Ramelteon and rls

Common Questions and Answers about Ramelteon and rls

rozerem

Avatar f tn Ramelteon has not been shown to produce dependence and has shown no potential for abuse, and the withdrawal and rebound insomnia that is typical with other GABA modulators is not present in ramelteon.
Avatar f tn An article published in 2006 stated that “The two newest sedative hypnotic medications, eszopiclone and ramelteon do not appear to offer additional benefit and are high cost alternatives to the older agents. Further studies with active comparators are necessary prior to identifying their ideal place in therapy”. (http://pharmacy.oregonstate.edu/drug_policy/pages/dur_board/newsletter/articles/volume8/DURV8I1.html). You might want to refer to an article on ramelteon in chronic insomnia.

Avatar n tn Specifically, the delayed sleep phase syndrome. He prescribed Ramelteon to help her fall asleep at night. So far, the sleeping pill seems to work but in a subtle way. If she does not prep herself for sleep, sleep will not come. It has gotten so bad that she cannot remember the last time she slept and felt rested. There is a bit more to it then just a sleeping problem. I am not sure if this is related to it but she has laps of time where she can't remember specifically what she did.

Avatar n tn never heard of it and when you get off the methadone it causes RLS so Im very confused as to why they perscribed it
Avatar f tn Of course RLS, and RLS-type s/s related to w/d are two different things, but I personally think your doctor's way of trying to find out which you are experiencing is off. Since you're weaning, you're likely to experience the w/d r/t RLS and after the two weeks and you're done 'em, you're likely to experience them even more. I really don't think it's a good time to try to figure it out.
Avatar f tn For the past few months I've been experiencing aches and heaviness in my legs. These usually happens in the evening or while I'm sleeping. But I once move around it goes away. I've had RLS for the past 8-10 years and I don't take anything for it. Please help.
Avatar f tn It is probably the pain meds that is helping with the RLS. I also have RLS pretty bad and finally found a good med (carbidopa) that helps and has few to no side effects at the level that I have to take to control it. It seems to be a neurological concern. You are taking the pain meds when the endo flares up which in turn helps with RLS. However, be careful there is a whole forum here dealing with people addicted to pain meds. It is a fine line.
Avatar n tn ll know whether to adjust the oxygen saturation and pressure and/or adjust your RLS meds... sometimes Mirapex will indeed lose its effectiveness over time and need a change.
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Avatar m tn I have had RLS all of my life and I tried the Requip as well which helpedd me but when I was w/ding it did not help a bit. I usually (when I am not using) have to shake my feet until I go to sleep. I take a hot shower before I go to sleep and that helps a little but depending on how long I have been on my feet during the day I still have to shake my feet and stretch my legs and calves for a few minutes before I can go to sleep.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if there is a connection between RLS and MS. I started out 3 years ago diagnosed with RLS. I went to the doctor because I was soooo tired. Over the past three years I have a whole bunch of other things going on, plus the RLS is out of control. When I go to bed at night, I can't even lay and watch tv. My legs start with the pulsing, pins and needles and the need to stretch. I can't stand it so I have to take my meds (Mirapex), which puts me to sleep.
Avatar f tn Long, long time ago, I was prescribed statins, and then I got RLS. I stopped the statins. But the RLS continued and does to this day. I have no idea what my cholesterol looks like now, haven't seen a doc in a while, I'm all docked out, but I reckon I'm about to die at this point! Smile. But you make me think of when I was trying to figure out why I had RLS, since nobody knows what causes it. The thing about RLS is, once you have it, you ALWAYS have it.
459155 tn?1264008142 Is there anything I can take over the counter for RLS? I'm 24hours CT now and my legs hurt!!
Avatar m tn I have had a hydro addiction in the past..for back pain and not rls tho..i also take ambien and hydro was by far the greater of the 2 evils..sure ambien can be abused but is not physically addicting...but it is dangerous if abused...guess hydro is as well..i am the type that desnt abuse everything i touch tho and i am still at the same dose of ambien for sleep...2-3 mgs that i was 10 years ago...was not that way with hydro cos my tolerence grew over the years..
Avatar f tn I've had RLS for about the past 10 years and periodic limb movements and wore a CPAP before I lost 75 lbs. I'm still not getting more than 2 - 4 hours of sleep a night and most is interupted. I never feel rested. I'm going through testing for MS...do you know if these neurological symptoms are ever related to MS?
279948 tn?1241270076 I have talked with someone who gets infusions every several months to keep her iron up and control her severe RLS. She says her RLS symptoms are dramatically better after an infusion. But then again, her iron issues are not the norm, and one who doesn't have her issues would not need this treatment or see such results. Hope you find solutions for your RLS. And "torturous" was an apt description.
Avatar n tn Well, folks, help is on the way! Go to rls.org, check out their various info departments, which give you a million tips on medications, possible causes, and so on. Also they have a helpful forum, you can search and then read lots of discussions on RLS stuff you might have questions about. There are other RLS websites, too...that's just one I know off the top of my head.
Avatar n tn My father has had RLS for years and taking Sinemet to control it. Lately he has been acting differently almost like he has no control over his arms, mouth and legs. Can taking Sinemet for a long period of time cause Parkinson or similar disorders?
Avatar f tn  Right now taking  1/2 afternoon and 1 at night.Offers little help with night RLS. None with bad waking.  Horrible to go back to where I was after those months of peaceful nights and NORMAL waking. Any help welcome.
464044 tn?1343702043 but after I was going into 3 wks clean, and still had the rls pretty bad, I went to my doc, he gave me gabapentin, and yes it did help, just wish I had gotten it earlier in my withdrawals. I to was afraid at first, but after it was the 3rd wk, and everything else had pretty much cleared up, I just could not take it another *** day. I will NEVER forget that RLS. I wanted to just cut my freakin leggs off with one swipe!!!
