Provigil and anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Provigil and anxiety

provigil

Avatar m tn Well, provigil is an upper, so with the added stress and the exacerbation of your anxiety it's very understandable it might add to anxiety as that's what uppers do to people who suffer anxiety. Pristiq is also a very stimulating antidepressant, as it targets adrenaline, so you've got two drugs stimulating you.
Avatar m tn A fwhile ago a friend gave me a huge ziplock bag of PROVIGIL 200, and a massive amount of ritalin, 5s,10s, and extended release 20s. I have attempted to research PROVIGIL, ate one and it seems to add to my energy level. I am not looking to trade addictions. (I am feeling withdrawl, cold, night leg shakes, sweat, uncontrollable yawning, and the dreaded running to the restroom) Does anyone know if RITALIN and/or PROVIGIL will ease my lack of motivation and energy untill the WD passes?
Avatar f tn I am in a similar situation such as yourself. I had been on Provigil for approximately a year and it helped me tremendously. I was able to look for employment again, seek out options for going bk to school, and I had much less social anxiety with friends, family, and the public. I also went on a much needed weight loss program and had lost 17 lbs. Then my insurance denied coverage and we are working on an appeal.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.

233622 tn?1279334905 I take Coreg for bp and tachycardia and am also taking Provigil. I get relief from my fatigue on just 100mg a day and have had no problem with the bp. I have noticed some mild tachycardia recently, but I think it may be connected to the recent switch to generic Coreg. I'm curious . . . can tachycardia be caused by MS?
Avatar n tn her doctor that will be treating the disease is starting her on provigil. i did some research online and it seems to be pretty safe and has a lower probability of addiction is far less than the other options... the constant fatigue seems to be her biggest day to day issue. minus the depression and anxiety but that is getting much better since she went into treatment...has anyone ever used provigil or knows someone that has? any noticable side effects? and cautions you would give?
667078 tn?1316000935 Getting prozac for my cat and all the other details. The cat has anxiety! I guess they are like people. Anxiety is very real and can lead to all kinds of health issues like Cystitis in cats. Thanks for the advice.
797195 tn?1240579823 I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist just gave me Nuvigil which is an updated version of Provigil for when I come off methadone cold turkey on Tuesday. When most of the physical withdrawals are gone, then I will start taking it to try to get back into life. He won't prescribe it for over a month. He's also an addictionologist. Nuvigil is supposed to have less side effects and literally just came out.
Avatar f tn My neuro has just prescribed Provigil for me. (I emailed him and he answered within 5 minutes! Gotta hand it to him for that.) Anyway, I had previously had Amantadine, which did zilch, even at 200 mg. I am authorized to take 100 mg of Provigil, and can go to 200 if necessary. From what I recall, many of you take half a pill, so I guess that's 50. Have looked up the drug info online and it said side effects include nausea and anxiety, among other things, including a serious rash..
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
Avatar f tn I was recently put on adderall to help combat some of the excessive fatigue and trouble focusing I'm having related to my disease and medications. The doc choose this med over provigil because of cost. Does anyone have experience with taking either of these for excessive fatigue or focusing issues? I'd just like to know how it worked for you.
233622 tn?1279334905 I take these two as well. While they do not hope to control the spasms, twitches and stiffness, they DO help. At one point mu doc took me off since we didn't feel they were doing anything - all heck broke loose! So back I went on them. Wobbly - baclofen is for spasticity.
2288403 tn?1339564728 My insurance initially said 'no' to provigil because I didn't have narcolepsy. So I tried amantadine and I reacted badly to it. Then my neuro appealed and provigil was approved. I don't know what he said in the appeal, but you might mention this to your doctor. Provigil has gone generic recently and got cheaper, so I don't know if it is any easier to get than nuvigil.
968560 tn?1307451498 Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?
620048 tn?1358018235 I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
Avatar n tn huge lymphnodes in her neck/ behind her ears and in her armpit. she is anemic. has severe depression and anxiety(hence why she attempted suicide in the beginning of the month and thats why she is in inpatient treatment right now ). her joints are incredibly sore and has a rush of warmth into them from time to time. and she has terrible migraines very frequently... as for the period thing. she has an irregularly shaped uterus that causes issues with her period...
Avatar m tn Has anyone on here taken Provigil? my doctor gave me a sample pack and told me to try it for my chronic fatigue. I was on a prednisone pack and felt fantastic until it started to taper off, now its my 2nd day off it and i feel like ****, and im supper tired... I tried 100 mg of the provigil, and i have had a screaming headache all day. (had to take tynelnol). anyone else have this?
Avatar f tn Ugh! I've been on provigil for the last couple of months, and have felt better than I have in a year and a half. Then, I realize that getting up at 4:30 in the morning is NOT a norm for me. I stopped the provigil for a couple of days and BAM!, I feel awful again. Now I'm wondering, have I been manic(I am bi-polar)? Is this just the chronic fatigue again? My BP goes up when I'm on the provigil and I don't even take my midodrine.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
1511858 tn?1290477459 My muscles tremor when over exherted and I need Provigil to get out of the bed and drive and function without fear of falling asleep ...I've been taking provigil with great success however, I am having a hard time with insurance filling it with new Medicare ins. restrictions and pre auth's required etc.
1394098 tn?1385960134 This is very important as most drugs for CFS have direct effects on neurotransmitters such as Cymbalta, which is a Serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and Provigil, which is a dopamine transporter re-uptake inhibitor.
Avatar f tn s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.
