Common Questions and Answers about Provigil prescribing information

provigil

Avatar f tn My old doctor left recently and I have a new doctor who put me on Provigil. It was disastrous. I cried constantly and felt exhausted after small spurts of energy. I couldnt focus and I was nervous. I was very depressed, also. After this, she thought about putting me back on the drug I abused a few years ago, Adderall. Of course, my eyes lit up. I loved this drug. It worked wonderfully for me. I ended up putting it up my nose. She knows my history.
704043 tn?1298056844 I was prescribed generic Ritalin by my PCP when I couldn't afford Provigil. She had no problem with prescribing it, as she had watched me grow more fatigued over the years, saw how much Provigil helped me, and was willing to try another medication. Oh, my neuro at that time had suggested Ritalin if Provigil failed or I was unable to afford it. I found that 5 mg. twice a day even was not tolerable for me. It gave me heart palpitations, facial tics, irritability, etc.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
572651 tn?1530999357 Hypothetically,I understand why people do this, but I'm to much a coward. in the United States, Provigil is a Schedule IV controlled substance, which means it's illegal to import it from a foreign source. Being caught without a rx could be 5 years and 200,000 fine. Just a thought to add to the musings.
Avatar f tn If you want to hear more about my thoughts or experiences with Provigil, I have a great deal of information on it--just send me a message. Keep me posted on how the MRI goes!
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
Avatar f tn I agree with Laurencia - and I would also ask for the prescribing doctor to call you for a telephone consultation... any reputable doctor will. That may be a good time to mention that you've lost your insurance in addition to your job and activities at school as a result of your current condition.
479581 tn?1317757488 Provigil to release their patient, or whatever. Most of the time it take 2 -3 years, but Provigil has been out since 99, with no one else scoping up the generic type. I can't afford 200 bucks a month on on pill...
565254 tn?1224716453 I am currently taking provigil for my fatigue. The pharmacy had to order it so I was out for a few days. During those days I have been headache free. It seems that my headache has come back since I started taking it again. It isn't as bad as a normal one but it is enough to be irritating. I am curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue and if so did it go away after a while. It has really helped the fatigue but I would hate to think that the daily headaches are back.
1394098 tn?1385960134 I was recently diagnosed with cfs. The Dr put me on Cymbalta for the body aches and sleep disturbances. But I'm still very tired all the time. So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
429700 tn?1308007823 After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).
797195 tn?1240579823 I even feel the effects of the Provigil the next day (though not nearly as strong). Actually the Provigil fades out about 8 hours after I take it, but I sure do sleep well that night! The next day, I have slightly more energy than usual. I love Provigil, but, due to the chest fullness, can't use it very often so that is why I was considering Adderall (I'm also ADD). In your opinion, how did the Adderall compare to the Provigil in terms of fatigue reduction?
405614 tn?1329144114 I’m writing once again regarding a possible appeal of the denial of Provigil prescription that you wrote for me at our last visit, after it was clear that the free week’s trial of the medication was very helpful in restoring some of my quality of life. I contacted my insurance company, spoke to Brandon, a pharmacy account specialist. He said that more evidence showing that the medication is medically necessary to help my condition is needed.
Avatar m tn A decent GP would be the place to start ..... provigil is actually indicated for treatment of CFS .......... Its an expensive drug at 10.00 a pill prescription.....lots of insurance companies dont wish to cover it for that reason...... but it is being widely used now - - it will most likely be rescheduled before long because it has more of the shortcomings that straight amphetamines have than was thought during trials........
Avatar f tn I am taking an anti-depressant and my Doctor is thinking I might benefit from this medication Provigil. Has anyone tried this medication? I would appreciate any information.
Avatar f tn Narcolepsy is considered to be a distinct medical condition. It is possible to have both, but I don't think that's what your discussing. Most medications for ADD or ADHD are stimulants of one sort or another, and prescriptions for stimulants are often used to combat MS-related fatigue. I believe several of our community members use Provigil in this capacity. I don't have fatigue to that extent, so coffee usually does the trick. Hopefully folks with personal experience will chime in.
Avatar f tn I was in an accident, I currently have a metal plate, screws, & cadaver bone in my neck, operation 4 yrs ago, I have Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Restless leg syndrome, & depression. I have been on Oxycontin 20 mg 2 x day & Endocet for breakthru pain when needed, Provigil 200 mg 2 x day, Prozac 40 mgs which is on Walmarts 4 dollar plan.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have information on Provigil Abuse? Is it possible? My husband was addicted to prescription Oxy for 5 years and since getting off (3 years ago) has been on several different meds to overcome depression, etc. He has been taking Provigil for 2 years, but recently he runs out of his prescription before the refill date and he stays awake for days on end, between 7-10 days.
Avatar f tn I remember that you have fibro as well as ms, and probably other things. What is your take on asking my dr about Provigil for the extreme fatigue of my fibro? I ended up taking a 3 1/2hr "nap" today. And will have no trouble sleeping tonight.A lot of the posts here mention taking it to help with their fatigue, just wondering if it would help fibro fatigue. Hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!
1710955 tn?1309446473 The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.
