Common Questions and Answers about Provigil no rx

provigil

Avatar m tn i was told today the VA no longer will Rx provigil for MS fatigue. have to have a sleep disorder and get it from pulmonary now. they will, for MS patient fatigue Rx amantadine. i have battled MS fatigue for years and recently decided to try something for it, so the VA is Rx amantadine vs provigil. anyone on this list try amantadine for MS fatigue? just checking with the experts here (actual suffers). i thought provigil was what i needed.
Avatar m tn i dunno, ya know? neruo Rx'd oral methylprednisolone. like for five days and see how that helps with severe fatigue and some weaknesses (upper torso more than lower). i'm wanting to try anything that might help with this but gotta check it here. i'm just checking in and putting it out there to see how other MS'ers who've tried these did with them.
572651 tn?1530999357 I had my neuro switch my Provigil rx from monthly to a 90 day supply so I could save money. It was costing me $50 a month, because my insurance has it as a tier 3 drug. Going to the 90 day supply lets me get the third month for $0 - it would have cost me $100 for 90 days instead of $150. I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost?
405614 tn?1329144114 I received a letter of denial for Provigil coverage after a free week's trial (from the drug company). The Provigil made a world of difference, but is really expensive. My other option is Ritalin, and I don't like the sound of the side effects. I had no negative ones from Provigil.
405614 tn?1329144114 s medical assistant regarding my letter asking for help getting approval for Provigil. She said that Dr. S. said that Dr. Y. needs to do the research since she prescribed the Provigil. I explained that Dr. Y. prescribed the trial rx, and that Dr. S. had written a rx for "fatigue from cerebral white matter disease", that Dr. Y. hasn't considered that as a diagnosis, that she has MS as a differential diagnosis. Dr. S.
429700 tn?1308007823 i know some folks in my MS support group that take it for the MS fatigue/fog and really like it. i tried to get the VA neuro to Rx it, but a no go. don't even ask for provigil at the VA. i guess whoever makes provogil has priced it so ridiculous no on touches it. VA gave me amantadine. didn't work for me the way i was hoping. as i mentioned, others at the MS group really like the ritalin and provogil.
572651 tn?1530999357 I have read articles on the FDA website that are warning against purchasing RX drugs from websites in other countries because they have found many of those online pharmacies are not even giving you the drug you think you are buying. It is very very dangerous. http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm048396.htm Check out that article with the link above. http://www.fda.gov/downloads/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/UCM204943.
Avatar f tn Okay.....was diagnosed this past week. Was given RX for Provigil and will be starting Betaseron. Please tell me of your experiences with these meds. Thanks!
1088527 tn?1425313375 Have found a foundation that will help with cost of Provigil if you have no insurance.......have filled out the papers, will let everyone know if it works, sent the doctor his paper to fill out and am waiting......they mail the drug directly to you.....
704043 tn?1298056844 I was prescribed generic Ritalin by my PCP when I couldn't afford Provigil. She had no problem with prescribing it, as she had watched me grow more fatigued over the years, saw how much Provigil helped me, and was willing to try another medication. Oh, my neuro at that time had suggested Ritalin if Provigil failed or I was unable to afford it. I found that 5 mg. twice a day even was not tolerable for me. It gave me heart palpitations, facial tics, irritability, etc.
198419 tn?1360242356 Thanks you guys! I'll be talking w/ Dr today I hope. I have chosen Copaxone. With my school and ER schedule, it will fit the best. As far as the cramping goes... it has calmed down to a constant tight muscle so I think it's getting better. I'm going to request a RX for Skelaxin (Methocarbamol) to help. It's a non narcotic/sedating muscle relaxer I can take during the day. I'm also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil?
Avatar f tn Hi ... I just wanted to tell everyone about something very scary that happened recently.... I was diagnosed at the end of Nov and probably about a month ago I started having cognitive problems....short term memory issues....confusion.....losing myself in the middle of a conversation....etc.... Last Thurs I was at work trying to explain a procedure when all of a sudden I felt like I just woke up in the middle of the conversation....I knew I was talking but wasn't sure what I was saying....
789572 tn?1334424879 hmmm, don't quite know how to take this silence, either hardly anyone has experienced this dern fatigue, or no one found a way to relieve it. Maybe no one but lalapple saw this question? hehe Somebody give me the magic bullet!
405614 tn?1329144114 My pharmacist (a really great guy) was on the phone for a long time, and his guy told him that there was no NEC (?) number for it. I got my Rx back, took it to Costco, and they filled it, no problem. Should I take the bottle in to show to my pharmacist, so he'll know how to order it? He has a fairly small pharmacy, but he goes above and beyond: he delivers Rxs to my apartment building on his way home, for those who can't make it in to pick them up.
405614 tn?1329144114 Dr. Y. had no problem writing the original Provigil rx, but she made it clear that if I were to continue getting it, she wanted Dr. S. to do the prescribing and follow-up. OK, maybe I can combine Wonko's idea of a short and sweet letter, including the "My response to Provigil is exactly what is seen in MS, which is in the differential diagnosis of my MS specialist" or something like that.
233622 tn?1279334905 Oh no, Provigil does not lower blood pressure. It can really spike it. I think you may have misread the posts because no one said it lowered b/p. I keep a close eye on my B/P because of the Provigil's side effect of higher pressure. Wow this is an old post! Over a year. LA M.S.
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
405614 tn?1329144114 Wow! I took my first 100 mg. of Provigil yesterday. I had to get up really early to make it in to a 8:20 appt. with my PCP, and took my Provigil at 6 am. After my shower, I was feeling pretty good, still dizzy and shaky, but moving fast, ready to go in plenty of time, and took everything I needed to have with me. I got into town in time to go to my apartment, pick up some items I wanted, check in with the forum, and go to my appt. after chatting briefly with a neighbor.
Avatar m tn What type of Dr would prescibe this med? I suffer from chronic fatigue and being the sole caregiver for an ailing parent now for eight years, I have develped caregiver burnout. Energy/motivation has never been lower. I've tried all kinds of nutritional aids to no avail. I would like to try this medication for the short term. I don't have a regular Dr so I am curious what type of Dr I should see to discuss this with........
1142551 tn?1264736930 Provigil is more expensive and I actually had more side effects with Provigil. Nuvigil is the 2nd generation of Provigil and the manufacturer has lowered the price to get everyone "switched" before the patent on Provigil expires in 2011. For me, the difference between Nuvigil and Provigil was amazing. Nuvigil gave me back my life. Provigil let me leave the house but I had trouble functioning. And since Provigil is "going away" it is tough to even get samples.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
Avatar f tn on the addictions forum someone brought up the topic provigil for energy, i have been clean for a while now but i have hep so my energy level is very low, and i also have under active thyroid so my question is this, when i researced this new drug i found """PROVIGIL is a federally controlled substance (C-IV) because it has the potential to be abused or lead to dependence. Please use PROVIGIL only as directed and keep in a safe place to prevent misuse and abuse.
