provigil

968560 tn?1307451498 I checked with the provigil,my insurance wont cover it and even that they have a generic available for provigil (modafil) the price for the generic without insurance is $167 a month 200mg a day.My hepa said all stimulants have the potential for abuse Didrex is a class III schedule and is less addictive than the addrerall or the ritilan(which he cant write for anyway. Didrex was approved by the FDA in 1960 as a Central Nerve stimulant. The normal dosage is 2-50mg tabs daily and costs $22.
649926 tn?1297657780 The price is the only bad side effect of Provigil for me, too, but I figure it is so worth it to improve my quality of life! I haven't tried Adderal, but I've asked about it. The side effects are less than, say, Ritalin, but can still raise your heart rate. If that doesn't concern you, I'm sure it costs a lot less and you could ask your doc if it would be right for you and see about a trial of it.
398059 tn?1447945633 I've been on Provigil (Nuvigil more recently) for four years now. I've never really felt increased energy when taking it. It does keep me awake through the day though and makes thinking seem less of a chore. I noticed it's effects on day one but it creeps up on you. I have never been able to pinpoint a moment it "kicks in". The action is very subtle.
1710955 tn?1309446473 Are there any other meds for fatigue besides provigil? The reason I ask is because for the drug interactions for provigil says don't take if you're on beta blockers or amitriptline (sp). Which of course I'm on both. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I see my pcp on Wednesday, and I want to be ahead of the game!
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Provigil for the extreme fatigue of fibro? It is not one of the conditions listed for it's use. But if it helps with extreme fatigue in other conditions, why wouldn't it help in fibro. Thinking about asking my PCP about it next time I'm in to see him.
Avatar f tn I tried Provigil last summer with high hopes, after wrangling my insurer over it--it's expensive. Alas, it didn't do diddley for me. Maybe Ampyra will help me. I'm exhausted all the time.
1842804 tn?1319756311 what meds did you try for that? As it is often connected with fatigue, my neuro gave me provigil (didn't really work for me and gave me awful headaches when weaning off) and ratilin (slightly better but also ends with headache). It seems most of meds I take give me headaches (I also have migraines). Are there any other medications for that? It's very annoying not to be able to stay focused for any extended period of time. As usual thank you for any suggestions!
Avatar f tn Medicine is what I meant to say! I'm getting used to typing on an iPad...it fills in words that I don't want sometimes...
20003388 tn?1515166040 Hello everyone. So, for years now I have suffered from extreme fatigue and brain fog/memory issues. I had my testosterone and thyroid checked, both were low. I on now on thyroid meds and testosterone replacement but it hasn't made a dent in my fatigue and brain fog despite my levels being optimal now. I do have sleep apnea and use a CPAP at night but my numbers there are also optimal. Caffeine, and most stimulants, make the fatigue worse.
Avatar f tn The reason that I have a fear of more memory damage or brain damage from certain meds is that while searching for medications to help with memory I have come across information that certain medications like aderall and others can actually cause memory damage with long term use, plus I already have memory problems due to SCT, long term uncontrolled type 1 diabetes, but is now controlled with insulin, major depression which is being treated with citalopram, hypothyroidism which is being treated w
Avatar f tn I am still trying to find a solution for my fatigue. I was started on Provigil, which really helps the fatigue, but unfortunately makes my other mastocytosis symptoms worse. You may want to ask your doctor about Provigil - at least getting on it for the meantime so that you can make it through school or work, or just your day, while you continue to search for a cause and solution, may help. I wish you the best in getting rid of the fatigue - know you are not alone.
429700 tn?1308007823 That is good to know about the medicines. I need to find something for depression and didn't know this about Wellbutrin. I'm pretty sure this problem started for me, when the MS started. I'm surgically menopausal, but taking hormones. I bet ADD can be caused from many, many things.
Avatar m tn For all practical purposes I have been bed ridden for the past 2 months. That is when he suggested Provigil. I have not heard of this on the forum. Anybody know anything as it relates to Hepc tx? Of course I have googled it. He made me another appointment in 4 weeks(a miracle in itself!) to see how it was working and talk more of 24 week treatment.Any comments welcome.
Avatar f tn So far Provigil has mostly been beneficial for me . . . it usually gives me the energy and focus I need to get some things (but not all) done. But yesterday and today I just can't seem to focus on anything. It is SO frustrating . . . I think I have the energy to do things . . . but I don't know where to start . . . or I begin something only to be sidetracked to another.
Avatar m tn Thank you for the response! I don't have the results of my polysomnogram yet so I don't know if my doctor will feel an MSLT is necessary. Right now I think she's leaning toward a diagnosis of idiopathic hypersomnia, but is that a real diagnosis or just a label to explain unexplainable symptoms? I don't want to have to take a stimulant for the rest of my life; the thought of doing so makes me nervous.
1740498 tn?1328962585 I was at work, and a colleague expressed how sick she felt and explained that her blood pressure had been dropping for no apparent reason. She is a general education teacher, and I am a special ed teacher and was working in her classroom. She said that she needed to go down to the nurse and get her blood pressure checked and asked if I would cover for her. I said sure, no problem. I was working with the children, and I suddenly looked around and wondered where that colleague was.
3191241 tn?1345032381 All depends on meds. Also if you have CFS try and ask for Provigil.... I am on that sadly I do sleep anyway, but some dont, like my daughter.
Avatar f tn I have taken both Provigil and Ritalin, for "brain fog" connected to dizziness rather than for fatigue, although certainly they helped with fatigue, especially the Provigil, I think. They both helped the "fog" tremendously, as I was able to make my mind and attention "stick" on things. I had no significant side effects from Provigil except that when it wore off in the afternoon I would feel a kind of odd, hard-edged tension or something for awhile.
572735 tn?1217201019 anything else i can take for my fatigue other than provigil? it gave me migraines! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!I'm tired of Being tired! And sick of being Sick!!!!
Avatar n tn I took nuvigil for 2 days. It didn't work for my narcolepsy and made my RLS horrible!
Avatar n tn although they have tested a new drug for cocaine addiction, it has not been approved by the fda yet. i used for coke for 5 years very heavily and went c/t as the physical w/d's from coke are so minimul, but it is the mental part that is devastaing. have you tried n/a meetings, counselling. quitting this drug is a devil to quit and as of now, there is now pill that will help as i know of.
Avatar n tn kristens lupus doctor prescribed her provigil for the constant fatigue being that it is the most debilitating of all her symtoms minus the depression and anxiety which is becoing controlled with the treatent facility that she is in. i read a lot about it and it said that it was much less likely for it to be addictive. also, it doesnt work from the nervous system so it wont make her really jittery.
Avatar m tn It is also prescribed for extreme fatigue, but if it is not prescribed for the 3 things that the FDA has given approval for, insurance will not approve it. I took Provigil for about a year, I was on suboxone at the time, which can cause excessive sleepyness, but it was more than that. In the end, I was tested for sleep apnea and ended up being diagnosed with RLS, which can cause the same symptoms. The provigil worked great, but like Eagle said, it is very expensive.
