doc for Requip...it is used for restless leg syndrome. There are a few other meds that could possibly help...one of them being Neurontin. Talk to your doc about it....Other than that, I used a heating pad that wrapped around my legs for that wanting to move constantly feeling...it helped some...not alot, but some. Valium will not help for this.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?
Avatar f tn There is no forum for this, Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), so I figured this was probably the best place to post this question. I have had RLS for about 2 years, and it has gotten progressively worse. I take 1mg of Requip in the morning, and NOW (I just started) I take 1 mg. in the afternoon, and 2mg. at night.
691935 tn?1421027090 Requip is the answer for RLS.
Avatar m tn I hope this helps a little. Put on some sweat pants and a big jacket and go walk and sweat it out!!! Good Luck!
Cat I developed what I think is restless leg syndrome 3 months after knee replacement surgery. In talking to a friend today, I found that she has had the same issues and she is taking the same antidepressant, citalopram. Has anyone ever heard of this drug causing these symptoms? I have been on citalopram for several years, and have not had many side effects until now. The symptoms are bad enough to interrupt my sleep.
Avatar f tn Hi. Could be a simple vitamin deficiency or Restless Leg Syndrome, Neurapathy, Spinal Issues. You should have this checked out. Best wishes.
230948 tn?1235844329 I am on Requip for Restless Leg Syndrome, which I learned alot of Fibro sufferers have, and I love it! It also helps tremendously with my terrible foot pain I have in the day. I can't do without it! This is one of the few meds I haven't had any adverse effects from either. Hope that helps!
1591337 tn?1297101349 Well, this sounds alot like restless leg syndrome, and they have other meds for this like Requip, ask your MD about this and if your symptoms sound like you have this and you can start to sleep better! Good Luck!
689327 tn?1240229164 Does anyone have restless leg syndrome and if so what do doctors recommend to take so you can sleep? No matter what position I am in it hurts which it makes it hard for me to sleep I am so tired so any ideas would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your kind words and the restless leg is still ongoing, i had blood taken from me the other day and i get my results on Monday so hopefully the doc can sort my problem out.
620048 tn?1358018235 Most of the time they tell you to take it at night before bedtime for restless leg syndrome but since I have the same problem you do I was told 2x daily. The only side effect I have noticed is nausea but that hasn't happened in a while, though it was a problem when I 1st started it ( I took a dramamine about 3omin before & that helped too). I hope this helps!! God bless you!!
Avatar m tn I also get twitching in my legs, most of the time when I try to lie down at night, I have L2/3, L3/4 abd L4/5 herniated among other things. My doctor is treated me for restless leg syndrome with Klonipin and Requip. You should go in to your doctor they will be able to tell you exactly what's causing the problem and perhaps give you meds to control it. Good Luck and Feel Better.
1257808 tn?1322762215 Oh, sorry to hear. Restless leg can be a bear to deal with and definitely disrupt sleep. Have you been to your doctor about it? There are different reasons why people have it. Sometimes it is an iron deficiency, believe it or not. Your doctor can test for that and you should only start iron supplements if they recommend it. You'd want to make sure your kidney's are functioning properly, and again, your doctor can test for that.
Avatar n tn I do not have the answer, however I also suffer from "RESTLESS BODY SYNDROME". I have RLS and take Requip at bedtime for it, which helps. But this RESTLESS BODY thing is a whole new monster. I have noticed some correlation with: 1) The weather - rain coming or when the barometric pressure changes, 2) When my back pain is worse, 3) Stress or Illness.
Avatar n tn I need to get off aand people tell me soboxon is the only way but that is addictive. I want to stp on my own. Also have restless leg syndrome. Will requip help with that? Wha can i do?
514273 tn?1311609635 Requip prescribed for patient with RLS (restless leg syndrome) and to some extent..people with Parkinson. I think the dosage is triple for Parkinson's though. I know about the skin crawling feeling...i'm suffering through that now. Dude...from what I read so far..you are at day 4, the worse of it is almost past. I tried weening and that didn't work one bit. There was no self control. I know it’s easy for me to sit here and tell you to just ride it out..
Avatar n tn I am 26 years old I suffer from chronic migraines. Supposedly I have restless leg syndrome. Since I had diagnose they have change my medication 3 times. At first the doctor prescribed me tramadol 50 mg, then she prescribed Requip 15 mg and now they prescribed me Meripex .0125 mg. My question is Why none of those medicines I just mentioned help me with the symptoms I have?
