Provigil and coffee

Common Questions and Answers about Provigil and coffee

provigil

149081 tn?1242397832 That's exactly how I am. I even drink a pot of coffee with my provigil and synthroid. It's still lights out after 5 hours. A 3 - 4 hour nap for me! Not good.
Avatar n tn her doctor that will be treating the disease is starting her on provigil. i did some research online and it seems to be pretty safe and has a lower probability of addiction is far less than the other options... the constant fatigue seems to be her biggest day to day issue. minus the depression and anxiety but that is getting much better since she went into treatment...has anyone ever used provigil or knows someone that has? any noticable side effects? and cautions you would give?
797195 tn?1240579823 I have been living with MS for ten years and have been lucky. Between taking AVonex and Provigil my relapses are very few and far between. and also not severe.
Avatar f tn s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.
Avatar f tn Narcolepsy is considered to be a distinct medical condition. It is possible to have both, but I don't think that's what your discussing. Most medications for ADD or ADHD are stimulants of one sort or another, and prescriptions for stimulants are often used to combat MS-related fatigue. I believe several of our community members use Provigil in this capacity. I don't have fatigue to that extent, so coffee usually does the trick. Hopefully folks with personal experience will chime in.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
Avatar m tn it's not like a party drug. that's why they've come out with the nuvigil. it doesn't have exactly the same properties as provigil. dr didn't go into details. it's safe to give to the elderly and it doesn't feel like you drank a pot of coffee.
Avatar f tn I am on day 3 of Provigil and am having a very hard time of it. My ever-present hand tremors have gotten much much worse, to the point where it's hard to eat with forks and spoons and I keep spilling food. I'm also feeling wired, as in way too much caffeine, which I generally avoid because of how it makes me feel. My provigil dose is 100 mg in the morning, though I'm allowed up to 200. Yikes, 200 might be unbearable.
Avatar m tn Has anyone on here taken Provigil? my doctor gave me a sample pack and told me to try it for my chronic fatigue. I was on a prednisone pack and felt fantastic until it started to taper off, now its my 2nd day off it and i feel like ****, and im supper tired... I tried 100 mg of the provigil, and i have had a screaming headache all day. (had to take tynelnol). anyone else have this?
Avatar m tn Modafinil (d, l-2-[(diphenylmethyl) sulfinyl] acetamide) [Provigil] is a novel wake- and vigilance- promoting agent that is chemically and pharmacologically dissimilar to CNS stimulants such as the amphetamines, methylphenidate, and pemoline. It is well tolerated and has low abuse liability compared to CNS stimulants. Modafinal promotes wakefulness. During income tax season it enabled me to work business hours in the U.S. and accommodate international clients as well.
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
1923802 tn?1331986928 my drugs of choice have always been exercise and coffee. there are two very expensive drugs called nuvigil and provigil that are used by MS patients to deal with extreme fatigue.
Avatar f tn Hey. Keep your head up, there's a lot you can do to work with this. Feeling defeated and depressed comes along with a sleep disorder, I know. I'm just a couple years younger than you. The same things happened to me. I was so smart but all my grades started falling because I could never get anything done. Everyone thought I was just lazy- I thought I was just lazy. But I was tired all the time and unmotivated. See a sleep specialist.
968560 tn?1307451498 Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?
620048 tn?1358018235 I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.
1203197 tn?1265555829 Hello there, first off all getting off seroquel is a good thing. Now speaking of Modafinil (Provigil) well i suggest it to you because it doesn't have any badside effects at all but the little side effects when you start or the ones of drinking coffee and even then i didn't notice anything stronger than coffee with Modafinil (Alertec here in Canada). I take it as a cognitive enhancer.
667078 tn?1316000935 I was put on Provigil years ago and found that at first I thought it helped - anything helped, due to being so paralyzed with fatigue. However, the way it effects me, turned out to be counterproductive. I wouldn't really get any energy until very late in the day - then couldn't sleep at night. I tried several other drugs and finally settled on Methylphenidate - Ritalin. I like it the best.
Avatar m tn I have to agree with the others who 'know' they can't live without coffee. Coffee, buttery things and chocolate do make my life more enjoyable, and I love them for that.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply! I wondered if a MSLT would be the next step. When one has a MSLT- how long should one be off medications to obtain an accurate result? If the medicine is helping, is it worth it to to get a MSLT to have a proper diagnosis? I read that to have a MSLT, it's recommended to stop meds for up to two weeks, which whould shut me down for two weeks. In all honesty, I really don't care about a diagnosis anymore, I just want to be able to function normally again.
1207048 tn?1282174304 Is there any other option for helping with afternoon fatigue? I usually have 2 cups of coffee in the morning, and another cup in the afternoon, but even that doesn't seem to be enough to keep me awake. Thanks for the help!
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
Avatar f tn I drink lots of water - weird, but it really helps me. I then I space out eating and try to have something every few hours. And, then my coffee or tea inbetween. Seems nothing wards off the bad stuff:( I've yet to try provigil. I'm just too afraid to get stimulated by it. Wouldn't it be nice to find the fine line between very relaxed and "awake.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
1627868 tn?1333886342 I "was" on Provigil. The only thing I felt was as if I drank 12 cups of coffee and was mentally alert but my body wasn't keeping up with the mind. (I'm sure you get my drift). However, I had to go off Provigil and Baclofen for I was having adverse side effects from both. Still stuck with the fatigue unfortunately. Good luck to you and I hope that your fatigue will get better in time.
