Avatar f tn It might be advisable for you to try to find other medications for your anxiety and your insomnia; several of the anti-anxiety and insomnia medications do make RLS worse, but others do not. Your episodes of waking up with several uncomfortable symptoms may be panic attacks, but there are several other possibilities. It sounds like you have several symptoms and problems related to sleep, and you might find benefit from evaluation at a Sleep Disorders Center.
867787 tn?1318936230 Hi Dr. Park, I'm going to see a neurologist soon as my family doctor strongly suspects that I have MS. My problem is that I'm having terrible bouts with insomnia. I take Requip & Zanaflex nightly but they don't seem to help. The meds do help with restless legs & muscle spasms but I was told that they would help me sleep also. I wore a moniter all night while I slept but my results were ok. I have tried ambien & over the counter sleep aids & nothing seems to work.
Avatar f tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Gabapentin for anxiety and general malaise, Requip for restlessness, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for the muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose for sleep. It will make withdrawals easier. You can try ibuprofen 600mg if you have pain. Please don't start taking the opiates again as it will only throw you back into withdrawals once you stop again, or make you relapse.
Avatar m tn A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Avatar n tn You could ask your doc for Requip...it is used for restless leg syndrome. There are a few other meds that could possibly help...one of them being Neurontin. Talk to your doc about it....Other than that, I used a heating pad that wrapped around my legs for that wanting to move constantly feeling...it helped some...not alot, but some. Valium will not help for this.
Avatar f tn But you could go get some a rx called Requip from your dr..it is specifically for that..also did you use any supplements when you went cold turkey?? potassium for rls..etc.. eagle pretty much covered it..it's not a bed of roses..but it won't last forever..good luck and keep posting..

The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol has an effect on the serotonin receptor in the central nervous system. That means you may also need an SSRI antidepressant to deal with some depression that may develop as the result of your withdrawal.

But it does get better and better every day, so please don’t give up. I encourage you to look at my blog on detox options for more info on withdrawals by clicking on my name and you may be interested in taking a look at my clinic’s website, www.mdsdrugdetox.com since we often detox patients with tramadol addictions.
Avatar m tn The residual depression, insomnia and weakness may persist for months. A physician may be able to prescribe you some Requip for the restless leg syndrome, Neurontin for agitation and malaise, and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The good news is that by November 2nd it should not be picked up in the blood test any longer and I promise you will be feeling better and better every day. It may take months to actually feel great again.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.

Avatar f tn S/he may be able to prescribe you some Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. I do think you should go on an SSRI antidepressant for at least a few months to cover the SSRI effects of the tramadol, But it does get better and better every day, so please don’t give up.
Avatar m tn The withdrawal from it is essentially the same as the one for the opiates and usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms followed by several more of just insomnia and general weakness and depression. See if a doctor is able to prescribe you some Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. I do think you should go on an SSRI antidepressant for at least a few months to cover the SSRI effects of the tramadol.

Avatar n tn I do not have the answer, however I also suffer from "RESTLESS BODY SYNDROME". I have RLS and take Requip at bedtime for it, which helps. But this RESTLESS BODY thing is a whole new monster. I have noticed some correlation with: 1) The weather - rain coming or when the barometric pressure changes, 2) When my back pain is worse, 3) Stress or Illness.
Avatar m tn I am a 30 year old female, married with 4 kids. I have had so many health problems lately, and so many diagnosis, that I am starting to wonder if it is something else? I feel like there is no way I have all these things wrong with me! That and the treatments never seem to work. Here are my problems. Migraines-I get headaches almost on a daily basis. Half of the time they turn into full blown migraines. I am on a medicine to help prevent them, that seems to work only part of the time.
Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Requip for RLS, which I had so bad with my Tramadol withdrawal, I would rock and bounce for hours during both the day and night. I had RLS for at least 6 hours or more a day for almost a month. I took the Requip for the first 40 days, now I take it 2x a week. My doc said after I hit 2 months or more off the opiates, we can talk about me jumping off the Requip all together.

Avatar f tn Has anyone tried Requip for Restless Legs while trying to detox off of Subutex or Suboxone? This is the worst part for me in trying to get off of Subutex & I am literally scared sh**less of them. I had them so bad that I almost over-dosed on Klonopin & Somas (from a family member) to rid myself of them. I am on less than 1 mg of Subutex a day now & having anxiety & diarrhea. That I can handle, but the RLS I can not. Any advice or experience would be great!

Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
