Common Questions and Answers about Provigil maximum dose

provigil

398059 tn?1447945633 I suffered through a morning hunched over back routine for probably a year before I read the side affects list on the provigil site. I was on the maximum dose 200 mg twice a day. I started taking a lower dose hoping that would help. I had switched perscription drug plams in Janruary. Humanna gave me one complimentary fill of my prescription then discontinued paying for it because I don't have shift workers syndrome or narcelepsy.
335728 tn?1331414412 Well, I think it depends on why it was prescribed and what other drugs one is on. Also, side effects likely increase with dosage. Here is one site that talks about it for MS: http://www.msrc.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/show/pageid/773 I have seen web references of up to 400 mg/day, but I think this whole topic should be reviewed with your doctor before any experimentation. You have a lot of health issues going on. For me, 100 did nothing. I then tried 200 all at once. Still nothing.
5509293 tn?1428531475 Hi Corrie, That's interesting. I'm finding the positive effects great so far if I can just manage the negative ones by dose. It's much better than amantadine which worked for me but I often forgot to take second midday dose. I was told if the BP issues don't settle with smaller dose then neuro can prescribe something else but I think that something else might be Ritalin or something similar. Maybe your neuro doesn't prescribe that.
1511858 tn?1290477459 Hi everybody, I went to my doctor today regarding my tireness and how I still have tremors in the legs and hands, He put me on provigil, he also shared with me that he feels when my thyroid is out of whack its causeing this attack on something that would otherwise was dorment? He wants to still rule out ms but if i dont have ms he wants to start searching for the other things he has in mind. He refused to say what!!!!!! wants me to focus on ruling out ms.
233622 tn?1279334905 I tried to take the full dose, but never was able to. It must strengthen the Provigil or something, because I just don't feel right on the full dosage (I've even tried it recently after being on it for 6 months and couldn't do it). However, on the half dose, I love it! I'm more alert and less fatigued. My blood pressure is about the same.
619930 tn?1260374254 I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.
1831920 tn?1320857757 I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent. Has anyone tried this? I am having a hard time functioning. Any help would be appreciated.
565254 tn?1224716453 I am currently taking provigil for my fatigue. The pharmacy had to order it so I was out for a few days. During those days I have been headache free. It seems that my headache has come back since I started taking it again. It isn't as bad as a normal one but it is enough to be irritating. I am curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue and if so did it go away after a while. It has really helped the fatigue but I would hate to think that the daily headaches are back.
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
1088527 tn?1425313375 Kaiser sucked me into the Nuvigil last year and I am determined to make a stink about getting provigil back. I don't like the Nuvigil at all. I have to take 2x the dose and I don't think it does the same thing. Anyways..... enough of me an my whining. I just wanted to add.... ----> Insurance will cover Provigil for "Shift Work" your doc just needs to code it that way.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
Avatar f tn For the past months I would probably have benefited from an increased dosage of Provigil, but I dared not double the dose because it would also double the cost. I have opted to take the 100 mg, drink two cups of coffee, and take a nap as soon as I get home from work. I feel guilty enough as it is . . . three kids (two of them teens) and I am pulling from the family budget just to stay awake.
Avatar f tn CephalonCares Foundation is the name of the program. I HIGHLY recommend looking into it, it's as simple as filling out your portion of the application, your doc fills out the other part and then hopefully you are approved. I had good insurance when I was approved AND had a good job, so it's worth trying. My medication comes right to my house, I don't even have to call for the refills. I hope that helps... Good luck.
797195 tn?1240579823 I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.
Avatar f tn I'm also on Provigil. Currently my insurance company won't pay for it but I am getting enough "samples" from my doctor. My doctor tried me on Vynasse (whatever the spelling - new one that starts with a V). I had a horrible time using that. I felt like a rabbit on speed. I wanted to get up and start doing jumping-jacks but since my legs weren't working at that time that wasn't an option. It took a lot of will-power not to just get up and try and run around.
Avatar f tn I remember that you have fibro as well as ms, and probably other things. What is your take on asking my dr about Provigil for the extreme fatigue of my fibro? I ended up taking a 3 1/2hr "nap" today. And will have no trouble sleeping tonight.A lot of the posts here mention taking it to help with their fatigue, just wondering if it would help fibro fatigue. Hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!
620048 tn?1358018235 I tried a free 7 day supply of Nuvigil; I found that it lasts longer than Provigil, and seems pretty powerful. I found myself a little irritable, and had some rapid heartbeats, but that's something that can happen with me if I take a decongestant, so I wouldn't say that you would have the same side effects. I would suggest that you take it pretty early in the morning, as I really had a hard time sleeping, even with meds to help that.
398059 tn?1447945633 I know that Provigil today. It is nice to have good nsurance again. I hope it will give me some energy again. Not sure but, I seem to have had more energy to day already after only one pill. But, that might have been my hopes more than the medication. Anyone else have a memory of their first dose and energy effects. How about the first week?
704043 tn?1298056844 t last as long as Provigil. I took 10 mg of Ritalin twice a day (a small dose), though only on days that I needed it. Had no side effects (except for the fast typing and cheerfulness thing). Good luck!
230948 tn?1235844329 ve been unable to tolerate other medications as they made me too jumpy. On Provigil I could only tolerate a small dose (had to cut the pill down - with permission from my doc). Provigil is more expensive than Nuvigil and many insurance companies won't cover Provigil. The drug company lowered the cost of Nuvigil to get people to switch. My week long testing of Nuvigil has been fantastic. It has greatly improved my mental cognition.
537843 tn?1213664232 So your TSH was maybe 70 or 80 before you started taking Levoxyl. Were you started on a high dose? How long have you been taking 200mcg? I have been there. I have had my TSH drop 40 points in a week after getting on the right dose of meds. But I went from post RAI no meds straight to 100mcg, which is what my body wanted. Within six weeks my TSH was between 1.0 and 2.0. That's why I said you may need a dosage increase.
