rebif formulation

thanks for making feel welcome x problem is that i really want to just trust in what my neuro is doing, i do feel taken very seriously by him and i also can tell that he does care about every single one of his patients including myself. he mentioned something about a new formulation of rebif, but not sure if that is likely to change the side effects. i guess i am already quite depressed again-suppose crying is a pretty good indication, as i'm otherwise not so prone to that.

When I was dx'ed last fall my neuro gave me info on 3 studies: Rebif New Formulation vs placebo; efficacy of combining Avonex and Copaxone; and a natural history study, as an adjunct to the Avonex/Copaxone study. I declined all of them as I live about 450 kms from the research facility and being in a study involves monthly follow ups. Winter was around the corner, I was overwhelmed by my dx, and did not want to make a commitment to be doing all that travel.

Copaxone is the weakest and he did not recommend it for me. Betaseron, Rebif and Avonex are essentially the same drug, Intefereon beta, administered in different doses. My Neuro is a big believer in Neutralizing antibodies. Avonex NAB rate is around 5% Rebif around 10-15% Betaseron 25-30% NABs can bind to the active side of the interferon molecule rendering it useless. So naturally (if you believe in NABs) you would likely pick the one with the lowest NABs.

Hi all, I have been on Rebif for about 18 months now and it makes me constantly feel like ****, sorry for the expression! What I mean is I just never feel normal. I came off it for 2 months in Jan to try for a baby, I have never felt so great, I had a relapse after 6 wks so my neuro said trying for another child was a bad idea for me and my family, so I went back on the Rebif. I was just thinking should I try another dmd to see if it makes me feel better or are they all gonna be the same?

I have MS and have been taking Rebif foe 7 years. It has worked very well. I just learned that my current drug insurance plan from Humana will not cover Rebif in 2015. What plans cover at least some of the Rebif cost? My copay with Humana was about $300 per month. Would like not to exceed this amount.

So the ins company wont pay for Copaxone or Gilynia until my daughter first tries Rebif (i guess because its cheaper for them.) I have a concern with her being on an interferon due to the possible mental health side effects. She is already on Lexapro for anxiety and mild depression. I dont want anything adding to the issue. We have dr app tomorrow to discuss Rebif but I dont want her on it. Anyone have bad side effects with Rebif??? Any advise for me?? Thank you.

I have been on Rebif for four months now, and I am not going to do another shot, I can't handle the side effects. I've tried premedicating and nothing seems to work. How many of you are in the same situation? and what did you do?

I took my first shot of Rebif today. I gave myself the shot and i thought this is great no stinging, no redness, no lump like i had with Copaxone. Then WHAM!!!! I had abdominal pain about an hour after the shot it lasted for about 6hrs The only thing i could compare it to was a 6hr nonstop labor pain. We will see what happens Monday when i take the next shot. Does anyone else get this abdominal pain on Rebif.

Is anyone currently taking Rebif? And does anyone know anything about it? I was just (finally) diagnosed with MS, though my Neuro wouln't say which kind it was... and is planning on putting me on Rebif. It's been 2 years since my symptoms started, and haven't had any kind of relapse or relief in any symptoms, they just keep coming.

When I went to get my rebif refilled last week was tokd they were out and its on border and they don't kniw when it will come in and could be a couple months. I called every pharmacy in town and got.same.story. Then called rebif and they know.if.no shortage. Is anyone else.having this problem? In meantime I am out so no shots.

News article confused me, because interferon beta-1a is available in the U.S. (as Avonex and Rebif). However, the official release clarifies that "the trial was conducted with the human serum albumin-free formulation of interferon beta-1a," and that isn't available in the U.S. So while I don't know the difference, it's not really a new drug they're using here. Nevertheless, the study's approach to treatment, and its positive results, is interesting.

That ***** Jane!!! I totally agree and I also hate change. My rebif nurse keeps trying to make me switch to a new autoinjecter that retracts. I like what I have now thank you ! :) Call shared solutions, I'm sure they can send you something different :).

I've been on Rebif for about 13 years. My insurance recently stopped covering it, but offered Aubagio as an alternative--sounded good to me! I'll be switching, but I'm worried about just stopping Rebif cold turkey (which my neurologist suggests). Has anyone had any experiences with stopping Rebif?

They were high, so at that point my neuro instructed me to go off all meds and supplements, and no alcohol, stayed on Rebif and they remained high when test was repeated. Went off Rebif, stayed off other meds and alcohol, they returned to normal, and remained so after I started other meds again and consumed alcohol again. This is how we could be certain it was Rebif causing the prolem.
