protonix weight gain

I started looking at questions about PPIs and weight gain and found other things that concerned me. My VA Dr is shall we say less than desirable. Here are my issues. I have been taking protonix for many years. I took another type before it but VA decided it was too expensive and quit providing it. Over the years I have had significant weight gain, a lot of which I attributed to my por eating habits and decreasing exercise due to severe joint problems. Now I'm not so sure.

plus u may not be getting what u need, when we starve ourselves we can develop GERD symptoms as well or ne change in our diet....or in weight gain or loss u will see a change in these symptoms. Is ur Dr working with u on this diet? As those calories sound too low.

I started this the same time as my 2x daily protonix. After and during weight lifting it feels as though I cant breathe and have to sit down, then I belch for like 5 minutes. At the end it takes 2-3 hours before my stomach feels 'normal' again and I can actualy eat anything. I also have a hard time breathing due to this feeling of 'gas' in my upper stomach. I have had two endoscopies done with them saying my z-line (sphincter muscle?) was abnormal.

He wants to put me on 6 M-P but I am concerned about a weakened immune system. weight loss/gain, hair loss, and any other side effect. Do you or anyone you know take this medicine and what has it done for them? Any advice or personal stories would help!

A dry mouth was one of the first symptoms that was really bothersome for me. Then I noticed weight gain, feeling cold, my skin was dry for years I thought that was because I was in memopause. If you google thyroid diet, eliminating certain foods because they cause inflammation and it triggers the immune system to attack the thyroid. Also limiting your exposure to toxins like harsh household cleaners, nail polish removers, pesticides, ect. All the best to you!

well a lot of bad christmas food, caffeine and 4-5lbs weight gain and I had my first experiences with LPR which took me 2-3 weeks to realise were reflux related and not a strange throat infection. I'm off the caffeine, back on 30mg Lansoprazole (Prevacid in u.s) and eating sensibly and the symptoms have reduced significantly over the last week. I still have a very slight hoarseness and need to clear my throat every 3-4 hours, and some tingly swallowing sensations but its all a lot better.

Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.

The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.

I had another bad attack with grilled chicken a couple of weeks ago and was forced to go to my dr. He currently has me on protonix which is not helping. I have been researching to try and figure out what in the world can be done about this. I am getting some of the weight back off but am afraid it is going to come off to fast because most days I am only able to get soup down. Here are my symptoms. My food feels like it immediately gets stuck in my throat.

Protonix (Pantoprozole) does not give me problems...maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?

Breast feeding sidnt work out for me so i had to exclusively pump my milk and give her bottles. She was born at a low weight and we had to keep track of her ozs and such for weight gain. Thr pumping was like an extra full time job. Then she had a flat spot on her head and has had to wear a helmet due to that. She alao had tremors we had to have testing for seizures. Negative and she is healthy. I could attribite stress to all this but all of it was months ago, not current. I don't know.

of course surgeon said it needs to come out. that is what they said 4 yrs ago. at that time I tried to reduce fats, take protonix daily (also have to take Excedrin almost daily for Migraines- another story) but symptoms now waking me up at night. abd pain rad to back too, Hida scan ef 22%. I had been seeing my surgeon for follow up (thyroid and breast cysts/biopsies -benign) and GB became priority now. So I relented and surery was scheduled.

I was put on Carafate, Protonix and Zantac which never really helped very much...eventually, I got better and gained the weight back but every few months I get a flare up where I get pain under left shoulder and left front abdomen, chest pain and some burning...I just had a stress test, a nuclear stress test, an echo and blood work....the cardiologist says everything looked great--perfect stress tests and excellent blood work so he says go back to gastro doctor which I did..

I have been coughing almost non-stop for well over a month. It gets so bad I end up vomiting sometimes. I get no sleep and can't even have simple conversations that are uninteruppted. I've been to a doctor and he has given me Protonix, it's been three weeks and still no resolve. My physician says I have no allergies or irratation in my throat and he feels it is GERD due to an increase in weight over a short period of time.

Look up weight gain according to BMI and it will give you a good idea on the amount of weight you should gain according to your body type.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

Aww don't worry. In my experience, weight gain tends to stall at the end.

I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..
