Specifically, the delayed sleep phase syndrome. He prescribed Ramelteon to help her fall asleep at night. So far, the sleeping pill seems to work but in a subtle way. If she does not prep herself for sleep, sleep will not come. It has gotten so bad that she cannot remember the last time she slept and felt rested.
There is a bit more to it then just a sleeping problem. I am not sure if this is related to it but she has laps of time where she can't remember specifically what she did.
If you want help for insomnia medicinally, ask your physician to write a prescription for a hypnotic drug, avoid caffeine, and practice good sleep hygiene.
It is my understanding too that benzos, like Valium; Ambien (which is actually a hypnotic and in the benzo family); clonazapam; etc. have negligible if any adverse affects on the liver. I've had to take benzos for several years, and I had my first liver biopsy in June. I have 0 fibrosis, and mild inflammation. So, I wouldn't worry unduly about any danger taking Valium to yourliver if you need it for medicinal purposes. The dangerous drug to worry about, of course, is alcohol.
I am unable to sleep untill early morning(around 3 am,though not fixed timing).Doctor prescribed me a antidepressant,a hypnotic and a sedative drug and i am taking my medicines since six months but not having any improvement.And i always feel very tired and stressed.Need some guidance.Thanks.
I have been finding the compressor noise rather hypnotic myself lately and have been falling asleep with it, kind of like white noise. Maybe that it what is happening with her.
You do need to check with her doctor to make sure that she is gett ing the relief that she needs.

It kind of feels like the feeling you get when you get up to fast and you feel like your going to faint , but for me I can be standing up and it happens at any moment. When I first noticed this my whole body was numb and my fingers will be moving the same way a magician moves his fingers but I would be doing it on my leg or my arm.
Benzodiazipines are what would used to be called "tranquilizers." They are grouped in 4 catagories, Anti-anxiety,Anti-Convulsant, Hypnotic, and Muscle Relaxant. Each Benzo has a different "half life" the amount of time it stays in your system. Diazepam, or "Valium" was almost certainly used pre-operatively at a high dose for it's Anxiolytic effect to give you a calm feeling and the Temazepam or "Restoril" was most likely infused into your i.v.
m not sure how that works when someone has abused it severely since it is a hypnotic. Is it classified as a benzo?
Doctors can not find pharmacies able to provide the two drugs required to make up the Tuinal combo, we can not even source Seconal now and to stave off withdrawal for almost a year I have had to take Sedabarb phenobarbital, a long acting anticonvulsant barb which would kill me were I to take the quantity required to act as hypnotic; and then due to duration of action if I survive I would probably become narcoleptic!
Well, it's common to suffer from insomnia when you are quitting alcohol or any downer. Exercising is a good start, because that should keep you focused on being healthy, feeling good, and eventually tire yourself out enough to fall asleep. But... natural cures are hit and miss. Some people swear by Melatonin or 5-HTP. I'd suggest that you ask your doctor for hypnotic sleeping pill(Lunesta instead of Ambien since it's much healthier and harder to abuse.

I take Trazodone for sleep. It is an older antidepressant with hypnotic components. The nice thing is it is cheap and works well. I take 50mg an hour before bedtime. Wellbutrin can be stimulating. Lamictal can be mildly sedating.I forget which topomax is. I was only on it for a few months. Made me stupid.
Definitely is a controlled substance, not a narcotic, it is a sedative/ hypnotic, benzodiazepine, antianxiety agent. Has potential for abuse.
Most anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines are acting by raising the levels of GABA therefore promoting hypnotic and sedative effects. Activating the CB1 receptors is also linked with an increased appetite, sugar craving and sedation. The combustion of cannabis will not result in only getting THC but also other substances that might contribute to other symptoms.
