provigil info

Has anyone taken Provigil for the extreme fatigue of fibro? It is not one of the conditions listed for it's use. But if it helps with extreme fatigue in other conditions, why wouldn't it help in fibro. Thinking about asking my PCP about it next time I'm in to see him.

I dont know the answer but sometimes you can just search the names of both meds together and find info like that. I also look on Yahoo Health for info like that sometimes. And, you could always just call a pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist that is on duty.

s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.

hey guys. thnk you for all the info about lupus and your encouraging words. her doctor that will be treating the disease is starting her on provigil. i did some research online and it seems to be pretty safe and has a lower probability of addiction is far less than the other options... the constant fatigue seems to be her biggest day to day issue. minus the depression and anxiety but that is getting much better since she went into treatment...

I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.

The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.

I received a letter of denial for Provigil coverage after a free week's trial (from the drug company). The Provigil made a world of difference, but is really expensive. My other option is Ritalin, and I don't like the sound of the side effects. I had no negative ones from Provigil.

So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.

Does anyone have information on Provigil Abuse? Is it possible? My husband was addicted to prescription Oxy for 5 years and since getting off (3 years ago) has been on several different meds to overcome depression, etc. He has been taking Provigil for 2 years, but recently he runs out of his prescription before the refill date and he stays awake for days on end, between 7-10 days.

Anyone on medicare have any experience or enlightenment on provigil financial help? I've been quoted 33% copay (tier 4) by my drug insurance company which is over $300 for me The online sources I've contacted no longer cover provigil since the generic came out and the generic is about the same price... However, someone here pointed out that Nuvigil might just be a way the makers of Provigil have to keep Provigil users paying for Trade name drug a little longer (since Provigil will be going generic soon). However, you might consider just having your doctor order a few pills of Nuvigil to see if it could help you. Also, regarding the Provigil: Make sure its expiration date is a long time off. I have found that can make a difference - that it gets weaker with time.

For me the Provigil has helped my thinking clarity a lot in addition to the fatigue.

I am just concerned about treatment now, my fatigue is probably my most bothersome symptom, I have deal with the pain all the time, but the fatigue affects my family, and I have bipolar disorder and am concerned about the drugs they use for the fatigue portion. The neuro wants to give me samples of Provigil, but I am not sure how that will affect my mood. Also, I am concerned about Lyrica, which was another drug he mentioned, but said it could make my fatigue worse.

I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?

This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.

Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...

Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.

I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.

I am currently taking provigil for my fatigue. The pharmacy had to order it so I was out for a few days. During those days I have been headache free. It seems that my headache has come back since I started taking it again. It isn't as bad as a normal one but it is enough to be irritating. I am curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue and if so did it go away after a while. It has really helped the fatigue but I would hate to think that the daily headaches are back.

I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. A decent GP would be the place to start ..... provigil is actually indicated for treatment of CFS .......... Its an expensive drug at 10.00 a pill prescription.....lots of insurance companies dont wish to cover it for that reason...... but it is being widely used now - - it will most likely be rescheduled before long because it has more of the shortcomings that straight amphetamines have than was thought during trials........
