Avatar n tn Carafate Tablets are also used for longer-term therapy at a reduced dosage after a duodenal ulcer has healed. Carafate helps ulcers heal by forming a protective coating over them. Some doctors also prescribe Carafate for ulcers in the mouth and esophagus that develop during cancer therapy, for digestive tract irritation caused by drugs, for long-term treatment of stomach ulcers, and to relieve pain following tonsil removal.
Avatar m tn Women who do not have enough vitamin B12 in their blood before and after conception have a greater chance of having a baby with brain or spinal cord defects, a new study says. Most at risk may be vegans and vegetarians, since B12 is far more common in meat and animal-based foods, noted an American and Irish research team whose findings were published in the March issue of Pediatrics.. According to the study, women with low levels of B12 had at least 2.
Avatar n tn If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. He had such a bad day yesterday that I stopped the Prevacid dosage last night just to see what would happen. I gave him some infant tylenol this morning (no Prevacid) and he drank 4ozs, which is more than half of what he had yesterday the entire day. Any help or suggestions would be great. This has been the hardest thing I have ever gone through. My son is in extreme pain and discomfort.
Avatar f tn I have been on 40 mg omeprazole QAM for 4 and a half weeks and 300 mg ranitidine Qhs. I have no relief of my symptoms. Esophagus feels as something is stuck in it much of the time with sharp pains and burning in chest, arms and back much of the day as well. It doesn't matter if my stomach is empty or I have eaten. Symptoms are the same and I am getting very little if any relief from the meds. Is there anything that can help or am I in trouble? I am very worried.
530191 tn?1214166411 I've been on hydroxizine, xyzal, fexofenidine, doxepin, claritan, ranitidine, and of course, the dreaded prednisone. I have found that all anti-histhamines so far have little to no effect. I get hives when I work-out or sweat, when I swim, when a cold wind hits me, during my period, when I'm sick, and sometimes for no reason at all. The only drug that seems to be effective is prednisone, which makes me fat and jittery. I feel like a fluffy pillow or a marshmallow when I take prednisone.
541465 tn?1219431486 The chalky Magnesium/Calcium Carbonate ant-acid are much safer for heartburn ESPECIALLY for Methdone patients. Zantac ranitidine will ruin your day. Why dont you eat better.
Avatar f tn Now because off this other condition that is similar to an allergic reaction and they also have no clue to I am on prednisone twice a day, zyrtec, allergra twice a day, ranitidine, and singular. I still have whatever this condition is and although it helps a little it never completely goes away. So again, good luck and god bless. Just wanted to show some support because I know most people don`t understand what this puts us through especially during the summer where clothing can`t hide them.
Avatar n tn There are not any studies of how these work on children yet, but I have heard stories of them working wonders with children with behavioral problems that are aggressive, or that have ADD or ADHD. Because of these supplements I have gotten rid of Paxil, Ridilin, and Amerol, not to mention a few others the dac wanted to put me on. I suggest that you do your own research by looking on the internet for these supplements. They also are said to help with Fibromyalgia symptoms.
Avatar n tn I'm thankful that after my synthroid dosage was increased to 150 mcg a day, the hives have stopped. I need to write my allergist a letter letting him know what if he gets another patient like myself, that he should suspect a thyroid issue before he just writes her off... So even if you aren't a hyroid patient, if you suggest to your doctor that he/she could run a quick (relatively) cheap test to see if your hives are autoimmune related...maybe you'll find some relief?
Avatar n tn One thing that I am sure about is that the lips and hands could be related to taking aspirin. I used to take an adult dosage and had severe reactions. Then I was determined to be able to take one baby aspirin. But if I have to get off the aspirin for surgery, then it comes back when I resume. Currently I am off the stuff, however I am having other issues after bone transplant dental surgery.
Avatar n tn I have a 4 year old son who has been showing the same symptoms as many of the other children here. It started about 2 weeks ago when he woke up in the middle of the night and vomited in his sleep only to wake up not feeling well. The next day he was fine so I figured it had to be something he ate so I threw away a lot of the foods he ate that day passing his illness of as a reaction to something he ate. However his vomiting started again the other night. Same time of night as the last time.
Avatar n tn I did a little research on Prednisone and it states that if you have had a history of malaria then your dosage should be reduced or you should be tested first. None of these things happened. I'm thinking law-suit. Do Docs know what they are doing anymore? I have an appt. tomorrow, we'll see. I'm back at work still itching, joints hurt, no Lortab (just took the edge off) and wondering what the heck is wrong with me.
Avatar n tn I also took Elavil, it worked for a while, but since it's a narcotic the dosage must be continually increased, then replaced by stronger medication. I took all the prescribed GI med's and heavy pain killers (kinda cradictive treatment, huh!), was even on MORPHINE pump for a week, all to no avail. I had so many upper and lower GI exams, I could have sold tour tickets and made a fortune. I donated enough blood for tests to supply the local Red Cross for a month.
Avatar n tn At home, they just slip out and my husband and children will repeat the sound from different rooms in the house to tease and "echo" me with humor. Funny, yeah right. I wish I didn't do it, but yet after a "bi-gawk" escapes me, I feel so much better. By this intense burp/hiccup spasm, I'm certain much more gas (or whatever it is building inside me) is allowed to escape than with a simple burp.
Avatar n tn i am a 36 year old with 2 children and also in the last year been suffering with headaches and the last few weeks dizziness and nausea. i am very worried thta something is wrong with me and have a unsympathtic over worked doctor who makes me feel no better.can someone give me a answer please?
Avatar n tn Afraid I hvn't found any regular cure yet - nothing apart from (occasionally) Alka Seltza or baking soda, or, in moments of extreme desperation, sticking a finger down my throat, despite docs advising against it. Yes, I've had Prilosec for heartburn. Ranitidine costs less, I believe. Some time ago a doc prescribed high doses of Prilosec and Propulsid (20mg of each 3 times a day I think). I was free for over a week, and thought I was cured.
Avatar n tn I can give up my activities for awhile to stay alive for my children. I would hate to think that I had a stroke and either died or ended up in a wheel chair because I couln't take the time to heal myself. When this is over, no matter how long it takes, I can always go back to my sports. My pain management specialist said it best, " Arteries have many, many nerves and a carotid dissection is like having the muscle torn away from the bone, or your skin torn away from your muscle.
Avatar n tn Who can afford to trouble shoot when you are uninsured with children. I just know that there has to be more commonalities here than meets the eye.So please if anybody has gotten more info. or thinks of something else that may be related post it. I plan to do as much research as I can from home. I will let you all know if I come up with anything. Thanks for the input so far.
Avatar f tn Whoops I forgot to give the dosage 5-15 mg ought to do it, you may have to experiment. However the drug will have a completely different effect if you go much over 30 mg, and more often than not, more is worse less is better. I take 5mg which works very well, but 25 mg doesn't seem to work at all. This is probably because the alpha sites are blocked in the gi track. The norepinephrine may be an exponential component where as the alpha blocking mechanism is linear.
Avatar n tn Flushing, or blushing, is associated with the erythema (reddening caused by dilation of capillaries) of the face, neck, and shoulder, after consumption of alcohol. There is some evidence that by ingesting Ranitidine (such as Zantac) prior to usage, you can bi-pass this metabolic pathway. Flushing can be caused by many factors listed below. Have you tried cutting out the alcohol to determine if it may be the cause? Let me know if this helps. Cheers!
Avatar m tn They only used to last a couple of hours but now they are lasting 8-10 hours and sometimes both day and night. It is getting me really down now because when i have these pains i cannot look after my children properly as i can barely walk and move because everything hurts. I have been back to my GP and he prescribed me some antacids as he has put it down to Acid Reflux and Trapped wind.
