Common Questions and Answers about Rebetol package insert

rebetol

Avatar f tn As long as you took your correct dosage today I think you'll be ok. I think package insert recommends if a dosage is skipped you take you proceed with normal dosage the next day but you could take an extra one tonight, one in the morning and another during the day and it wouldn't do any harm. I've actually done it and wasn't bothered at all.
Avatar n tn I am curious how many rebetol caps are most people taking. The insert in the Peg package says to take 800 mg per day but I am taking 1200 mg. (3 morning and 3 night). I weigh 79 kg, (170#) How much Ribavirin are you taking? Anyone have concerns that in the package insert it says that Ribavirin MAY be a carcinogen? What's with that?
Avatar m tn it does not seem like Merck really wanted to send me a new package just to be sure. i have really taken a beating with the brain fog this time.
408795 tn?1324939275 PegIntron in combination with REBETOL (ribavirin) and an approved Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitor is indicated in adult patients (18 years of age and older) with HCV genotype 1 infection (see the Package Insert of the specific HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitor for further information).

And again right, that is a pretty stout dose of ribavirin (same as mine and bill's was)---which I think is great and as mentioned gives some wiggle room to lower if hgb drops to hard... Avatar m tn .The package insert simply says take with food , no designation as to how much or what, follow the link to see more on the subject. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Starting-Week-12-on-INC---THEN-WHAT-/show/1637168 .
Avatar m tn But I have been advised that I shouldn’t mix Copegus with Rebetol. From the RebetolPI The safety and efficacy of REBETOL Capsules with interferons other than INTRON A or PEG-INTRON products have not been established. So maybe I shouldn’t mix them. As Copegus are pink pills and Rebetol has blue stripes on the capsule then I kinda saw them as boy/girl pills. I was hoping that if you mixed them together that they will bread. Instead it looks like they might fight. Bugg3r.
Avatar n tn Here is a PDF file address for the package insert for Procrit, including prescribing instructions for doctors. I followed the 'chemotherapy' section of the guide for reference, as opposed to 'surgery' or 'kidney dialisis'. I'm not personally using Procrit, but found some good info here. I thought this might be a good thread to throw this into. Here you go - http://www.procrit.com/common/prescribing_information/PROCRIT/PDF/ProcritBooklet.
Avatar m tn I took this from Schering-Plough’s package insert PDF (I had to type it, because I don’t know how to copy and paste from PDF); it suggests that the effect that a fatty meal might be even more efficacious with ribavirin than the data Trish posted: http://www.spfiles.com/pipeg-intron.pdf “Both AUC and C-MAX increased by seventy percent when Rebetol Capsules were administered with a high fat meal: (841 kcal, 53.8 g fat, 31.6 g protein, and 57.
1148619 tn?1332014584 >for Riba to be effective it should be taken with just as much fat if not more then incivek. not true. The food requirements in the medication guide for copegus (one of the brand names under which rbv is sold) makes no mention of fat: "Take COPEGUS with food." http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/archives/fdaDrugInfo.cfm?archiveid=12149#Guide whereas the language in the inci package insert is explicit about the requirement for 20g of fat/dose.
Avatar m tn even a moderate snack with VIC seems to be adequate, no fat required. The package insert states "[a meal or light snack]". I'm about to start w12 and make a smoothie from an apple, protein powder and blueberries for my 2:30 feeding (worse than having babies in the house again!) Seems to work OK - but as far as taste, that's there for the duration. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Ribavirin is genotoxic and mutagenic and should be considered a potential carcinogen. (See REBETOL package insert for additional information and other warnings)." Can a warning be any more dramatic then that? Did you read the last line " In many but not all cases these disorders resolve after stopping PEG-Intron therapy."? "I had no idea that the after-effects from the successful tx could be so severe, or go on for so long.
Avatar f tn //www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic2/ribav_cp.htm Note that they use the disclaimer "no clinical significance" has been found. In other words, there are no studies proving that better riba absorption translates into more of a chance of SVR. But again, I'm just putting two and two together for myself here. The other thing with riba (can you tell I'm obsessed with the drug. LOL) is that taking it with antacids can do the opposite of of a high-fat meal.
Avatar f tn “Pediatrics (3-17 years of age): It is recommended that patients receiving PegIntron/REBETOL combination (excluding those with HCV Genotype 2 and 3) be discontinued from therapy at 12 weeks if their treatment Week 12 HCV-RNA dropped <2 log10 compared to pretreatment or at 24 weeks if they have detectable HCV-RNA at treatment Week 24.” Nygirl, Trish, and spectda were very concerned that your physician claimed, “100% cure rate with the many children she has treated”.
Avatar f tn I understand it to be that Rebetol (the Schering-Plough ribavirin) is dosed at 1000 mg for 65-85 kilo, and Copegus (the Roche ribavirin) is dosed at 1200 mg for 75 kilos up. So are you on Pegasys and Copegus then, since you have been on 1200 mg ribavirin? At your weight of 77 kilo, 1200 mg is 15.58 mg per kilo, and 1000 mg is 12.98 mg per kilo. I've heard that between 13-15 mg per kilo is a good amount for geno 1's.
