Its sad and it just goes to show you that ADDICTION doesn't discriminate!! It affects people from ALL WALKS OF LIKE! Doesn't care if your rich or poor, old or young, college educated or HS drop out... No one is immune...

Hey its not in Pasadena but Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC) in Houston on Gessner (Beltway @ I-10 west is where I went and it saved my life. 400+ mg of oxy every day was my habit, now I've been clean of all mind altering drugs for over 14 months. I hughly recommend it to anyone who is in the Houston or surrounding areas, it is widely renouned as the best treatment center in Houston, second in Texas to La Hacienda in San Antonio (I think thats where it is).
I am cancer free and doing the chicken dance as we talk!! My TSH level remains high up in the atmosphere, but Houston said that I am going to descend slowly back down to ground zero. t be mean, but I wonder if I should go all out and travel to Houston (I am in Austin) to the MS clinic there to get evaluated. Austin doesn't have the best MRI machines or a big clinic that specializes in MS like Houston does.
Would that be overkill? What would you do? Would you stay here and go the nice neurologist the rheumy referred or travel to a big center? Does anyone know anything about the Maxine Mesinger MS clinic in Houston? Does it have a good rep?
My original question was to convince my son to get help for his pill addiction. I saw a website in Houston called Detox Houston (which is where he lives) & I convinced him to go. The website looks great & sounds great but it is not. It's a joke. There is no follow-up help at all. He's had some terrible relapses & now I'm trying to find something else. He wants something that he can do as an outpatient. How do you go about finding a decent doctor/therapist to help you?

I would get a consultation with an expert aortic surgeon. This isn't something that comes up every day. You've posted on the peer support forum, and you need an expert medical consultation. Were I in your situation, I would be planning to travel to an aortic center to see a surgeon with demonstrated expertise aortic arch surgery.
How do you go about getting into a trial. I live in the Houston area. Is it difficult to do?
we are trying to plan what to do to help him. We are trying to find an outpatient detox facility in Houston, Texas for him to go to. He has a great job & makes great money, but he's always broke. We don't give him any money. I have seen a place online called Detox Houston.com. Does anyone know anything about it? Any type of information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I do bruise easily, and have had one platelet transfusion, the rest is on m list to ask my MD at the end of the month
Has anyone on here been to or known anyone that has been to Haven House Rehab Center in Oxford, MS??? I will be going in a couple of days and just curious if anyone has an opinion on it.
Also, to all the women.... I haven't had a period since jan 19. The only other times I have skipped, I was pregnant but I have taken 2 tests and they were both negative. Can withdrawals from lortab cause you to miss a cycle for 2 months? Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect of detox and relapse?
I was in rehab for the first time in March. Was only there for 2 weeks because I found out I was pregnant about a week into treatment. They tested me when I got there but the results didn't come back until 7 days into treatment. I was already out of detox. So I chose to stay clean and not get back on anything. They wanted to put me back on methadone which is what they used to wean me off the oxy contin.
It all depends on the person. What do you think is best for you?
