Avatar n tn CAN PROVIGIL PRECIPITATE AN ATTACK OF MANIA IN A PERSON WHO HAS A PROCLIVITY FOR MANIA BUT THE MANIA IS LYING DORMANT This discussion is related to provigil side effects.
619930 tn?1260374254 I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I hope cutting them in half works for you! I found Provigil to be the only thing for lift me out of the fatigue and even helps cut the mental fog. You don't want to wear yourself out, but being able to accomplish more is a great thing. Be kind to your body! My insurance covered Provigil for me for a year, then denied me again. A friend with sleep apnea got a prescription approved, but they filled it with the generic. The receipt said: your insurance saved you $939.00.
Avatar f tn He was a little disappointing in that he was more interested in talking about horses (I board horses) than talking about my symptoms. I had one of the jerks while in there, they seem to only occur when I'm sitting on the exam table. He asked if they disrupted my life and I said not really because they only happen when I'm laying down usually, and only if I'm really worn out or stressed. Anyhow, I told him my biggest problem was fatigue.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
Avatar m tn A decent GP would be the place to start ..... provigil is actually indicated for treatment of CFS .......... Its an expensive drug at 10.00 a pill prescription.....lots of insurance companies dont wish to cover it for that reason...... but it is being widely used now - - it will most likely be rescheduled before long because it has more of the shortcomings that straight amphetamines have than was thought during trials........
401095 tn?1351391770 Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...
1511858 tn?1290477459 Hi everybody, I went to my doctor today regarding my tireness and how I still have tremors in the legs and hands, He put me on provigil, he also shared with me that he feels when my thyroid is out of whack its causeing this attack on something that would otherwise was dorment? He wants to still rule out ms but if i dont have ms he wants to start searching for the other things he has in mind. He refused to say what!!!!!! wants me to focus on ruling out ms.
5509293 tn?1428531475 Has anyone using provigil in 200mg doses had problems with either elevated blood pressure or blood pressure spikes?
233622 tn?1279334905 My mom who has high blood pressure also is on provigil for narcolepsy (SPEELED HORRIBLY WRONG!) She had a heart attack back in April and provigil was one of the first drugs the heart doctor put her back on.
390916 tn?1204840470 Provigil also took hours to kick in for me as well (my doc said it could take several hours), so I used to set my alarm for like 3AM, take the provigil, and by midmorning, it would have started working. I also worked nights at that time, so I would take another at appx 1PM, which would keep me good until about 11PM. By then, I was on my way home from work, tired and ready for bed, and not still "awake" from the medicine.
Avatar f tn YES, it definitely will help you! I've known MS patients who are taking Provigil and they say it's a miracle drug--this doesn't mean it'll work fabulously for everyone, but it does do an amazing job of zapping excessive daytime sleepiness. I'm taking Provigil for excessive daytime sleepiness as a result of sleep apnea, and the first few months I was on Provigil I've never felt more awake in my entire life.
Avatar f tn My experience with Nuvigil: I got the free week's supply coupon from Cephalon. When I got it filled, my pharmacist asked me why I was trying it when I'd had great results from Provigil. I told him that I'd heard it would cost less, at least until Provigil's patent expired. He checked for me, and said that it wasn't that much less; around $10 a pill instead of $12. I said that every little bit helped!
797195 tn?1240579823 I tried Provigil at one time, but I never could tell that it did anything. Adderall is by far the strongest I think that I have tried. If you have troulbe with your heart from provigil, I would doubt that you could use the adderall at all. I didn't have any trouble switching off of Adderall though.
230948 tn?1235844329 org/posts/Multiple-Sclerosis/Provigil---generic-form-or-Nuvigil/show/1002045 I think as consumers it is important to understand the switch and the marketing and costs associated with the nuvigil - --- it all has to do with the big pharma company protecting their profits through the use of patents. Provigil is going to be the cheaper drug in the very near future when its patent expires.
Avatar n tn Dr. Kantor: I am 51 and have for months been experiencing what the doctor calls "chorea," treated now with clonazepam. Other symptoms that are wrosening are immense fatigue and feelings of weakness in my left arm and both legs below the knees. Because I have a pacemaker, I can't have an MRI. Tests done include a CAT scan, two EEG's and a PET scan, along with lots of blood and urine work. All "normal.
797195 tn?1240579823 It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil. I'm hoping my Nuvigil will help me get off Lexapro, which I had been taking for depression and anxiety. I've been having side effects from the Lexapro like extreme craving for sweets, weight gain, fatigue.
149081 tn?1242397832 I am on Provigil 200mg twice daily. I take one in the morning then one more at 1pm that way I can make it through a day of work. I also as on Synthroid for hypothyroidism.
1710955 tn?1309446473 The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.
398059 tn?1447945633 t consider MS a dissease that provigil is helpful in. I think provigil was a Godsend. My pharmacist told me that he was given provigil while he was stationed in Afganistan. He said that the US Army gives it out to soldiers to add extra alertness without the buzz.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Provigil for the extreme fatigue of fibro? It is not one of the conditions listed for it's use. But if it helps with extreme fatigue in other conditions, why wouldn't it help in fibro. Thinking about asking my PCP about it next time I'm in to see him.
