provigil

Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
230948 tn?1235844329 Hi All Posted a few days ago maybe a week about fatiuge alot of you advised to go my GP which i will and i have a rheumy and consultant appoinment in august so will bring it up there i have researched what is out there and the most popular seem to be this provigil but it is a has something to do with the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain and i have been on requip and other dopamine meds as my rheumy seems to think these are greast but my body hates them i go mad on them!!
Avatar f tn Being that works on serotonin, Celexa works on serotonin and Provigil works on serotonin, dopamine, GABA etc. it seems to me your serotonin is being on the reuptake too much. Adding Wellbutrin which has norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors would help you in two ways, one with pain and two with energy from dopamine. Taking the regular and not the XR form would allow you to sleep easier at night as the drug tapers down.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have information on Provigil Abuse? Is it possible? My husband was addicted to prescription Oxy for 5 years and since getting off (3 years ago) has been on several different meds to overcome depression, etc. He has been taking Provigil for 2 years, but recently he runs out of his prescription before the refill date and he stays awake for days on end, between 7-10 days.
807506 tn?1248649733 I was wondering what brain chemical, hormone testing is available? Can dopamine or steriod levels be tested for example. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy but I think there is somethin else wrong. I have been on experimental drugs as well as very hih doses of prednisone(as much as 100mg boosts as a child) and drugs like adrenaline, susphrine, theophilyn etc. I m concerned that its affected me. Ive read that prednisone has eliviated eds in narcolepsy, and I tke codeint to stay awake.
1394098 tn?1385960134 This is very important as most drugs for CFS have direct effects on neurotransmitters such as Cymbalta, which is a Serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and Provigil, which is a dopamine transporter re-uptake inhibitor.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
Avatar f tn I have a recent diagnosis but none of the meds help much. Cpap helps me to wake up in morn even tho I don't have sleep apnea (scored 3). I feel more like I can't move. I will get sleep attacks if I don't take provigil but that's all that drug does for me (keeps me awake for the most part but no energy to move).
Avatar f tn Amphetamines are directly affecting your dopamine and noradrenaline levels and those effects are quite easy to see during even your first day using the drug. The problem is directly related to your Xanax and Adderall combination. I will keep it very simple here but they basically cancels each others out.
Avatar n tn hey guys. has anyone ever heard of,or taken provigil? kristens lupus doctor prescribed her provigil for the constant fatigue being that it is the most debilitating of all her symtoms minus the depression and anxiety which is becoing controlled with the treatent facility that she is in. i read a lot about it and it said that it was much less likely for it to be addictive. also, it doesnt work from the nervous system so it wont make her really jittery.
7002065 tn?1443073614 I did read an article once, even referenced it, that interferon reduces our dopamine, the feel good chemical in our brain. I started taking Tyrosine. I also tried NADH, it helped, Keep looking you will find other suggestions, like daily vitamin, B12, Vitamin D. I personally think that it depletes other things in our body but have only been able to find Dopamine reduction. If you have any cramps then take calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc. I hope the best for you.
Avatar n tn I have test results showing my dopamine level as low along with epinephrine, norepinephrine, glycine and taurine. What do you suggest as far as supplements?
Avatar m tn Something interesting happened recently that both illustrates this and makes me think dopamine may have something to do with it. First, let me make it clear that I am not a druggie. I've never taken an illegal, recreational drug in my life, not even pot (and I was in high school in the 1980s!) On a couple of occasions, however, I have taken peyote with Native Americans. The reasons for that are another story. The peyote church I attended was in Arizona, several hundred miles from my home.
547354 tn?1215431456 I am tapering off Methadone and I am dealing with lack of sleep, and I am so sluggish, I know this is normal but I also know everyone here is so good with helping me, I decided to ask...I read the health pages by Savvas and they were so good just looking for a little personal experience...
Avatar m tn It is available over the counter in most other countries -- Provigil. It is rather expensive but it works very well and is not addictive - You can take up to 500 mg per day -- It enhances Dopamine production in the brain and gives a 'non caffeine' type of boost -- more energy.
Avatar n tn right now is just not fair...u have taken away a mojor source of dopamine away from u brain...the body is incredible...it will adjust..
479581 tn?1317757488 Provigil to release their patient, or whatever. Most of the time it take 2 -3 years, but Provigil has been out since 99, with no one else scoping up the generic type. I can't afford 200 bucks a month on on pill...
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
401095 tn?1351391770 Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...
390916 tn?1204840470 Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.
518001 tn?1212419235 Is anyone taking Provigil? Has it helped you? What does it help? Do you have any side effects from it? I'm going to try it, after I get my results back from my next set of MRIs. Does it make the tremors worse? Thank you!
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
565254 tn?1224716453 I am currently taking provigil for my fatigue. The pharmacy had to order it so I was out for a few days. During those days I have been headache free. It seems that my headache has come back since I started taking it again. It isn't as bad as a normal one but it is enough to be irritating. I am curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue and if so did it go away after a while. It has really helped the fatigue but I would hate to think that the daily headaches are back.
Avatar f tn s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.
619930 tn?1260374254 I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.
Avatar m tn A decent GP would be the place to start ..... provigil is actually indicated for treatment of CFS .......... Its an expensive drug at 10.00 a pill prescription.....lots of insurance companies dont wish to cover it for that reason...... but it is being widely used now - - it will most likely be rescheduled before long because it has more of the shortcomings that straight amphetamines have than was thought during trials........
Avatar f tn on the addictions forum someone brought up the topic provigil for energy, i have been clean for a while now but i have hep so my energy level is very low, and i also have under active thyroid so my question is this, when i researced this new drug i found """PROVIGIL is a federally controlled substance (C-IV) because it has the potential to be abused or lead to dependence. Please use PROVIGIL only as directed and keep in a safe place to prevent misuse and abuse.
